I was 6 years old when that song came out and I was so in love with it. And I'm 19 now still jamming into it. Man I love throwback songs --- they're biggest part of my childhood. Always remember this. Never forgotten. J.R. Rotem rocks!!!
Sometimes what gets the win, is knowing how to use different tools to accomplish one goal, he used a guitar player, he used writers, he used his own talent to create something. Sometimes you cannot do EVERYTHING by yourself. Knowing when to ask for help is critical. Great lesson. peace
Thanks JR for your honesty and willingness to share this with us. As a songwriter and new producer, I need to hear how this stuff gets made and see that you can have faith in people to take your tracks, play them to people and get participation.
Watching videos on J.R Rotem producing really inspires me. Just shows a song can be made from the simplest of idea's, although the process of making the track may be difficult. Thanks for sharing!
I was absolutely inspired by this song.! I've been a Nicki fan/supporter and I've seen her grow & this is one of those songs where you can hear that {Message, production, & over all artistry} The guy singing the original hook has some mad vocal power on him as well -3 S/O to RiRi for making it come alive for Nick.! Hope to see more JR behind the Hit *SMOOCHES*
Looks like a newer version of ProTools to me... This guy knows his way around a synthesizer and is an enviable arranger as well. Props to you... I hope one day we will cross paths. Cheers!
Even 50% is pushing it. Especially for a song like this with so many people working on it. I would say 20% if your lucky. Artists make way more performing these days. Producers basically need to compose and produce the entire track from the start to get there fare share.
J.R Rotem is a Songwriter/Producer as he's technically wearing two hats. Making beats is Co-Writing. Producing is overseeing the production and recording of the finished record. That's why J.R Rotem gets both Writing and Production credits. Most Hip Hop Producer's are traditional Record Producer's that Co-Writes the music such as providing the beat. But, not all Record Producer's Co-Writes or have anything with making beats as P-Diddy is a Producer and he doesn't make beats. So if you Co-Wrote half of the song all by yourself such as making the beat, you automatically own 50% of the song.
@Hertzee wrong, Artist don't make no more than 50% of the money made of the songs. You have to include the producers, engineers, technicians, songwriters, managers, etc. And the studio has bills too. A lot of money is divided among the behind-the-scene people too
This is proof that everyone autotunes their vocals even if it’s just pitch correction u can hear it as soon as this video starts and Rihanna says “I CAME to win”
@Hertzee Artist make more money because they use the songs in concerts. They do tours with those songs. Tours/concerts = Profit. But still producers get nice royalties outta songs like this.
It's a person who sings at 2:25 or a synthetic voice? I ask because I would like to wrote songs but I havn't specially a good voice so I would like to know how the composers wrote music even if they don't have a beautiful voice please ?
@EpicSodas wrong. FL studio is just as capable of making professional quality records as a fantom or motif. guys like boi1da, kanebeatz, hitboy, and afrojack swear by it, and their work speaks for itself. the quality of the final product has more to do with mixing than what workstation you're using.
So just like Dr Dre he does fuck all. Every one else does all the work and he just goes to Nikki like here you go. The real talent is in the guitarist and the writers
J.R Rotem is also a Writer too. Did you know Beat Makers are considered "Songwriters"? Yes Beat Making is writing (music). J.R Rotem is a traditional Record Producer that Co-Writes the music. He's a Songwriter/Producer. That's why he gets Writing and Production credits for both roles.
yea artist make about 20% tops and theres only a few that get that. a lot of money goes out to studio time. engineers.. and considering this guy damn near made the whole song im pretty sure he got a good amount of money for this. probably some 5 digit number.
A 15 year old girl holds hands with her 1 year old son. People call her a slut, no one knows she was raped at 13. People call another Guy fat. No one knows he has a serious disease causing him to be overweight . People call an old man ugly. No one knew he had a serious injury to his face while fighting for our country in the war.People call a women bald but they don't know she has cancer Re-post this if you are against bullying and stereotyping. I bet 95% of you won't do it...
Artists make nothing on royalties. It's all about touring and merchandise. Marilyn Manson made a few hundred grand on Antichrist Superstar, which went at least double platinum. Prince, at the same time, self released his album on his website, and made 9 million. I don't think that album even sold 200K copies. Do the math.

Vous voyez que même les pros qui ont des studios a je sais pas combien d'euros ont des Yamaha HS80 M alors on dit quoi bande de ....... qui sont chez KRK Vive YAMAHA tout court

Vocaloid is an amazing line of synthetic voices with characters that go with them. They began in japanese, but it spread to the english language. Look up the vocaloid Oliver, I recommend that if you need a producer-worthy voice that uses long notes that you may be looking for. :) Plus, they're anime. Haha.
love this guy, no crap talking just straight up good music
OMG The voice of the guy is AMAZING *-*
Mattia F. His name is Will Jordan, check him out he's super dope
I was 6 years old when that song came out and I was so in love with it. And I'm 19 now still jamming into it. Man I love throwback songs --- they're biggest part of my childhood. Always remember this. Never forgotten. J.R. Rotem rocks!!!
I'm so glad JR does this stuff. He is constantly giving back to up and coming producers/songwriters. Much appreciated, thank you!

his production inspired my earlier youth..
I was absolutely inspired by this song.! He is a South African, you can tell. We love you J.R
Wow, the hook was good but Riri made it bang FR.
WOW!
The famous Beluga Heights
According to my research nicki minaj kinda wrote the intro part (rap part) then they created chorus which takes only 1/4 of the song i guess ;)
the chorus is rhianna...nicki wrote her verses
@@scutmcivor that's not what Nikko was saying.
This is proof that everyone autotunes their vocals even if it’s just pitch correction u can hear it as soon as this video starts and Rihanna says “I CAME to win”
them speakers make my headphones sound good lol
DAMn J.R. did this? been a while since i got my producers credits up
To be honest you are right 9 times out of 10 but it all depends on the contract they hold . Some artists can own more than that .
@Hertzee Artist make more money because they use the songs in concerts. They do tours with those songs. Tours/concerts = Profit. But still producers get nice royalties outta songs like this.
Jr is the truth!!!!!!!!
Will Jordan on the vocals/songwriting
@RaheemTS The artists still make most of the money, and people think they do all of the work.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

@Th3Hamm3r low quality? lol synths with low bit rates.
yea artist make about 20% tops and theres only a few that get that. a lot of money goes out to studio time. engineers.. and considering this guy damn near made the whole song im pretty sure he got a good amount of money for this. probably some 5 digit number.

Does he use pro tools?
Nicki probably made about 10%. even 50% is ridiculous to say.

@carlogozi Thats not even a comparison lol Beyonce KILLS lol.
Vous voyez que même les pros qui ont des studios a je sais pas combien d'euros ont des Yamaha HS80 M alors on dit quoi bande de ....... qui sont chez KRK

David Polanco Rihanna sang the hook.
beyonce wouldv been better on the hook

Crash course on how to make shitty music with the only intention of pop sales. RUclips next video auto play is complete shit sometimes.
Its sickening to me that people cant write their own hooks.

Yes It's a real persons voice lol. Just sounds like a layered harmony with some sort of effect on the vocals (possibly autotune).
