One of the many joys of hiking in the swamps of south Florida. I see these guys often and I've never had a problem with them. I was able to sit down and have lunch with this one.
I neither love or hate snakes. I like for them to keep their distance and want the deadly ones out of my yard. That said, this is my favorite nature video ever! It shows life and death without any philosophical BS. It is very informative on the nature of the subject. Thank you for the patience to record something that obviously interests you and does for me also.
Holy mackerel!! When I first saw that snake with a huge girth, I thought to myself how it must have recently been lucky at having a nice meal. Only to my surprise how much it kept eating. Great video Tim!!
Great video. Seems like it has poor eye sight. Here's wishing you a wonderful Holiday Season. Thanks for the content this year. Hope for more in the coming year.😊
Thanks for the video. I think, Tim 😬 Honestly, more creeped out by all of the damned pythons than those. Their heads aren’t as mean/menacing looking as the invasive species! Be good to yourself and enjoy the holidays with your sister, her kids, parents, friends and the special someone🥂🎄💛
Laughed out loud at you cursing at it! Definitely been there, done that before too! 😂 Just figured you encounter them enough maybe you had become immune. 😉
This has to be one of your best. I shared with others here in Florida. I've encountered many water moccasins back-packing and hunting in the Glades, Maryland, Louisiana, the Carolinas and Mississippi ( And I don't mean Brown Water Snakes) and other dangerous snakes in Texas and New Mexico. . I worked with a Herpetologist while I was in College, back when, and know the difference, usually. I suggest you consider sharing the video with universities with those studying reptiles, it really is that good. Just a note: I hate to see people that anthropomorphize animals with emotions, like anger or vengeance.
Yep, they are that sneaky snake that I don't like either Tim. As living in Perry which I believe you may know where this is they love our cypress swamps and just as you see they are already mad it seems and if your not looking for that white mouth which is how they got the name cottonmouth you can get in trouble quickly. And as I know they also are found in groups or packs so you have to double check the area where you see one as a lot of the time I've found more than one. Came up on a little water spot one time that looked just like a small area you could step across but as I seem as I came up on it there was one sit on the other side with that white mouth open as you captured in your great video. So I thought I'd just walk around one end but low and behold their lay another so I said I'll try the other end and well that was not good either so as I stood back as I normally do when I come up on a place like this low and behold right there just on the other side of a limb laying there where I was just going to walk up and step over their he laid another one just ready to strike that just as you come into range of his striking distance unless your fast and lucky he would get you and probably one of the others depending on how you react to one. As I said sneaky snake and that was during archery session and I decided that day I'd just go back home and wait for another day as they could have the woods as I had all I want looking out for them as you could say they ran me out that day. I've had one strike me as I walked by a cypress one time that thankfully my camo pants were loose enough it the slack in my pants and not my leg. It scared the crap out of me and I reacted by taking him out as it was gun season then and he want be hiding in the roots of a cypress anymore. As they are good at being sneaky and know where to hide for their prey. Just it's not going to be me if I can help it and I leave them alone if they do the same. But that day I took action as they can make you hurt yourself as well to which I reacted to his move that didn't end well for him but at the time made me feel better as he was not going to get a second try and as you know cypress knots are usually everywhere and I did almost fall trying to get away and at the same time I stuck back with a 12 gauge. But I love your videos and this one was one of your best I must say as it's something not everyone gets to see and how you need to be careful when in the woods for they are everywhere being the sneaky snake they are as they don't give you a warning other that white cotton mouth to which you better be looking for in our swampy woods. As the old rattler pretty much I have found will give you a warn and try to slip away but you can place him where he feels cornered and that rattle will be your warning that you need to be the one to slowly slip away of which hopefully you can do. As neither snake is one you want to be bitten by nor others like the old copperhead and ground rattler that does play nice either and their bite is not one you want to recieve either. Florida has some beautiful woods and hamcocks but as you know there is critters that naturally live there to which we are the unwelcome guest at times when we incounter them. Just as you know that old gator can have a additude as well but still today even though I lost my wife to cancer one day crabbing at Hickory Mount which you may know of as well one about 3ft long as she sit on a bucket decided to side up on the bank between her legs while she was pregnant with our only child as luckly I think he was focus on me standing just a few feet away and maybe just though she was like a log or something he could slide up on the shore next to. And thankfully she being a outdoor girl as well just frozen and as I slowly move to him he just slowly slid back into the water. So you never know what your encounter as you beautifully captured in this video as to what your'll see or may not want to see or encounter but it can turn into something special to share and remember as you tell or share a video to which you where able to make. Be safe and hopefully maybe when you get back up this way to Tallahassee you can get some great fox videos from sis yard I believe is where you where able to get the great fox videos. I've got a few on my trail camera and have been able to capture my visiting deers every year and even have them laying out in the front yard chilling out after a feeding in the grass I let grow for them during the summer time. Had a feeder I used in the back for a while but old racoons squrriels opossums and rabbits which I trying to improve this that only the deer feed from it. But this has been some great videos for me as the deer you wouldn't think would even be here but have been for many years now.
That's an "all you can eat" buffet for that snake!
She’s trying to eat as many as possible before they all die. ❤️🤗🐝
this is national geographic level footage. I am really impressed. good job
Good reminder that nature isn't all butterflies and orchids.
Great video Tim. That water moccasin said "GET BACK THIS IS MY DINNER!!"

Thanks for setting aside your fears to capture and share this spontaneous wildlife cameo appearance. Awesomely intriguing.
That is super cool Tim. Thank you for taking the time to video and
share.
Well that snake must of thought he was at Golden Coral or any all you can eat buffet

Amazing footage. Thank you for sharing with us.
Incrível esse registro. Parabéns.
She was so full she could barely move!
That's gonna be one fat snake after that feast.
Great video!!!
WOW Tim what a find! Dang I dislike snakes but this is interesting, not sure I would have stayed long enough to video this. Great job.
Very cool video Tim! I watch all your stuff.
Holy mackerel!! When I first saw that snake with a huge girth, I thought to myself how it must have recently been lucky at having a nice meal. Only to my surprise how much it kept eating. Great video Tim!!
Your creepiest video yet. 😂 It seems to prefer the catfish over the minnows.
You need a large walking stick! Enjoy your videos very much thanks for sharing them!
Awesome video Tim! 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Nice video! It’s great to see this beautiful snake! Thanks for sharing
That is one of many critters I get nervous you might come across when you walk in the water. Great video anyway!
Another great video! Thanks for posting. 👍🏻 Hope you have a good Christmas.
All those fish and no fries.
WOW Tim, That was a BIG FAT Cotton Mouth 💛
That's a pretty pissed off squirrel too!
He's got his own little buffet there
amazing footage!
Great video. Seems like it has poor eye sight. Here's wishing you a wonderful Holiday Season. Thanks for the content this year. Hope for more in the coming year.😊
Best cottonmouth video ever!!! Amazing!
Big fat one. He's been eating well
Wow! That guy was having a feast!
Man he’s going to get fat eating all those critters.
"Give it to us raw... and wrrrrrriggling! You keep nasty chips."
Scared you bad 😂 don’t blame you
Great videos.
I'm impressed.
Thanks for sharing
Great video Tim. Your boys have to win one more tomorrow night and they're in the CFP!!!
He didn't waste any venom on those fish. Ammo is expensive.
Laughed out loud at you cursing at it! Definitely been there, done that before too! 😂 Just figured you encounter them enough maybe you had become immune. 😉
Great share by the way. 👍
This was fantastic. Thanks!
Wow! Talk about easy pick'ins
He found some easy fishing. Apparently he likes the little Catfish till they spine him and then decides on something easier with less fight.
thank you for showing us the wonderful part of life we are to afraid to see.......T H A N X
Incredible never knew that they ate fish 😊

Loads of fish for such a tiny snake.
Quite the catch! Like a King lording over his little kingdom. Were these minnows high and dry becaue of an outgoing tide in the swamps?
That is a cool video. I've never seen one like that. Great job....and be careful😂
Cool video 👍
How many fish did the snake eat? What a video!!! Thanks
Not the brightest 'apex predator' in the swamp.
And didn’t need any to use any venom. Great video!
Ewww! I’m not a fan of snakes. They add value to the ecosystem but no value to me.😖 Nice video Tim!
now that was cool
Thank you Tim. That was pretty cool.
Fish Buffet
WoW🎉! Awesome camera work💗
That snake will get filled up sitting there for awhile. Must be molting as acts like it cannot see, and eyes covered over.
Great video! Love your photography. Its amazing.
i hate them too.
Cool vid
SNAKE BUFFETT
Why are there so many fish stranded? Is it tide? Easy meal for a snake.
It's a swamp.
Water lever rises with rain, then drops and they get stranded.
Just a critter trying to get a snack. lol.
in michigan i walk anywhere. in florida i stay on the sidewalk or parking lot.
Snake found the buffet
Rip fish
What is the difference in FL and regular?
Chemicals

It's a relatively young snake, so its gonna show down
Satan's hand puppet.
