Truly was a crazy year for you. You died, had your friends rewatch your death countless times, get resurrected, and then find out your buddy was getting an award for music despite not making music.
and that's just the last few months
Oh he makes music, it's called "music". Never heard?
Hopefully 2023 will bring fewer Soviet issued WWII-era landmine related accidents.
There's a lot of talk about making music. You heard what he said a the end, right?
@@Pedroocas yeah, his channel has 117M subs
Joel graciously brought me along to a couple luchador matches with Tom Kenny and they were the highlight of my whole year. "Wanna come to a luchador match with SpongeBob?" Joel you're awesome.
I’m so glad you two linked up, your styles mesh so well and you’re both hilarious in your own way. Thanks for making so many great videos you guys distract us from how dogshit life is most of the time
Can i go to a luchador match next time?
that's a sentence. like...just marinade in the fact you got to type that out. just sit in that. let it soak in.
this is good. you guys are good too.
Wait what? For real?
Thanks for being my friend this year, love you Joel.
Love you, Ryan❤️
Thanks for every minute of laughter and joy you brought to my life in 2022! You are a rare star. Happy 2023 to you!
"It never gets easy but it gets easier". Thanks I needed that. Love ya Joel. Happy new year.
I feel dumb that i dont understand the quote :(
@@zkme2734 When you have grief it doesnt really ever go away, you just kind of learn to be better at having grief and it takes up less of your capacity to function.
or it doesnt . Only less attached..
I needed to hear it too, and I'll try to remember to say it to people who need it
The term "it gets better" isn't exactly true at all. For some, it gets much worse, and they die in a horrible way.
"I've always found a rock to be a pretty sorry monument for a human life."
Damn ❤️
That goes hard.
just like… a rock.
Saying that after just talking about how rocks are nice, and framing his whole shot after a rock, was pretty funny ngl
I get what he means for sure but rocks are a part of nature and can be incredibly beautiful.
I actually disagree with him. I think gravestones are typically very beautiful monuments to a human life. What else would you use as a monument that would stand the test of time as much as a solid polished rock can?
So proud to see how far you've come. You're always welcome to come hang and shoot with us if you're ever down in Australia. Lots of love from the CrackerMilk crew.
"This is pretty, that's why I did it"
So often people ask me to explain my actions, but so many times it's just because I simply find joy in art and beauty.
this. one of my favorite moments
Hearing you and Trent in High on Life was my favourite bit of the whole game.
fr, I literally pointed at the screen and shouted, "oh shit, that's Joel Haver's voice!"
What!?!?! no way I gotta play this already there's too many games out to play them all!
I didn't know Trent was in it
Same!!
Who?
This whole video just has this spectacular vibe of going for a walk with a friend through the woods near the lake or river and just talking about life, catching up and seeing what they have been up to and talking about life. Nostalgic, warm, a bit of somber. Very Real. Very wholesome.
Friend? What’s that
Joel has a real knack for connecting with that vibe
Parasocial Andy
It's a lovely video.
A treat for fans.
You made a stranger cry with that small part with music after visiting your fathers grave. I dont know if that means anything to you but it sure does to me. Happy new year Joel.
haha, united in tears. I'm covered in snot rn 🤧🥲
I had a really shit year. Probably the worst year of my entire adult life. Felt like I lost everything. Somehow watching this I have hope again. Seems silly that some guy I don't know who makes comedy videos on RUclips can make me cry in a way I really needed to right now.
Happy New Year. I genuinely believe it could be.
I’m sorry to hear you had a shit year. It’s always the worst to look back and be overwhelmed by the bad. Try your best to keep what good there was in sight. Even the simplest moments of good can be powerful. Happy new year. Here’s to hope❤️
Always have hope docbok. I'm glad Joel saw this and commented, cos your worth it. Recently an old friend ended his life and I just wanted to say please speak to someone if you need to. A comment on here, a proffesional or a loved one.
Good luck on the new year
It was insane noticing your voice in the new High On Life game, it’s so suited to your humour and you smashed it!
He wrote some of it too :)
Yeah super happy about that one gaaaaaah
Or was it insaneo?"
I thought he was in it! He was the kid who asks you to shoot him when you hit the slums right?
You get occasional comments from viewers thanking you for helping them to keep the darkness at bay. You should know that for every one of those comments, there are thousands of us who are nodding in agreement. Whenever you're feeling down, take heart that your work is truly saving lives.
Your legacy is quietly majestic, and you have so much more ahead of you.
So we’ll said
Agreed. Absolutely.
Beautifully put. Caught that right in the feels
commenting in agreement
yep, that just made me tear up...
You got out there on that ice. Thanks for all the laughs Joel
Idk what it is but you’re videos fill me with a feeling of inner peace I haven’t felt in quite some time and it’s becoming increasingly rare these days. Thank you for lightening my soul even if it’s fleeting.
I was smoking a joint watching the video and by the time it wrapped up I was like oh my god why do I feel like this it was such a hard feeling to describe but it was like home and peace then I was like oh yeah Joel.
Joel’s the only person who can make an “end of the year” video, that’s better than half the movies out in theaters
He's getting out on that ice!
It really was nice to see him out on that ice.
If he didn't do it, no one would
Wait! Wheres Dinkus???
Lace em up boys and let's get out there, ferda
"Life is pretty cool."
"Yeah. I think so. Sometimes it's not but that's alright."
I don't understand why this hit me like a truck but I'm bawling. Thank you, Joel.
Joel should be labeled as a national treasure, he’s honestly so sweet & kind & funny. Anyone would be lucky to have him as a friend. And the world really is a better place with him in it.
Congrats on this year success and I wish you all the best for the next one dude!
Congrats on the wonderful work you made this year! Post Nuclear Driving Test is one of the best RUclips videos of the year. Happy new year❤️
I was sad that this video ended. I feel like everything he said was so accurate in relatable. In this modern time with everything going on and how crazy things get, I'm glad Joel is still going insaneo style.
I re-hearted it! Saved you from a bunko town demise. Keep going Insaneo Style my friend❤️
@@Joel-Haver Thank you so much! I feel like this is one of those interactions that will never leave my mind.
Hey Joel. I just turned 16 this December and even though I know I have my whole life ahead of me, I feel like it’s all coming too quickly. It’s becoming more and more clear that if I don’t start doing what makes me happy now then I’ll end up miserable for the rest of my life, and your videos have always helped encourage me to do that. You’ve changed my perspective in a lot of aspects in my life, especially film. The future seems so large and daunting, so I just wanna thank you for always letting us know that it’s ok. You’ve helped more people than you can imagine. Keep doing what you’re doing Joel, and here’s to an exciting 2023!
Well think of it this way, you have a whole lifetime to think about and explore all the things you are interested in, or even not interested in just for the experience. Don't be overwhelmed at all the choices that are possible, because at the end of the day that choice is still there. It'll never be too late to change your path. So find one that is interesting enough and get started on it. It won't be the things you tried that you'll regret, it'll be the ones you don't
You sound like you'll have a wise and artistic eye for whatever you choose to do in your future. My advice would be don't worry too much, and do what you want, be bold
Belated happy birthday! Don't feel daunted. As a 33-yr-old who still feels I have loads of time ahead of me, my advice is start taking small steps towards what you want to do. Don't let failures stop you going for it. And also don't worry if your goals change and life takes you in surprising directions. As you get older, things will start making more sense and become clearer. All the best to you 💗
Best advice:
-Try all sorts of classes in college (or community college), exploring and trying things for yourself is the best way to find out what you are good at and what you love.
-Take small steps, but leap into every opportunity, but learn to let go even when it's not convenient or comfortable
-Do everything you can to travel (safely and try not to cheap out)
-Invest in a quality mattress, pillow, and office chair
-Sleep 6-8 hours, and stay on a good sleep schedule
-Exercise
-Drink water
-If you have a hobby, join a group or community with similar interests
-Be willing to compromise
-Don't ever chase wealth or power over others (management)
-Be willing to live by your means, but don't be afraid to treat yourself
-Get caught up in the moment instead of trying to record or repeat
-Eat new things
-Stay off social media
-Find happiness, not temporary comforts
-Educate yourself
Dont smoke weed until youre 21 for the sake of dementia and the prefrontal cortex, and dont get married until 25, because 60% of who you are now will not be who you are in the future. You truly love yourself at that point and can love others wholly. College is an absolute waste unless you want to be *highly specialized.* life only come faster so don't let it get to you now. Go on lots of walks and stay strong.
The shots of Joel picking up the tripod and walking away felt like the perspective of a kid and their parent picking them up and walking away, and that felt beautiful.
It’s been a rough day/week/year but this video was very comforting. Thanks, Joel.
Sorry to hear it’s been rough. Thanks for watching, here’s to some easy days in 2023❤️
@@Joel-Haver Thanks man. Hope the new year treats you well too. ❤️
@@abigailbliss9342 I can't believe he actually replied such a chad
Most of your videos are funny but this one felt warm and comforting, like a hug or wearing a hat your grandma made. I really liked it. Thanks Joel. Happy new year
Just as comforting as taking a goodlongpee 🥰
That’s the perfect way to describe it
The editing, shot composition, music choice… this is probably one of the more beautiful things I’ve seen on RUclips. Thank you for sharing it
God damnit. I wasn't ready for this amount of wholesomeness.
That's the last time artistic flare gets in the way of a llama story.
Only the second video I’ve ever commented on. Joel your killing it. I’m excited to see how your art will evolve. The content you creat is better then anything on the big streaming services. It is respite for those stuck in the hustle and bustle of every day life. Congrats on the Chanel and success. Well deserved. happy new year.
Seconded
This is likely the most sincere and human video I have seen in the last 12 months. Thank you for that
My mother died this year. As I was experiencing that, I thought a lot about the tribute you did for your father on this channel. It helped me.
I don't know how you can be so sincere and warm abs honest and not even 0.000000001% cringe. In 2022. Amazing. And so so so necessary. Happy New Year to you and yours and everyone out there.
Joel has the warmest abs.
Believe it or not, sincerity is never really cringe!
I'm glad that Joel is proud to talk about the little hat that his grandma made for him, it truly shows how grateful of a grandchild he is.
But to be honest, that's a hat worth to show off. Pure quality, functionality and style.
idk why or how but all of joels end of the year vids are so...just heart warming and comforting its just so beautiful and such a great way to start the year
Can't wait what's waiting for him in the future but having worked with Justin roiland must be a great boost for his portfolio.
this man sets up the most cinematic background just to spin in a circle like a kid and i strive to be as happy and fantastic as him
Your dad would be so proud to see how far you've come
This guy should run for mayor!
What are your policies?
@@freddythompson2946 llama pen for all
How grandma made him his hat 🤠 Love Joel
This mayor should run for guy!
Idk, that doesn't seem big enough. I was thinking something more like "World Dictator"
There is something that your videos evoke in me that I have yet to put into words. But I know it always leaves me with a-little more passion for life. Thank you
I can't tell when Joe is in character or not.
You’re doing so great, man. It’s been a joy to watch you succeed. You’re so gracious, humble, and hilarious. You deserve everything that’s coming to you, which is a whole lot.
Joel, you are truly a beautiful human soul that deservers all the success you are experiencing!
Joel, your videos got me through 2 years of lockdown and I think I've left comments on nearly all of them. Thank you. Please keep doing what you do. Your shorts make me cry and yet feel hopeful, so I havent watched a movie yet, I'm not ready to feel so much, all at once, but you're truly once in a lifetime special, and you and your friends seem like either amazing actors, or just genuinely genuine and fairly wholesome people. I'm glad to see when you and Trent get reunited, it makes me happy. I'm so excited for the future and what will come for you.
I’m happy my videos could provide you comfort through lockdown. Thank you for commenting on them! Trent is truly the best! Lucky to have him in my life. Thanks for sticking around❤️
I love this guy. The way he sometimes talks to us like we’re longtime friends he’s catching up with, sharing significant bits of his life with us, sprinkling in his trademark endearing goofiness. Makes me feel like I’m a part of his life even though the contact is exclusively one-way.
This year surely went insaneo style for me. Keep it up Joel.
A real bunko town year
@@anonymous71207 never heard of 'insaneo style', but bunko town for sure is iconic!! Good one cheb!!
@@MrWillsonx only thing I know it from is mo1stcr1tikal
@@BlueZirnitra you dont watch and memorize every single joel haver video in existence?!
Definitely a insaneo style year ending video.
I really enjoy the part where Joel and Trent are hanging out and just talking about random stuff. The cinematic shots are so natural and so alive. It's such an amazing and calm shot.
My dad died in 2019 too. When you said what you said sitting in the graveyard I laughed so hard and then I cried for the rest of the video. Thanks for touching my heart tonight. You’re such a different kind of person from me, but you comfort my soul, all the same. Love to you, man. Glad you had a crazy year. Me too. Here’s to another one.
Joel, your videos bring me so much joy. I cry sometimes but I always feel weirdly good after. Thank you for making the world a better place to be.
This guy is the realest of the real. No fame gone to his head.
Hey Joel, you're a really admirable guy. I'm glad I've found your videos
the year in review vids always feel so wholesome
oh don't mind me, just balling my eyes out every year. you're amazing joel
In today's climate of advertisements and commercials and endorsements and profits being shoved down our throats, your channel is so honest and refreshing. It's like a breath of fresh air. It gives me hope for the future of content creators that we all don't have to conform to be successful. Keep doing you and thank you
You probably won't read this but I just want to say I'm so happy for you! The time and energy you put into your videos really shows and nowadays with so many youtube channels it's hard to find anyone making the content you make. You're like the dunkey of shorts and you deserve everything that comes your way! Keep bringing your friends up with you ❤️
The video gives me the same vibe as the talks your friends have late into the night at a sleepover. Reminds me of somber yet happy days.
“It doesn’t get easy, but it gets easier” really hit hard and had some tears going, I’ve struggled a lot this year but it’s also the year I’ve finally took the early steps to change that. Really nice video Joel, I only found this channel about halfway through the year but I’ve loved it since, keep doing you ❤
I wish I had a friend like Trent.
Trent is amazing.
yeah
Facts
Excited for next year Joel and your hat was beautiful I could feel the love providing the warm. Stay safe this upcoming year. WE LOVE YA!!!!
It's helpful seeing someone else my age going through the loss of their father. Makes me feel like I'm not going through this alone
I think I get this vibe from you that it's nothing like "Natural Talent".. It's just - Natural...
and for some reason that is such a difficult thing for a lot of us to achieve or understand, but you really put it all out there and you make it work. You're like a bridge to our understanding; truly, that the little things- the smallest things can have amazing and great impacts. You're a treasure, Joel.
Ya frickin' dope.
Thanks for a year of incredible content! Can’t wait to see what’s in store next year 🎉
Dude you are a gem, a national treasure.
When it comes to your dad, my dad passed away on Christmas eve, three years ago... and your right, it's never easy... and I still think of my dad all the time...and it hurts... like my father, I'm sure yours is happy your living your life to the best of your ability and following your dreams...
Hello Joel! I wanted to tell you that this video is awesome! I guess you could say, it goes straight to bunko town!
What you said about your dad and the whole idea of gravestones was very touching Joel
“Ive always found a rock to be a pretty sorry monument for a human life… especially one as special as [my dad’s]”
damn that hit hard ;-;
I lost my father right before Thanksgiving in 2022. You visiting your father's grave really hit me hard. Hope you have an amazing new year Joel, keep making amazing videos, they really go insaneo style.
when Joel says "I love you all" at the end and it's the most genuine thing you've ever heard on the internet.
These videos always feel like such a journey to get through. Chilling, impactful, emotional, humble. Thank you for being you.
I hope you never get "too big" to make another one of these yearly check-ins.
Please keep being you, Joel. Same goes for Trent and everyone else you share with us.
You're what makes the success happen, that bit of human magic. Thank you.
This year did go Insaneo Style
Thank you Joel. I needed that cry. ❤️
I have brittle bones (Osteogenesis Imperfecta) and had a lot of broken bones this year and trouble with a broken back. You made my 2022 enjoyable and gave me a smile when I really needed it. We all love you Joel ❤
I can’t think of any other creator that could produce a year end wrap with this amount of artistry and heart. Happy New Year, Joel!
Thanks for being open about your struggles and stuff, Joel. It eases the loneliness. ❤️
This video embodies what the world today has so greatly forgotten. “Life is pretty cool. Sometimes it’s not, but that’s alright….kinda goes back to ‘coolness.’” That really hit home ❤
Joel is just a pleasant man to listen to. There’s something almost wise about somebody who speaks so awkwardly yet comfortably
My dad passed 3 years ago October 24th and the way you talk about your dad really resonates. Great video and happy of how much you’ve accomplished this year!
Just wanted to say thank you for your content man your talent is amazing and I hope to see more!
Joel your videos have an intimacy to them that a lot of film makers strive for and never find. Not just when you share your personal life but how you choose to. It feels organic and personal in a way that is very unique to you and I'm always excited to see what you make. You are an inspiration, which I don't say lightly. You make creating infectious and accessible. You videos keep getting better in quality without feeling so put together that it's hard to see someone picking up a camera and making something. It has the quality of old internet content being made by people who just want to create while having a far more honest and genuine sensibility. You may not realize it but in a decade I'm certain there will be a wave of artists who only started because you made creating seem possible to them. Your art is important because people like you remind us that we can all make the content we enjoy and the only hurdle is starting. Me and my sibling are trying to save up for a camera because of you. Because you reminded us of when we were kids making videos with our toys and cell phones not caring about who would watch or how it looked. We are adults now but you reinvigorated that child like wonder in creating again and for that I will always love you and your art. You're a special guy Joel, thank you for everything.
This video inspired me to go on my own little contemplative walk around town today to just think and reflect. It was really really great
Thanks Joel
Don't want to write a whole essay, so I'm just gonna say that this was one of if not the most emotional and relatable things I saw lately. Great job. Keep it up
I am glad that he got back on that ice!
Your a beautiful man joel. I've been watching for just over a year and your light hearted, fun, obscure content has effected my personality already. Thanks for being you mang.
Beautiful video ♥️ This is also my second New Year's without my father. Before, I didn't truly understand why people felt sadness with the new year simply for it being the new year. But as life goes on, I now see where that nostalgia and melancholy comes from, even if it also mixed with excitement and hope.
These videos just get me. such a powerful feeling they bring forth. melancholy yet slightly hopeful
This was my favorite 2022 you’ve had yet Joel. Congrats!!
I don't usually comment on anything really but after having my own "craziest year so far" I really wanted to say thank you for sharing this collection of thoughts, hopes, pain and warmth.
You're inspiring and I appreciate the heart and soul you put into your work.
"Definitely meet your idols, and when you do go to luchador wrestling matches with them cause it's fun." - Joel Haver
Truly wise words, Joel. Thank you.
You did the thing! 2:17
Edit: wasn’t expecting this video to become so emotional- I love your content as always and thanks for sharing your stories!
Just wanted to say that you are by far one if not my most favorite content creator, and I'm so happy that I found your channel. Each video you post truly brightens my day. Also was very happy to see you and Trent in high on life :)
I love your composition and find it very relatable with "This is pretty, that's why I did it". I love looking at the world and finding the beauty in it.
Your stuff has been a genuine help with my own grief, Joel. It's endlessly relatable while being utterly unique to you. I can't thank you enough. Here's to yet another crazy year of dodging, coping and loving 💕
I'm always happy to see you succeeding, You are a genuinely nice guy and a brilliant content creator. Thanks for all the entertainment throughout the years!
Much love to you and your family ❤Have a fantastic New Year, mate! 😁
Joel's the crocodile hunter, if crocodiles were emotions.
One of my favorite Joel videos. Just wow. So much here. And so touching
You inspired me to start my own channel this year Joel, thank you for everything you are a real artist and an amazing human being!
This reminds me a little of Wes Anderson's narrator characters and their lives. I love this style of storytelling.
I think the static composition of the backgrounds lends to the Wes Anderson feeling as well!
Still waiting for the easier part. Thank you for this one .. Will be unpacking the blankets mom crocheted .
Bonko Town went Insano Style this year.
Edit: just finished the video. That was beautiful man happy new year, thanks for your content. It's refreshing.
the pacing in this video seems like your skits and at first thats what i thought it was, i found you and your channel about a year ago or so from a streamer that was watching your "first time playing an RPG" video and i dug to find the channel and i quickley fell in love with it. every skit you make is so charming and funny and when i click on one it just keeps me entertained and satisfied every time in the best way possible and im so glad i found you. i hope you keep making your amazing content and have fun doing it, heres to the new years!
