I never skip any movie with such amazing actors like Jack Lemmon and/or Walter Matthau, Bette Davis and/or Joan Crawford, Shirley Winters, Paul Newman and/or Robert Redford, Robert DeNiro and/or Al Pacino and, of course the ultra gorgeous and super talented Dorothy Dandridge. I'm a night owl and an incurable romantic who's addicted to streaming old movie classics and Jack Benny old radio shows. And if you knew where I am originally from you'd be so mystified. But in any language good quality and funny are what they are. They don't change regardless of where one was born or the language s/he grew up speaking. I'm super happy and grateful for all the quality classic and comedic movies I continue to see online. Thank you much!

Great movie I agree. At no point did I know what to expect and the ending did not disappoint. It puts life into perspective leaving the viewer with what's really important. It's often said of great stories, this is why we go to the movies, this is no different. Not totally related but you might like a movie called "Dangerous Crossing" in the same style as "So Long at the Fair"

This is a great picture about human nature, failure, love and forgiveness. Every part was done so well. Excellent picture reflecting great writing, acting, and production, common in this era, and now practically nonexistent in film. I don't say it because I'm old but because every generation needs a touch of class in their portrayal of others.

Phone Call from a stranger was one of the top-most excellent films of the 50's. Mind you, there were quite a few like 'All about Eve' too. Terrific cast with Shelley Winters essaying her role with a nervous intensity that makes her stand out in startling shades. Bette Davis' character is bed-ridden, but even in her cameo, she gives the performance of a lifetime, recounting her past with a husband she has just lost in a plane-crash, playing back vignettes of their life together, the happy and the sad times, she introspects and relates with a tenacity that only one with her incomparable stature as an actor could deliver. A true tour-de-force in the acting department. A film not to be missed.

Each and everyone brought their abilities to so many other films and entertain their fans for decades. Gary Merrill was an actor overlooked by many, but he was a very talented man. Some said at that time he married Bette Davis to get a break in film. Even if true he still could perform and perhaps done more in his career. This is a good film. One can't go wrong with names like Nunnally and Neglonesco attached to a film.

In real life, Gary Merrill and Bette Davis were husband and wife, during the time this film was made. They were married 1950-1960, and remained friends after their divorce.

Roger that. He starred in "All About Eve" (1950) and married his costar, Bette Davis.

Hey ! Shelly was a fox way back then !! And pretty teeth too. Isn’t it funny how eating teeth can be attractive to the eye. A smile can so completely change a persons face, and the eyes sparkle, it’s such a lovely sight.
