Just got back from Kentucky, did tours at Woodford and Buffalo Trace visited Wild Turkey gift shop and Castle and Key distillery. I must disagree with you about Woodford, the tour was amazing , the grounds are absolutely beautiful, surrounded by horse farms. The buildings are limestone, we got to see the mash, the copper stills (very cool) and the barrel houses. The gift shop was also beautiful, (drinking coffee from one of their mugs right now) The Buffalo Trace tour is also a must for any Bourbon drinker, it's free but you have to book it months in advance. The tour is mostly outside the buildings but you get the history of the distillery. The gift shop is so so, only bourbon available was Buffalo Trace although they do allocations daily. The Wild Turkey gift shop is small but cool. If you buy a sample $12 you get to keep the glass , so totally worth it. Walked around Castle and Key, formerly EH Taylor, unfortunately it was closed that day. If you are going to do the bourbon trail check their hours a lot of them are closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
That’s amazing. Sounds like you had a great time! I’m thinking we hit woodford on a bad day. We will have to re try it. We never got a tour there and that might’ve been a changing factor for us. Thanks for writing and letting us know.
Glad to see I’m not crazy when it comes to Woodford… went there and the campus was beautiful but the people were awful. Very disappointing since i like their bourbon but i don’t really want to give them my business anymore

the menacing drone hit during each title card is so good, makes no sense but fits so well like someone is gonna die or get arrested at the distillery.
