    why do smartphone images look flat/plasticky? I mean, real camera captured photos have a great micro details, contrast and colour gradation which gives them depth and realism but smartphone has none of these.

      Since world is not made out of laser if you force lot of light to go through a very small pinhole it fundamentally will be Messi . In lens terms we call it diffraction limit. Micro lens system that we are using in mobile phone is very close to the limit how small can we make it. In this regard bigger is better

      @@CameraTuesday ok i understood that But previous generation phones had better IQ especially nokia 808 and 1020 despite being a decade old(and have same sensor size as the current flagships) their images look like as if taken from a dslr, is it due to less agressive processing or traditional bayer sensor?
