    Hi Guys, in this video I fulfil a viewer request who asked for a guide to Flocks and Foliage. I go through some of the products I use to create my Terrain and Dioramas and then give a practical example of how they can be used in a simple Forest Scene. If you have any questions - feel free to give me a shout.

    I am a Classic VW Artist from Las Vegas. I just completed my first diorama of a beach scene, which also has a 1:32 VW Classic Bus in it as well. I had so much fun placing old cans, plumbing and other items around the "surf shack". I also painted and built a fence for the back of the property, added an umbrella and lounge chair, with a sea shell on it, a dog with a stick in front of him and a few plants rocks and grass here and there. You video gave me a few new ideas. Thanks!! Brian - Las Vegas

      Hey Brian, that sounds amazing!! Would love to see a 📸. Diorama building can be a bit complicated to start with but sounds like you jumped right in and found the fun side quickly. Glad I could help in a small way. I got a couple beach videos which may help you further. Keep building 🙌

      Would love to send you a picture or two of the beach diorama I just finished. Where could I e-mail them? Brian Gardner.

    I really enjoy the sheer variety of tree construction methods that exist, and hopefully will soon be dipping my toes into it too

    First tree tutorial I've seen ever, that looks great, realistic in time and effort and affordable. Im adding it to the list

      Thank you. I appreciate it. I was asked by a viewer new to the hobby to do a guide to flocks and foliage so I thought I'd cover that and give a simple example of how they can be used. But simple doesn't mean it needs to look bad either. A little craft and patience is all that's needed. 👍

    Another fantastic video. I really like how you explain what it is you are doing through every step. Compared to other channels I like to watch that just have music playing the entire time instead.

      Thank you!! I guess I try to make the kind of video I like to watch while I'm building. It may not be the most popular way on RUclips but I'm ok with that. And if I can share some knowledge I have picked up along the way then all the better. Spread the love 👍

    Could you do a video about the glues you use to make diorama's? I would love to try making one but will probably ruin it with the wrong glue.

    I tried making a post earlier but i'm not sure where it ended up. It's not here for sure, so i'll try again. In Star Wars there is a scene where X-Wings are parked in front of the ruins on Yavin 4. Since you're on the topic of foliage and such, it would be interesting to see how you would go about creating moss and such that is covering those ruins. Or if you perhaps could point me to one of your earlier videos if that is covered there already. I'm preparing for my first diorama, waiting for some colours i ordered to arrive, but i'm not sure what to use to re-create something like that. Always interesting to watch your videos anyway :) Thanks!

      Funnily enough I have an x-wing build coming up. But no moss in that. I have found the moss really depends on the scale you are working at. Anything around 32mm I like to add a little texture with some flock but for more overgrown moss the best I have found is preserved moss using real moss and glycerin soaked for 48-72 hours and then spray it green to hold the colour. Or buy it ready made from diorama precipe - amazing products but not cheap. The best moss effect I have found I easily dirty down moss. Hope that helps a little 👍

      @@creativecuts7803 - I'm really starting in a small scale 😉 The size of R2D2 in that build is about 8-9 mm. Trying to fit everything into the Skönja from IKEA (art. nr. 00497689)
      Plus i figured out why my posts were deleted. I posted links in them. I had to make this post again just because of that - I linked to the Skönja article

    Those might be the best looking evergreen trees I've ever seen. I'm curious, how durable are they? Do they shed if you move them around?

    • @creativecuts7803
      @creativecuts7803  2 года назад +1

      Thanks! They are pretty durable. Because I use spray varnish as glue it gives everything a decent protective layer. Of course the odd piece may shed but I have found that it actually makes the trees look more realistic as the tenancy it to put too much static grass. The trick is to know when to stop

  • @tmckee3242
    @tmckee3242 2 года назад +1

    Whats the spray glue you're using? I bought one designed for hobby railway stuff and it hardly sticks, even with flock/static grass.

    • @creativecuts7803

      I either use spray mount from 3M or matt varnish. A local place sells big cans of spray varnish and it seems to do a good job. I have also found extra strong hold hair spray is great for fine particles. I have had many online purchase failures and ended up with lots of cans of carpet spray - shoots spiderwebs. Maybe a cool effect for something but not for modelling.

      @@creativecuts7803 Thanks, that's good to know. The varnish option sounds good, guess it also toughened up the terrain at the same time?

    Hello Mr. Cuts. thank you for sharing some of your insights and input concerning foliage et al. You have provided me with some new ideas. Maybe you can present something that concerns buildings, houses, sheds and the like. I'd like to see your approach to building structures like these. As you know, I'm an MESBG guy so I'm thinking rural rather than cosmopolitan styles. See you again soon!!
