Songs of The Pianist Wladyslaw Szpilman
Wladyslaw Szpilman was an all-round musician -- a pianist performing both solo and in chamber ensembles, as well as the composer of symphonic pieces and popular songs. He first studied the piano in Warsaw and Berlin, and worked at Polish Radio for four years until the outbreak of war.
He miraculously avoided capture by the Nazis. In the final months of the war, he found shelter in the ruins of Warsaw and survived thanks to the help from his friends and a German Army officer, Wilm Hosenfeld.
After the war, he resumed his professional contacts with Polish Radio, serving as director of its Music Department for 18 years. He then founded the Warsaw Piano Quintet, which toured around the world for more than two decades. His compositional output includes around 500 songs and several symphonic works which have remained in the concert repertoire till today. (jb/pg/mk)

Yes, I understand this video is to honor Wladyslaw Szpilman, his mastery of the piano, his gift for composing, and for featuring the beautiful and talented singer Anna Maria Jopek...but I find the guitarist's performance stunningly elegant and haunting; who is he?
I think his name is Marek Napiórkowski . One of the best polish guitar players .

Świetny gitarzysta, ale styl tej pięknej piosenki prof.Szpilmana jest zupełnie nie trafiony! Lubię raczej Anię Jopek, sama jestem profesjonalnym muzykiem, ale to jest raczej pomyłką, taka b.smętna niby- bossanova, to pomyłka i prawie - obraza dla pięknej i tak dynamicznej piosenki, która traktuje raczej o apoteozie życia niż o depresji...takie smęcenie i mędzenie o nieodwrotności przemijania czasu - jest wręcz- niesmaczne i w całkowicie złym stylu...akurat tu trafiłaś, Aniu, jak - kulą w płot...nic mniej trafnego niż ta interpretacja, niestety...tylko pokazuje że do Diany Krall bardzo Ci daleko, a szkoda...
