I feel like they perfectly built the song and the mv, gotta say they never go too far or do too much, they just nailed being calm, natural and positive idk its so good
I feel like people don’t like it as a title track and that’s why they call it boring or not good but if it was just another song in the album I feel like everyone would love it. I personally love it . yes it’s weird because of the arrangement but after the first listen and shock of the arrangement your brain isn’t weirded out by it and you begin to love it and it just makes you feel real good. Your reaction proves that because you can see the difference in both times you watched it. It’s no record-breaker but my god does it make you feel good like the main character and this is the song playing during the montage
@@erismiracle9779 they came back with NCT dream so its likely we'll only have a chance in show champ unfortunately. I don't get why WM always times their comeback with them 😶
I just heard the entire album 💿. My thoughts were “DID THE SELL THEIR SOULS TO THE DEVIL OR SOMETHING “ this album feels like all girl K-pop albums bound in one album. Everything is perfect too perfect like the balled song everyone sang too well vocals on point I was like what the hell. It made me have goosebumps
@why we whispered hehehe 😂 am glad you had a listen to the album 💿. I wish more people would listen to it because it’s really an amazing album. I was listening to it today again this time I was paying attention to the back up vocals and instrumentals again I got goosebumps. To be honest I got teary 🥲 a bit because I have been a fan for a long time and now this album is like a payment to my loyalty
The song makes me weirdly nostalgic 😅 and it feels me with joy. It also really reminds of Weki Meki's Siesta and IU's Lilac 🍃🌄🌷I love this type of concept, so refreshing!
This is definitely the type of song that gets better the more you listen to it especially during a night drive Ig they also just wanted people to vibe to the song that's why they didn't choose a catchier title track
i'm a massive oh my girl fan and i did love the track. that last chorus where they go through everyone's voices is just magic. if i had one critique it's that it ends very aptrubly, i would have loved an extra phrase, vocal or instrumental. i think it would have really wrapped it up better
im a big oh my girl fan, and i love real love a lot! i think this is their most different tt so i understand why others wouldnt enjoy it, but it still suits omg very well! so excited to see your listening party too! the b-sides are amazing like always
Yeah, it's once again Sunny Visual behind the MV, as they've been for all of their MV's from Secret Garden onwards, along with all of ONF's MV's, and B1A4's Like A Movie. This one really feels like a merging of Nonstop's colourful CGI city and the Jeju shot Dun Dun Dance MV (plus elements of B1A4's Like a Movie during the drop bridge when they're comparing Real Love to a scene from a movie). It really is a video to watch and feel good to as the music carries you along.
Hyojung commented, “We take responsibility for our album preparations as a whole. Among the members, we find it important to talk a lot about how enjoyable the [preparation] process was and how much we understand the album. Since we’re a group that has steadily grown since our debut, rather than dwell on results, it’s more like, ‘Let’s do it again,’ ‘Let’s show them our song.’ We will work hard and take even more responsibility.” Mimi candidly continued, “Honestly, there’s always a desire for [positive] results, but there’s no pressure at all. Especially this time, I realized that you can’t prioritize results whenever you do something. I have belief in my members and I know that they will do well. That’s why there’s no pressure at all and we won’t think about results.” This April, Oh My Girl will celebrate their seventh debut anniversary. For reasons why they’ve received so much love throughout their career, the group picked “the friendship between members” and their “uniquely positive energy.” Seunghee commented, “While there are a lot of reasons, the biggest thing that allows me to receive love from the public is that I first learned how to love myself thanks to my members. I believe that our teamwork has gotten better because we support and comfort one another.” Arin continued, “Ever since I was a trainee, we’ve dreamed together of this image of Oh My Girl now. I’m proud because I think we’ve become a cooler Oh My Girl than we imagined, and I want to tell my members that they’ve worked hard.” Lastly, the group shared their goals for these promotions to be winning first place on a music show and becoming a perfume-like group that can help air out your mood. Hyojung shared, “We want to become a group that’s like the perfume you always seek out, the scent that allows you to reminisce, and the perfume that makes you excited for tomorrow.” 💗👏🏻
Im really digging this comeback. Its absolutely amazing. Listening to that song and watching mv bring joy and “summer” like vibes to it. MV is really pleasingly to watch. And album? For me its one of their best album. Really recommend to check it out.
It is a grower. I don't really enjoy it at first but I grows after more listen. Also, did you know the duration of the song is 3.28? Consistent with the date of the CB and a very important date for their fandom which is their fandom birthday.
The entire album is a no-skip! Thing is Oh My Girl ALWAYS not only bring it with the title but the whole album. Yet the songs always feel fresh and unique but still come together sonically, as an album, so cohesively! It’s the best type of album when without words I can feel how all these songs were meant to be in the album (faves this time are Eden, Replay and Dear Rose)
I like the way you put it...more of a vibe than anything else. personally...the bridge is an absolutely magical moment for me. I could loop the bridge alone and listen for days. for me its the "no...really. we mean real REAL love" moment
i looooove Real Love. somehow it feels like coasting down a hill on my bike... it’s calm and smooth with a feeling of stability. the notes aren’t super high and the choreo isn’t super complicated, even the outfits are varied enough that every member can wear what suits them best while still fitting the concept OMG worked they asses off for so many years and i’m glad they can do something peaceful and pleasant now UwU edit: i should've waited until you said everything to comment lol... VICTORY LAP is exactly the feeling!
Thanks for the great review, PD! You have explained it how Real Love feels like for Miracles. The more I listen to this song, the more my love for it grows. I'm at the point where I subconsciously sing the chorus now. It's too good! Also the MV is definitely high quality. You're right about it being the same people doing their MVs. Most of OMG's MVs are made by Sunny Visual. Looking forward to your Listening Party for the Real Love album. It is a treat!!
PD! I'm pretty sure you'll like the album a lot, it's really good but then again, I've never been disappointed by their music. Really, they make you wait but it's always worth it
First time listening to the song I really wasn't sure how to feel about it.. but its such a grower omg I love it so so much and the whole album is just amazing
when you said listening to this song just puts you in a good mood, I think that totally achieves what Oh My Girl stands for as a group, and that is to make everyone that listens to their song feels happy... that is also the main reasons I keep on coming back to OMG's discography, as much as I love hard-hitting weird songs, most of the time I ends up stick to the easy-on-the-ear, pop chill type of songs on daily basis, and OMG give me just that... I also love how after all these years, they don't force themselves to change according to what being on trend, "slowly & steadily" might seems scary for most group when it comes to popularity, but OMG really embodies those words, and idk maybe I attached it too much with my emotions, but it just makes me feel calm to see a group that embracing the process & time to achieve things without having to lose their identity... great review as always, cannot wait to see you hear the whole album, this album is just IMMACULATE! careful with Drip & Replay, especially Replay! that song is dirrrrttyyyy lol!! truly my guilty pleasure track...
I gotta respect them for making a chill song the title track. You don’t see that much these days with 99% of title tracks being girl crush songs that are all built the same. I never really vibed with their titles but this is my jam.
PD, please tell me you're still doing a listening party for Real Love album. It's highly recommended as it's probably one of Oh My Girl's most versatile albums.
Thanks for your review! Oh My Girl is truly the representative kpop girl group for me. They understand the music needs of everyone. This is a fantastic album. It has a song for everyone, they basically cover all the various genres in this album and they do it better. Real Love is really the signature of Oh My Girl but their musicianship is so good that they are able to do other sounds. I really like them keeping their signature and showing their prowess in other genres. It is difficult to copy them. I enjoy Real Love absolutely like the way you do.
I pretty much agree with you on everything. Solid comeback and I'll definitely be playing this album on repeat. I love how they incorporate elements of past MVs in their new videos. Visually, Mimi stood out the most for me in this video Yooa's line in the second verse vocally.
Sera from ex k pop girl group nine muses says watching oh my girl touches your inner core emotions.. she teared up. I can totally see why and understand. It may seem like a cheerful main title track but in a deeper level, it is also hopeful, nostalgic and sentimental. Oh my girl songs always have a deeper meaning to them, one just need to look deeper! 💜👏🏻
I love it. For me Nonstop and dun dun dance were more mainstream than any other song of them and i missed this kind of more peaceful and relaxing sound they used to had before Nonstop. So for me is such a perfect song and album too
You see, you say that this is not catchy, but it caught me on the first listen. That's maybe because I come from more of a funk/ jazz/ city pop direction than a girl crush kpop one or whatever. Is it the immediate pop of DDD? Maybe not, but it's actually a better song IMO. I will be straight up in saying that the whole album is super strong and 'experimental' without being alienating, just as the best pop should be. 9/10 is a solid score though so I won't argue that too hard :)
i love this song so much! i feel like it's something i can listen to relaxing on a sunny day!! it's happy and beautiful and i really dig the chill vibe
On first listen, the song's start\chorus really draws one into the song. and yes, it puts one in a good mood. I think it is also rare where a title song distribution is almost equal for all members. It does seems like everyone sang for the same amount of time Was wondering when PD is going to check the B-sides for this album when he mentioned the B-sides I think the B-Sides for this is really different. "Replay" is not my type of song but it is surprising enjoyable .
as a casual fan i liked it first listen but it didn't think i would listen to it much compared to other songs from them but after now watching my second reaction to this song it grew so much on me i'm lovin it
I think its a grower, the first time i heard it, i was kind of underwhelming, however the harmonies, the use of ther timbres and god damn Hyojung its a godess. Long time OMG listener, completly agree about the victory lap feel, they above 90% of the industry without a huge company pushing them
I love how Oh my girl always have a bright and hopeful image but yet their bad ass - girl crush - soulful - different genres tracks are always neatly tucked inside their albums. What a smart move!! So never underestimate the power of oh my girl.
I love the song. I probably might love it more than my favorite, A-ing. I think this song came at a great time for me. I needed the good vibes and Oh My Girl delivered. Thank you, Oh My Girl~
Miracle here! I feel that starting with the chorus leaves some things to be desired when it comes around later. This is probably what caused my initial reaction of “it’s lovely… that’s all”. The more I listen, the catchier it gets! I LOVE the final chorus with all members getting a turn.
I thought Drip was the title when I listened to the album as it does the trendy switch up style SM are known for with Girls Generation, Aespa etc and that JYPE attempted with NMIXX. But I think Real Love is refreshingly easy going ❤️
Tbh im a miracle and i didn't love it the 1st listen but the 2nd and 3rd time in really pulled me into it and I’m groovin’ now❤ Also Drip is amazing and could’ve worked as the title if they were going for more hype emphasis~ but like you said, I like that this song is completely focused on chill and refreshing vibes that put you in a good mood✨ Can’t wait for your listening party of the album!
I feel like this comeback is such a moment of growth for OH MY GIRL. I agree with Everything you pointed out. They are now a full established group, with a big reputation and a record of chart success. They have been hovering around the top 20 Kpop female groups for years now, but they are now solidly in the top 10. They no longer need a cray catchy song to go viral (they’ve had 3 already) and they don’t need a MV full of choreo. Now they are under RBW they have a bigger budget to play with, and they can release more experimental singles. Personally I loved it.
In an industry where literally everyone wants to be the main thing, oh my girl did it soo well to be that chill group who can be theirselves and the gp will still love them
Thankyou for saying this!! This song is a gift specifically for miracle (OMG fandom) so i totally understand why some ppl might not like it that much. It does have an unusual song structure and it kinda have no conclusion or some kinda outro at the end which is a bit 'unsatisfying'. But the more i listen to it, for me it is perfect as it is. And looking forward to the performance as well💃
This is actually the side I miss so much from Oh My Girl release, can't express exactly in words. Song structure definitely reminds me of Remember Me, but the atmosphere is a lot relaxing. Btw the choreography for 'Real Love' is unexpectedly intense which is quite surprising to me. Some people think this song is a good b-side, but still misses something for a title track - I see where the point comes from. I still don't consider "catchy" as a must for a title track, rather I would think if the title track actually matches with the group. I still haven't listen to the whole album, but 'Real Love' set my expectation high for the album, let see what will I get from the album.
Sunny Visual has been working with WM artist since 2015... some of the best OMG MVs was made by them like Closer, Remember Me, SSFWL, Nonstop, DDD...real love
real love is that type of music once you listened, you kept wanting for more! please do check out their b-sides too! they have the variety of genre and probably a no skip album
im so happy you loved it ... its getting a bit under the radar cus of the nature of the song but people who actually cared and bothered to listen realises how majestic this comeback was
Remember me had no chorus too haha remember that? This is one title track done differently again and the background instruments reminds me of Rolling by B1A4 .. yes 👏🏻 their b sides are so good.
when you said this would've fit in the DDD album!! exactly my thoughts! and i love that album with my whole heart. i loved Real Love the moment i heard the chorus snippet on knowing bros (i avoided teasers), it really puts you in a good mood
Still highkey waiting for Real Love listening party from you PD. Always ready for patreon subscription just to see your reaction on the album I don't even care how long I have to wait cuz' it would be totally worth it :D
kinda like real love vs other people’s opinions, the odd abrupt arrangement fits with the image of real love (the concept / thought or ideology of it, not the song) by making it feel raw and rocky rather than glamorized and smooth, which makes sense for me but that’s my opinion
I love real love! It’s different! It’s a charm on its own. It is also nostalgic and hopeful! Much needed for spring and in such times! Don’t forgot oh my girl always do their own thing.. they don’t follow a certain formula or music concept unlike others.
This song is just such a viiiibe. People (myself included) were expecting another fun bop, and so seem thrown off. But this song really does grow on you obsessively.
This song does so many things right, it's actually crazy. It has a strong core that serves as the spine everything else is attached to, yet they branch out with specific, almost experimental sounds and different types of vocalization they rarely or never did in the past, yet it sounds like them, in their evolution, comfortable going forward and never leaving fans behind with too much of a jump ahead. And the most important part, that has been a controversy in other songs: the break transitioning into a different style. They did it right. Next Level failed at it. O.O failed at it. Real Love did it right. I enjoyed Nonstop and Dun Dun Dance, but even after all that I still firmly believed Closer was the best song and that they would probably not do better. I think Real Love does it. There is something unique in this song like there is in Closer, something unusual that probably not everyone can grasp, intangible, like an aura making it stand out in the crowd, a force beyond our normal human perception yet we feel it. Or maybe I'm going too deep, I just think there's something very special about this song that most songs just don't have. Like it has a soul while other songs are just sounds arranged in a pretty way and executed machanically.
imo as a fan it's not my favorite title track from them, but it's still good. please listen to the album pd! i love blink so much. darkchild produced it
I love this song and concept but i wish the mv had some choreo scenes, there are some repetitive glamour shots that could've been replaced by choreography shots that i think are always good to see in a kpop video
I like the song and how groovy it is, but it does sound like it needs more transitions. Each segment just...starts and stops. The MV and vocals and overall sound are really fresh and pretty, though.
Yep so I’m a long standing Miracle so i always have high expectations… i think you nailed all the interesting points about this… it has an unexpected structure, the end especially is worth noting because it feels like it could go another chorus when it cuts leaving you wanting more and also acutely aware of how satisfying and joyful the chorus actually is… bold moves to open with it and also to have no group choreography in the clip… the MV just keeps your eyes glued to it… it is beautifully produced and every member knows how to work their angle perfectly… that cones from experience which OMG have in spades. Every OMG release is a gift and this is no exception
It's a lovely, nostalgic song. Visually, it somehow feels like a continuation of several of their videos, like Nonstop, Dun Dun Dance and Bungee. I don't know, knowing it's their 7th year and that their company has been bought by RBW, it's giving me farewell vibes.
I was definitely caught off guard by how chill it was, I think going in knowing its more relaxed really helps the experience of the song also I’m so used to getting choreography in mvs so now that I know it’s not that type I definitely enjoy it much more
The mv is gorgeous I think I was thrown off at first viewing that there weren’t a lot of scenes with the members together until towards the end of the MV + no choreo, now that I know what the MV is gonna be like I enjoy it a lot more-it’s so much harder and more bold to choose to do LESS and I thing OMG really pulled it off
It sounds like a song they would use for a commercial for a singles or couples cruise?? Not in a bad way but definitely falls more into the pleasant vs. spectacular. I do think it needs a second part to its chorus either in general or after the bridge/that final chorus to really be an explosion. Or perhaps a dance break right after the bridge? it just seems to come to a stop vs. concluding/ending.
The songs feels like a more chill continuity of Dun Dun Dance. After a summer full of fun they gave us a relaxed spring hit ✨
I feel like they perfectly built the song and the mv, gotta say they never go too far or do too much, they just nailed being calm, natural and positive idk its so good

I think it is also rare where a title song distribution is almost equal for all members.
It does seems like everyone sang for the same amount of time
Was wondering when PD is going to check the B-sides for this album when he mentioned the B-sides
I think the B-Sides for this is really different.
"Replay" is not my type of song but it is surprising enjoyable .
It definitely suits Oh My Girl and shows their growth and maturity with music- feels classy. Will you be doing a listening party to the album?
as a casual fan i liked it first listen but it didn't think i would listen to it much compared to other songs from them but after now watching my second reaction to this song it grew so much on me i'm lovin it
YOU put a smile on my face, PD :) Also OMG has been killing it for years now and I love this comeback album.
I think its a grower, the first time i heard it, i was kind of underwhelming, however the harmonies, the use of ther timbres and god damn Hyojung its a godess.
Long time OMG listener, completly agree about the victory lap feel, they above 90% of the industry without a huge company pushing them
In the waves of Girl Crushes and Hyper Pops,
this cute R&B song from OMG is very refreshing.
Thank you, Oh My Girl~
as someone who love all omg bsides yes totally agree with their bside vibe
Miracle here! I feel that starting with the chorus leaves some things to be desired when it comes around later. This is probably what caused my initial reaction of “it’s lovely… that’s all”. The more I listen, the catchier it gets! I LOVE the final chorus with all members getting a turn.
I thought Drip was the title when I listened to the album as it does the trendy switch up style SM are known for with Girls Generation, Aespa etc and that JYPE attempted with NMIXX. But I think Real Love is refreshingly easy going ❤️
The album is also great
Tbh im a miracle and i didn't love it the 1st listen but the 2nd and 3rd time in really pulled me into it and I’m groovin’ now❤ Also Drip is amazing and could’ve worked as the title if they were going for more hype emphasis~ but like you said, I like that this song is completely focused on chill and refreshing vibes that put you in a good mood✨ Can’t wait for your listening party of the album!
You need to check out the album! It's perfection
real love is that type of music once you listened, you kept wanting for more! please do check out their b-sides too! they have the variety of genre and probably a no skip album
Yay I am so glad to see PD enjoying this masterpiece too! Real love is love!!
im so happy you loved it ... its getting a bit under the radar cus of the nature of the song but people who actually cared and bothered to listen realises how majestic this comeback was
Remember me had no chorus too haha remember that? This is one title track done differently again and the background instruments reminds me of Rolling by B1A4 .. yes 👏🏻 their b sides are so good.
This song was beautiful. The music video is elegant and beautiful and fresh. I thought it was nice and refreshing
when you said this would've fit in the DDD album!! exactly my thoughts! and i love that album with my whole heart. i loved Real Love the moment i heard the chorus snippet on knowing bros (i avoided teasers), it really puts you in a good mood
Still highkey waiting for Real Love listening party from you PD. Always ready for patreon subscription just to see your reaction on the album I don't even care how long I have to wait cuz' it would be totally worth it :D
I loooooved This MV!!
Hey PD you need to check out the album! The B side tracks are insanely good! Thanks for your review
kinda like real love vs other people’s opinions, the odd abrupt arrangement fits with the image of real love (the concept / thought or ideology of it, not the song) by making it feel raw and rocky rather than glamorized and smooth, which makes sense for me
but that’s my opinion
The album is great! My fave song is Eden, been playing that song on repeat 😌
I love real love! It’s different! It’s a charm on its own. It is also nostalgic and hopeful! Much needed for spring and in such times! Don’t forgot oh my girl always do their own thing.. they don’t follow a certain formula or music concept unlike others.
11/10 from me. So catchy the more you listen to it
This is a great MV and song. Colors and design are fantastic.
i love it and the whole album is sooo good!
Love the old Hollywood vibes in this music video. Love oh my girl!
멤버들이 코로나걸리는 기간들이 생기면서
같이찍을수있는기간이 없어서
3D효과나 CG배경을 많이 쓸수밖에없었대요 !
so subtle, refreshing, liberating song, oh my girl!
The whole albun is PERFECT !!
Like it has a soul while other songs are just sounds arranged in a pretty way and executed machanically.
imo as a fan it's not my favorite title track from them, but it's still good. please listen to the album pd! i love blink so much. darkchild produced it
Aw way is PD so cute! Their opening of their sponsor was so adorable 🥺
I love this song and concept but i wish the mv had some choreo scenes, there are some repetitive glamour shots that could've been replaced by choreography shots that i think are always good to see in a kpop video
might have been bc most of the members caught covid and had to film separated or at different times
@@QQMoarz yeah, apparently Hyojung had to fly to Jeju island 3 times just to shoot her parts due to cancellations and bad weather.
I like the song and how groovy it is, but it does sound like it needs more transitions. Each segment just...starts and stops. The MV and vocals and overall sound are really fresh and pretty, though.
This song is like reliving the shock of experiencing Remember Me for the first time all over again
C'mon PD, don't ignore the existence of Shark. it's so good :(.
Remember me + secret garden + non stop - real love..
It's a lovely, nostalgic song. Visually, it somehow feels like a continuation of several of their videos, like Nonstop, Dun Dun Dance and Bungee.
I don't know, knowing it's their 7th year and that their company has been bought by RBW, it's giving me farewell vibes.
I was definitely caught off guard by how chill it was, I think going in knowing its more relaxed really helps the experience of the song also I’m so used to getting choreography in mvs so now that I know it’s not that type I definitely enjoy it much more
This title track got me in tears by the end. It’s just a very emotional song.
The mv is gorgeous I think I was thrown off at first viewing that there weren’t a lot of scenes with the members together until towards the end of the MV + no choreo, now that I know what the MV is gonna be like I enjoy it a lot more-it’s so much harder and more bold to choose to do LESS and I thing OMG really pulled it off
This song makes me feel good.
The chorus reminds me of that "New York~" song
Its like they took MMM Starry Night, Hyolyn's Summer or Summer and then the CGI from Nonstop and had a baby.
cant wait to listen party by PD
This song just feels like Fromis 9 - we go. I love both of them and the calming effect of each song.
Have the same thoughts. As a casual listener it is a 9/10 but knowing oh my girl and their color, it is definitely a 10/10
