BMW wheel locks are a great way to protect your expensive wheel and tire investment. They are you best friend when it comes to stumping novice wheel thieves, but quickly become your worst enemy if they ever break and you need to remove them without a key. In this video, I show you how to remove BMW wheel locks in case your lock ever becomes too damaged for the key to work. I want to give a huge shoutout to everyone who gave me suggestions, and of course, my dad and my neighbor who came through with the brute strength.
I don’t want anyone to use this information with bad intentions. FYI, this took about a half hour for one lock and the whole neighborhood could hear us. You probably won’t want to steal a wheel with this method.

Thanks to this video, I have been able to remove locks without the key. With that being said, I have 6 sets of rims for sale ya'll. :D
Way to go Dad!!! Glad you got it off and that your dad didn't hurt him self when the lug wrench came loose.
I will be trying this, thank you, have watched 3 videos on this technique and you had the most trouble, the others were done in less than a minute, makes me think the wheel lock was already loose. x fingers for me.
Thank you so much for this video and solution! Stripped one key on the third wheel, bought two new ones and got that third wheel off, then stripped both new ones in the fourth. What pieces of crap! Had a 21mm 6 point and 22mm 12 point, neither worked. Bought the 21mm 12 point and had the sucker off in 1 minute. Thanks again!!
Wait, wait, wait... did the police come????? Lol
My neighbor lol
🤣😂 I was WHATTTTTT!
Damn Justin doesn't play... He called the Police on that little lug, then beat the crap out of it.
👮♂️🔨
I don't have wheel locks (yet) but I'm grateful for this info. Always good to see father and son working together!

I love that your parents neighbors came to help 😂
I've tired every method without any luck. I took it to a reliable auto mechanic. Thus far they are working on removing it.
Fun to watch! Glad you filmed this! Was nervous for the wheels and camera the whole way!
Huge thank you! I never would have thought of this method. I have a 2003 E46, and used 22mm. Worked! Now onto brake job.
^
I used the same method thanks to you to remove one my lock that was stuck on my BMW X1....worked perfectly! Thanks
Dude. You just saved me $55 for a new wheel lock key from BMW. Took wheels off to paint rusted rotor hubs and replace VMR caps with BMW caps and got down to the last wheel and the key broke. I know what I'm doing after work tomorrow!
“What superhuman put this on?” Lolll
A normal human with an impact wrench.
Thank you for the video... I just experienced the same worry.. I did what the video advised, lo and behold! It worked!!!!
Many thank you to you for uploading 🙏
Kiddo, it could have been much easier. But u did it, and that's what matters
This works on some locking wheel nuts but many of them have a ring on the outside that just spins so you can't do this.
Great video brother, I had a different problem at one point in my life I was stuck with that problem for almost 6 hours and my old man never left my side he was here to shear me up until the en of that problem, he’s now shearing up our great master our beloved Jesus Christ, he went on a journey that some day we will all go. thanks brother great video!!
I Tried it on BMW 330! using a 21mm, and it worked without issues. Now I didn’t use a slash hammer, I used a regular hammer.
I recommend adding a breaker bar to your tool box. Ratchet with a pipe (cheater bar) will only work so long until the ratchet breaks. If that happens, you are SOL on finishing the job unless you have a spare.
Just bought one a few weeks ago. So much better!
It's not everyday a Cop will take off his jacket to help you!...Cool Video man!
The first thing I do whenever I get a new car is to dispose of the wheel locks. They are more trouble then they are worth. Most people don't need them unless they are living in Compton or the Bronx.
GOOD JOB everyone! Beautiful VMR's unscathed. My son and I torque the VMR's on his E46 to 88 ft. lbs. !!!!! Best practice when removing wheels, Lock off first, back on last.
This video was very helpful. I had same bolt. I used 22mm socket, 21mm was to small. Thanks man💪😌
Which series BMW ? E70?
Tip: always use painters blue tap on all sockets used to put on or remove sockets. To prevent scratching wheels
Wow, I learned something today🔥
I'm a bit late to the party dude, but BMW have keys to them all 😂😂😂 I was watching this and then went to BMW and they gave me the key for $20
This might be a dumb question but are u able to put a non keyless lug nut back on the key one?
Thanks! This helped me steal a lot of wheels!
Hopefully nobody notices you with a sledge hammer beating on a wheel lol
@@justinbuice 😂😂😂
Almost 100k keep it up
But 2:19 was funny
Not all bmw . bmw lock has spinning ring even when you put socket it will spin the ring this works with solid wheel lock
I'm glad you got it off. If you had AAA they carry an easy out that would have taken it right off. It looks like a socket but inside it has reverse splines. Get yourself a AAA membership and don't get stuck anymore.
Im going to look into that. They are offered as an add on through my insurance but I never thought I’d need them
One day you will. Also like Jason said. Get a breaker bar and a 19 socket. Harborfreight has a 1/2 inch for $9.99 on their add. Make sure you push the socket forward when you go to take it off. Take care!
Your A G brother good family, Euro Videos 👍👌 I got a E90 335D your videos are very motivational and inspiring god bless
Those wheels are sick👍🏽
i got the same problems in mi E90. Thanks for your videos and your help Justin
Thanks
22mm worked like magic
Justin, my man! Big thanks to you and your old man. 💯 Just got through bangin a 21mm to get my lug off. Love the videos, drive safe and keep up the good work. 👍
Guy: what super human put this on?
Lug: that super human happens to be a super air gun
Worked like a champ!! Thank you.
I was 🙏 for your wheel happy that sledgehammer worked. We use the same technique at the shop but, with a handheld sledge. Please go to harborfreight and buy a breaker bar my ocd goes bananas when people don't use them.. happy its off and your wheel in safe👍
I have a breaker bar now 😎
Lots of thanks from Zimbabwe. Was stressing over this
Removal method worked perfectly, thank you
Glad I could help!
Dude replace OEM BMW wheel hub with after market with studs on it! More content please
The cops 👮♀️ ????? Now that’s really calling the heavy artillery. You weren’t kidding!!!
Fantastic work guys 👍🏻👍🏻
Would you buy a 2nd hand car, that has frostiness, under cap of the radiator, oil well. And what would you do if you saw, water in the driver's side in the engine? Shaun of NYC
Worked like a charm! Thanks for the video!
Kinetic energy always wins.. Did it once with a stripped out #45 torx.. hammered a #50 in and out came the bolt.
Woo! Glad you got it off
such a relief lol
Your Car just keeps looking nicer and nicer. Btw whats the name of the outro song?
You should also use an impact socket as these chrome ones shatter. Shorts also happen to be better since they won't hit your wheel. I would use a strong impact extension too to take the hammering
You know what???? After seeing this video i have ordered 5 Right size socket for my selff so i dont need to see this situation even i loss 2-3 sockets hahahahahaahah as i dont have sludge hammer and may cost equal to 2-3 sockets costs.. but hey.. thanks mmmate.. i enjoyed.. it honestly..
This video just saved me. Thanks bro
Worked perfectly. Thanks
What is the key called? I need to order one, when i bought my car it wasnt with the tools. Have a flat and cant remove tire
I have the same problem now... I was in the middle of changing out my rear brakes and was on the last bolt when I realized it’s rounded off. I first need to buy a bolt from BMW before attempting a smaller size socket. Fml.
Glad you got it off, I also sent you a message on your Facebook page about my 328i having a cold start misfire. Can you help?
Awesome! Glad to see it worked out for ya!
Does this apply to the OEM BMW high security locks?
Thank you. It worked perfectly.
Love the feature from the community dope editing.
Thanks man!
Could this method damage the car in any way?
I have a question. So I put my old wheels on my bmw e39, and they are stuck. I remove all the log nuts (sorry for spelling I’m foreigner) and the wheel won’t come off. I hit it multiple times and still it won’t come off. Any ideas?
Turn in lugs 6-7 times drive back and forth 4-5 feet. Till wheel breaks common bmw problem out white lithium greese on the hub and the rim when changing tires
You ever thought about getting a zed four? Just curious
I have the same problem today with my Audi A3, funny was it's was the last wheel as well
Nice work dude 👍
Sweet! A good idea to try of We get stuck.
nice vid mate.. thanks alot
always use 1/2" drive sockets breaker bar and some muscle takes it off
Glad you got your wheel off.
hey Justin would you recommend the VMR wheels for pothole ridden roads
Yeah mine survived in MI. I would strongly recommend 18's with a thicker tire rather than 19's though
How do you like those Continental tires???
Is that your first set???
I love them. I have all season Continentals on this car and Continental summer performance tires on my wife’s FR-S
Is the rim damaged !? 😭😭
3/8 socket wrench usually pretty hard to get em off lol
I think that socket method with an impact screwdriver socket would have had that off in a few smacks of the hammer.
NEVER ask 'The Terminator' to tighten up your Wheelnuts!
@Justin Buice does that technique of removing the locknut damage the locknut by any chance and in anyway? I'm stuck in Lockdown and want to change out my Brake Pads.
You will have to replace the locking bolt if you manage to get it out
@@justinbuice thanks for your help mate!
mine was removed in 2 seconds, the lock was burnt red-hot on one side to make a slit and hammered a flat head on that dent to loosen the wheel lock
Superb..
Next time save yourself the trouble get yourself some easy outs and a breaker bar a bigger breaker bar would give you more leverage you can get everything at advance auto ✌🏿
Torque on the wheels is 80 ft-lbs. Looks more like 120 😬
I need you guys lol
It's easier to use 6-point 21.mm socket. Just grind simple v-shape the between the points, it will be a lot easier to knock the modified socket on to bolt and use brake bar to turn it.
very nice car bro
Thanks man I just did it
Glad I could help!
@@justinbuice You're video save me about $150 And thank you so much again
BMW
nice officer
that metal pipe comes in handy. i have one just to loosen my tire nuts.
fondoo my dude,tire nuts? Really?
wheel nuts. it was getting late and i should really be sleeping instead of watching these videos on youtube
Do all tires come with one lock each?
On cars with locking wheel lugs, there is usually one lock per wheel
Justin Buice thanks very helpful videos, keep it coming
I was in the video....
2:55 *OUCH*
Bmw will sell you the wheel key you need
With the "new" version of the BMW wheel locks this method doesn't work! ;-)
Even the police were rushed to scene of the broken nut...
LOL
Ok, so this worked great but now my lug is permanently attached to my socket….
This just happened to me
Could of gotten a nut extractor kit
T wrench? Lol that's like so 1950s dude! Hope you didn't damage that rim beating the snot out of that lug
Lol I bought a real breaker bar recently. MUCH better
Someone send this to Valterri Bottas
Now my turn
Omg what you are tools use.
