This is what we Brits were notoriously known for, marching in foreign land playing March of the British Grenadiers then stopping to ceremoniously play Thriller by Michael Jackson.

Some people say that they opened the gate so the band could March through, others say they opened the gates to stop the guards marching the them and making bearskin holes
Just noticed that each Grenadier has a bayonet on his belt (save the drum major, who wears a sword). Can anyone confirm my suspicion that they are in fact carrying a proper bayonet?
Yea, German musiccorps do that aswell. In both England and Germany bandsmen traditionally aren't soldiers so they would never wear and rifle in any way but they still caried bayonets, while interestingly German drummers aren't part of the Musicial troops but the Infantry and they don't wear Bayonets.

You know the first few times this playing of pop music was fun, but now it’s gotten tacky. Songs like the National Anthem and military tradition should be treated with earnest respect. Like I said I’m not against having fun, but it’s too common nowadays.
