How to Use BEING (verb, gerund, participle, noun)

- BEING is a confusing word. This is because it has multiple functions, including as part of a verb (is being, am being, are being, was being, were being) to describe a behavior or attitude or to show a passive continuous action (is being given); it can be a gerund (being happy is important); it can be a participle (being tall, John made the basketball team); or it can be a noun (human being).
In this video, we look at all these functions, with sample sentences, so that you can apply them correctly in your writing.

It's basically simple past passive vs. present perfect passive. Make sure you know how to use both of these.
This is really helpful.

Hey Adam. Greetings!
I've come across a small issue thinking about something that I should have done but thinking that in English. So, it came to me the doubt: "should I use EXCHANGE, TRADE, or SWAP verb?"
I've searched a lot and ended learning like this: SWAP and EXCHANGE are similar, moreover could be the same for TRADE. However, TRADE is preferably for exchanging or swapping that involves any kind of values.
What do you think?
Thanks❤
Very useful thank you.
Hi Prof Adam!
At 11:33 Can we say:

Hi Adam. Hope everything is fine.
Can I ask you whether my sentence bellow is correct?
"Glad to know they keep being cared for by such loving people "
It doesn't seem to be a passive sentence, though that wasn't my intention and I ended up writing a gerund.
This gerund and participle subject is so confusing!
Thanks in advance.

I want know about " auxiliary verb + to"
For example: He were to punish them.
Great 👍🏻
I love you man
I like swimming ( Active ). I like being swum.( Passive ). Is it true. Please reply
We don't usually use the passive with non-action verbs (like, love, etc. ) also, the main verb is like, not swimming. Being is a gerund after like (I like being tall).
Does this help?
please sir make a video on part, thank you sir
I can say " the order is still being preparing or the order is still being prepared

On Friday, several residents from Poonthura had come out on the streets, despite the area being a containment zone. Here "being" is what " Verb, gerund, participle or noun?
Hello, I loved this lesson. However, I still don't understand the function of "being" in the following: "What if I told you that breakfast being the most important meal of the day was wrong?" I think something was omitted in the sentence. Could it be "What if I told you that (considering) breakfast being the most important meal of the day was wrong" or maybe "What if I told you that (the fact that) breakfast is the most important meal of the day was wrong?" Thank you in advance for your attention!
Great
thanks
Being with you or Been with you
Which one is correct?
One of the most famous tests involves putting trainees in a deep pool with their ankles tied together and their hands tied behind their back. it has two purposes. First, it gets them comfortable being underwater in adverse conditions.--- here being underwater is a participial phrase or gerund? and what parts of the sentence is it?
@@WritetotheTop Much appreciated, Adam
@@WritetotheTop one more question, I checked online for adjective compliment, all I can find is that they have three types:
1.Prepositional phrase
2.Infinitive phrase
3.Noun clause
Why they don't list gerund phrase like in our case "I am happy being here."? Thanks!

"Chief Minister Pinarayi said that the lockdown may have affected the state of mind of many children and they may be more sensitive to parents’ scolding or other domestic issues. While the reasons may seem as trivial as "being" scolded for playing a mobile game or bunking an online class, harsh words of parents may affect them gravely." - In this sentence I believe "Being" is "VERB (Behavior or Attitude.
