- In Israel, ultra-Orthodox Jews make up 15 percent of the population and enjoy a special status. They do not pay certain taxes and are exempt from military service; a privilege that has been questioned by some politicians since the war against Hamas erupted. But ever since the October 7 attacks, thousands of young ultra-Orthodox men have come forward to volunteer in the armed forces, even if their families don't always support them in this endeavour. Immense respect for these boys. They know that they cannot bury their heads in the Torah and expect Hashem to swat all our enemies away by himself. HE has helped us tremendously, Israel has a very powerful army, some of the most sophisticated weaponry on the planet and incredible warriors. But it is a tiny country with a small population and many enemies.
The IDF has made a special brigade for religious boys and men. There are no women, food is kosher, you’re allowed to pray and learn, if you’re not being shot at of course, and these boys will be proud. They will be proud that they served their country in it’s time of need, they protected their families their friends and everyone else but most of all, they will not let others do all the fighting for them! Blood and honor yet call to the man!

Christian Nationalism is actually the basis for the strongest democracies. The UK, Denmark, and Zambia are all constitutional Christian democracies.

If their goal is to support crimes against humanity, then their beliefs need to be questioned. Is it true that they still hold their beliefs, or have they sold them to Netanyahu. It could almost be said, those who return from a holy land that they believe in will return with misfortune because they want to desecrate what they believe to be a holy land. If not, why do they worship and defend what they believe. Of course it is questionable what they have been worshiping all this time. That means they have doubted what they worship and want to come there to cause chaos. Even though their religion teaches otherwise.

They should not be exempt from national service but could be given the option to serve in other capacities outside the IDF. This should include everyone regardless of gender or religion. For example, they could potentially serve in hospitals, ambulances, police, or fire departments to satisfy their national service obligations.
That was already offered to all Israeli in lieu of IDF service.
You can serve in the border guard, police, it was called Sherut Leumi. If you are not eligible for IDF or unwilling because you are a conscientious objector

My understanding is that they are not categorized of being a conscientious objector, i.e. they have no problem picking up a weapon and using it, just that the cause for using it must be the right one and that is the issue at hand. Meaning, they do not want to do any work to support the nation. So whether it is active infantry or sitting at a computer terminal doing clerical work, they do not wish to participate.
