When I was a kid I couldn't get into this game at all and made no progress. But it scared the bejesus out of me. After watching this video, I dug it out and blasted my way to Chinatown. Your tips about critical shots, strafing around corners and such made this SO MUCH FUN TO PLAY. Can't wait to play more!
FINALLY! A great RUclips review on one of my favourite games of all time, it's not been covered very well until now. I played it when it first came out in 2000, when I was just 11 years old. I've loved it ever since, but know almost nobody who has actually played it, and haven't been able to do my own review (though I want to) as I don't know how to stream ps1 games? Your video is funny, well edited, and covers the aspects of the game well. Nice one dude :) One thing you missed though was the collectable Glyphs that are hidden throughout, and you have to go through multiple playthroughs to get them all. They give you info about all the different vampires types and houses, and add a lot of replayability.
Thank you so much man! I really appreciate the kind words. I was genuinely surprised with how much I ended up enjoying this game and I’m glad there are more people out there who feel the same way about this game.
Makes me really want to play Blade on PS1. Haven't done so since 2012 when I reviewed it. I actually dig the economy in the PS1 games as in the movie, Blade takes a watch off of someone ("this ain't the march of dimes"). The only other M rated comic book games of the era really were Turok and Shadow Man. Funny enough, Redd Pepper voices Blade and Shadow Man.
I love the idea of Blade seasoning his sword with garlic powder. Also, the GBC game looks super cute, I need to track that one down. Great video, Diego! Your editing is clean AF.
Thanks so much, Josh! I wanna see a suit up scene of Blade decking out in a bunch of garlic. With one of those Hawaii style floral necklaces, but garlic.
Pleasantly surprised to see a good review for the PS1 Blade game, the PS2 game was so much better but this was a solid start. Shocked they aren't worth more $ for collectors, solid games
Great review, enjoyed the video. An interesting tidbit for you for the 1st gbc boss: if you knock out all the minions on each floor and THEN go into the all rooms in reverse order, then go see the boss,...it completes the stage without having to fight it :O i learned this biaccident!
Man, such a cool topic for a video series. Glad I re-found you channel recently. A shame titles like these don't get much attention, let alone remakes or remasters.
The story for this one sounds great. Ancient, unnamed evils, spooky cults. Every horror game from the 90s! This video was long, man. Well done for packing it full of content, with the bonus episode of Pocket Heroes! :-D
Thank you, Matty! I’m really happy with the way this one turned out. I totally agree with you. The story here kept me interested from beginning to end.
Thanks for this review Diego, I have played this game many times and I like it, also the music is interesting. Graphics were awesome for a ps1 game and the variety of weapons is cool. I'm replaying this game with retroarch, beetle ps1 hw core and vulkan plugins and the graphics looks fantastic, sharp, and colorful, give it a try again.
7:34 understanding that would help me 20 years ago lol 8:54 actually there is. Consume some serum, and then just tap rapidly the X (but not too fast) so you do just quick slashes without doing a combo attack, it's much more effective
I was just playing blade for ps1 for fun retro gaming time. Loved blade! I hope marvel will give him credit for financially saving marvel franchise. Nice video man.
Great review and I share the same thoughts about it. I have this game, it's sitting right next to me. I've played it before, but it's been so long. I thought about replaying it again.

Fantastic vid man. A passionate yet still fair take on a hidden gem. Keep up this quality and you'll soon attract the kind of audience effort like this deserves. You may want to check out Jackie Chan Stuntmaster for the PS1. That's another hidden gem that I suspect both you and your viewers will enjoy. All the best going forward mate.
Don't mention it dude; the praise I gave you was well earned. This video and the way you covered and presented the game is easily on par with channels that have a sub count in the 100k+ territory. Special mention goes to the way you structured everything. You essentially took the viewer through the entire game, begining to end, with you as you simultaneously and organically covered all the points you wanted to make along the way. A review spliced with a mini analysis: an excellent format for a video like this. It's both informative and engaging, hence why it's a pretty popular format. It's a shame your Blade II review wasn't presented in quite the same way (still a great vid though). As for Jackie Chan Stuntmaster, I hope you can get around to it. I'll keep an eye out in case you do make another video akin to this on that title. In terms of gameplay it's basically an evolution of the Streets of Rage series and a precursor to the likes of Devil May Cry. It's one of the earliest examples of a 3D beat 'em up/hack 'n slash that is not only still playable but very much enjoyable. The graphical style has a timeless quality to it as well, which really helps. The combat and traversal mechanics have a bit of a learning curve but it's also a lot deeper that it initially seems.
They can definitely make a remake of this game with a Witcher style game play and Matrix path of Neo combat. Radial wheel for "Slayer Toys" Aka Gadgets. Reason why I mentioned Matrix cause the combat was fun ...the also bullet time. For a blade game they can do what's called "Heightened Senses" which allows Blade to go slo mo for a small duration of time, to make precise shots or evading as you hear Blade's heart beat fast. Also it can be used to smell different blood types for tracking. The Witcher aspect of it would come from preparation for monsters and other things that go bump in the night, also the investigations through examining scenes following the main story and side missions.
I tried this game but didn’t care much for it, but I’ll give it a shot again. I enjoyed Blade II a lot more. If possible, review Blade II playing the Xbox version as it has better graphics, extra animation and runs better than the PS2 one.

An upgraded version of that lamp (now a cannon) in the game, and you can't beat the final boss without it.
