      ppl blunder these things al the time in high level blitz games and often they feel like they didnt win legitimately and will give the draw, jospem hoped for this twice as this is titled tuesday and thought eric might be nice to him and give the draw. its not being disrespectful its just wondering if eric would give the draw because the winning position came from a stupid mistake that can't really even be considered a blunder speaking its a premove. eric has all rights to not take the draw and go for the win as he does in the position and nobody should look down on him for not taking the draw and playing on. to say that he is arrogant, scummy, or disrespectful because of this is just downright stupid and eric is saying hes a nice guy because he actually thinks he is irl. no wonder hikaru gets shit on for every micro-action he does when hes a little tilted, yall are too sensetive.

    At 4:49, there was a potential cool tactic of knight C5, pawn takes C5, Rook takes D6, pawn takes D4, rook takes D5, pawn takes e3, king takes e3, finally ending with pawn takes rook d5, and bishop take pawn forking the rook and the king. Of course black would probably move the king instead of taking the rook, but still a cool line imo.

    Comment section: can we just say that this is a game? I'm tired of people saying "he shouldn't offer a draw! He should resign! He should keep playing!"
    Everyone has different ideas on that, and to be fair, in a competition or a game, if we're playing by the rules we all agreed on (such as time or draw offers), you technically are never wrong.
    There are frustrating things to do, but that's literally one of the points of competition, you play to win if you still have a chance.
    I agree that that was not the best thing to do, but the rules allow it, you can say it was questionable, but not that he was wrong. He still played really good moves in very small amounts of time, and time management is really important in a chess game (you can literally hear Eric say "I spent too much time on that move").
    Both sides of the argument are correct, so stop pointing fingers and just have a laugh.

    I don’t know if all negative comments just get deleted but i have to disagree with most of you. It’s bad sportsmanship to go for dirty tricks which have nothing to do with skill, just because it’s the only way you can win against better players. Strong players are premoving not because they are careless, they just don’t expect you to go for dirty tricks at this level where most players know each other. Just try to see it from their perspective they are grinding a lot and worked hard for their knowledge and someone just does these dirty tricks (which of cause they know and could easily defend, they just didn’t think that in this case Eric goes for these dirty tricks). So it’s really just annoying for someone like Jospem

    • @eric-rosen

      Qf3 is actually the top engine move and a trendy line these days… but maybe it’s possible for the strongest move in the position to still be a dirty trick? 🤔

    • @paulgraf5746
      @paulgraf5746 2 года назад

      @@eric-rosen it looks like you knew he would premove b7 so speculating with Qf3 can be considered a dirty trick. Otherwise why would Jospem premove b7 if Qf3 was such a common line. And anyways, i would be more interested in winning by outplaying rather than having a massive advantage from the very start. Yes it is your good right to convert this into a win but why not take the draw and rematch? Is that kind of victory worth so much to you? Question of honor and respect in my opinion

    • @eric-rosen
      @eric-rosen  2 года назад

      Trendy means that it's become more popular recently, but it's still far less common than the mainlines. This game was part of a Titled Tuesday tournament, so rematching after the game was out of the question. Taking a draw would just lead to missing out on playing stronger competition. Many games with this Qf3 line do lead to highly interesting/complex battles which I much prefer over the opponent gifting the piece!

  • @leonvalente6389

    I think he made the draw offers cause it’s a terrible way to lose your 3000 elo and so he was panicking. Explains why he didn’t immediately resign, too. Still though, a 3000 elo shouldn’t make such reckless pre moves so lesson learned
