Thank you so much Kim for the purchasing trials for your viewers. There are many times I wanted to order from other vendors, but I guess I am not as brave as you are and of course I'm not willing to spend more money on those bare root roses if I can get health guarantee from the already known nurseries like DA, Heirloom, and others. Always appreciate your videos.

I never liked Dr. Huey understock. In my 25 years of growing roses, only less than a handful perfomed decently grafted on Huey, so I don't blame you for wanting to try another understock. I find that Multiflora understock is far more suited and superior for my northern Canadian climate zone 4/5. I also grow old garden types that are grafted on laxa but not for the same reasons as tender varieties; they'll eventually put out their own roots above the graft. 🌹Excellent video!

Thanks so much for watching. In the US, we only have a handful of suppliers for roses grafted on Multiflora. I wish it were more prevalent.

I LOVE the background aesthetic! I can't wait to see every single 3 month check in. :)
There are so many variables when purchasing roses (your growing season, weather conditions, etc.) and especially with living plants, it can get even more complicated.
I would love a chat with a vendor's perspective about what headaches they experience. I'm sure it's frustrating for all parties to include a conversation that a rose is not up to the vendor's standards and what to do in those cases.
I hope you can find your other David Austin roses soon! (I'm keeping my eyes peeled out for Summer Song. lol)

If a vendor wants us to take a leap of faith with no warranty, they had better up their customer service.
Also, advice from the community. Potted grafted roses I have had for several years are getting brown canes and I think they’re done for. None of them struggled last year and I didn’t prune til March because the weather here in 7a has been erratic. I do mulch on fall and give them a light trim to remove whippy growth and crossing stems. What do you think? Wait a bit or shovel prune?

@@TheRoseGeek it’s been such a weird year. Several thaws and freezes my camellias got bud blast two years in a row so they’re getting rehomed. I’ve lost 3-4 roses and a peony….but I replaced them with a lilac and a cascading hydrangea…and red eden and fragrant masterpiece will arrive next week. Thankfully, the CPM from you is thriving.

I ordered Evelyn from One Love Rose and Garden for Fall delivery but if I get a message from another honest vendor saying Evelyn is available, I won't hesitate and order it too because is a hard to find rose. Learning a lot from you, I need some type of warranty, I didn't check on that in the past. Still that some of the roses you got have small roots or canes, I hope they grow and bloom soon. Thanks for another unboxing.

They are. Only useful for what rare roses they have left, and those short grafts. Like 'For You with Love'. Compare their photo with the photos on HelpMeFind. Hortico hasnt been doing itself any favors.
They did get better at sending the correct roses, but its just not enough now with having 1/5 the rose varieties they once did.
