  • I've always wanted to do videos about this game, and I have beaten it once before, so enjoy your treat! I decided to add background music to compensate for a common criticism that the game did not have any. I used a mix of Streets of SimCity music, Sims 1 music, and library music. Streets of SimCity was a bad game and I don't want to play it, but the jazzy car chase music seems to fit well with World's Scariest Police Chases.
World's Scariest Police Chases is an okay game with a decent amount of replay value. What I like most about the game is the nostalgic art style that reminds me of good ol' America. The city of Ashland is well-designed and detailed for an open-world PS1 map, with every area having its own flavor. You've got a mix of city centers, recreational areas, farmlands, and suburbs. I can't tell if it's supposed to be California or the southern US, but I can tell the city looks pretty warm.
Now to address the weak points of this game. Some missions can be quite unforgiving, since they can use time limits at unnecessary stages. The handling is quite haphazard and the car selection is lacking, and it doesn't help that some car models in this game are unplayable. There's a red sports coupe that I wish was drivable. The game makes use of a bonus rewards system called "commendations", which often represent unlockable vehicles and game-changing options, such as funny texture/audio themes, slow motion, and something called "Silly Speech", which adds funny dialogue spoken by a drowsy Swede. Earning commendations is done by completing additional yet hidden objectives such as beating a certain time, not hitting/damaging anything, and so on. I decided not to show the process of earning those commendations, as I want to focus on the general gameplay and what the game would be like with music.

The sudden jump in views is quite peculiar, since this is a gameplay vid of an old and obscure PS1 game.

You can beat DUI Dummy by pursuing him, but not inflicting damage to the vehicle yourself. This may be tedious, but the AI also takes a route through a car park that the suspect may have trouble getting out of.

I'm aware of that, but as I said in the description, commendations are not my concern. I will, however, earn them off-screen.

In an alternate universe, Alex is an officer instead of a Street Racer.

Yup, I wouldn't mind being one. After all, I enjoy watching American police bodycam videos, which can often be hilarious, and I enjoy enforcing the rules, laws, and whatnot.

@@alexsaffamerica Sounds cool. I like buddy cop movies like Lethal Weapon, Tango and Cash, Rush Hour and Bad Boys.
