I'm turning 37 and feeling pulled into the mid life crisis... I look at my face and body and I see so many aging signs I don't like ... Milia around my eyes, sun spots, acne scars, red veins around my nose, wrinkles, skin tags on my body etc... I'm begining to entertain the idea of cosmetic procedures. I just need to take the step once and for all...
Yes! More of this type of content. It’s such an opaque thing to navigate and this helps be a more educated consumer of procedures. Can you also include expected/average costs of these procedures?
Thank you! CO2 lasers next, please? From my understanding they also target texture (e.g. acne scars) and/or also talking through some of your thinking behind choosing one modality over another when they target the same issue. Thanks for all you do!
I’m not a dermatologist, but from my understanding, a lot of the time dermatologists recommend a mixed modality strategy to increase the likelihood of getting better results w remodelling the skin w atrophic scarring (microneedling w PRP, series of peels, subcision, RF microneedling w PRP, lasers). CO2 laser isn’t recommended for darker skin types (anything Fitzpatrick 3 and higher). If you qualify for CO2, there will be a lot of downtime because they’re basically removing the stratum corneum to resurface the skin. A dermatologist might recommend other treatments post-CO2 just for maintenance.
Can you break down the different in-office laser that target each skin concern (hyperpigmentation, fine lines. Etc……) and what are some required questions we should ask when seeking out a cosmetic dermatologist to perform the procedure. Thank you for all the knowledge and expertise to all us skincare nerds!! Sending light and positivity from Alaska 😊
Would love a video on botox and filler. I'm 26 and am wanting to get some baby botox in my forehead and above my lip for that "lip flip" look. Now we're seeing more and more of the contraindications to long-term filler use and I see muscular atrophy with botox as well. I've also seen people who are unimpressed with their laser or microneedling giving them fat loss or worsened hyperpigmentation. Which is horrible because it's so expensive. Can you discuss any potential side effects or downsides with in-office treatments?
Thanks to your patient for permitting her procedure to be shown - it is so educational for viewers to be able to see the process to get some idea of what to expect.
I'm stalking you honestly, every time a new video is up I must watch it! Gosh I love these videos. It probably isn't healthy and I apologize :( But you've revamped my skincare routine and made it so simple! Forever grateful.
As a guy, I've been getting botox for 2 years now especially when I turned 33 and saw some frown lines forming. My older brother used to look like a Marlboro Man ad model in his 20's. Now in his 40s, he looks like the after pic of a nicotine patch campaign. My mom looks like she's in her 50s and she's in her 70s so I know there's salvation on my side of the family. I promised myself not to shrivel up like a dried up sultana before I turned 40. I only tell my friends I've gotten botox. But what they don't know is my bathroom cupboard filled with western and asian skincare that had saved my skin for the last 2 years. I do believe skincare and facial treatments go hand in hand.
Dr. Idriss, how do you recommend those who are of the chocolate melanin goodness, find doctors who have worked on patients of color and are experienced with darker skin?Especially for those of us who don’t live in super diverse communities. Would love to learn more about the types of lasers and IPL treatments for darker skin tones. Thank you for your videos! Loved this and love your channel.
Check out Dr. Alexis Stephens on youtube. She's a Black board-certified dermatologist who treats POC patients. She has a video on youtube that addresses a lot of your questions/concerns.
The Style and Beauty Doctor brings several black dermatologists on her RUclips channel! I found Dr Alexis Stephens, Brown Skin Derm and the Acne Expert from her channel.
@@haidehollins It's good. But, I am looking for an in-person derm, preferably a WoC so that I have someone both knowledgeable and invested in my results. Sigh . ..
I had 2 IPL treatments this last winter. I am going to have one more in the fall followed by a chemical peel to get one stubborn bit of pigment. I have been very happy with the results!
Yes! Thoughts on Laser Genesis and/or Pastelle Laser Toning? Anyone here have one or the other done? I'd love to read more about your thoughts/experiences. Thanks!
Cool Peel CO2 laser! I have acne scars and done microneedling twice. It definitely helped. This laser was recommended by my derm. I have very fair skin, dry, been on Accutane twice (over 10 years ago), and now a touch of rosacea that I handle well with skin care. I am looking 100 percent for improved texture.
This is super helpful and makes lasers less intimidating! What's your opinion on at-home radiofrequency devices like Current Body's Tripollar Stop? Are they a good approach before seeking professional treatment or just skip and go straight to professional treatment if one can afford it? Thank you for doing this channel! It's honestly been a game changer for my skincare routine. 🙏

Since I’m all the way down on the coastal Gulf of Mexico, I’ll have to get my Dr. I fix via YT. I’m on the edge of pulling the trigger on the Clear and Brilliant treatment but am slightly fearful. I’m menopausal and have Rheumatoid Arthritis, Raynaud’s Syndrome and Sjogrens. Question is - are there patients who you would advise against any of these treatments and which medical conditions typically run hand in hand with the advise to skip these treatments.
I would love info on ultherapy (isn’t that what you did pre-pregnancy for tighter skin?) or other treatments you would recommend (I’ve had BBL twice & also chemical peels) Looking to keep chipping away at my pigmentation and also to lift and tighten - thank you for sharing! Skincare is my nerd thing 🤩

I hope one day I can visit your clinic for a treatment 😭 I live in Pakistan and you’re literally the only dermatologist I trust (apart from Dr Shah and Dr Maxfield). I have wasted so much money from the age of 14 to 28 trying to fix my acne and it was only after watching your videos that skincare made any sense to me.
I've gotten a QuadroStarPRO YELLOW treatment about 2 years ago and it did wonder for any hyperpigmentation, but I was trying to target my spider veins. She treated my spider veins and it got a tiny bit better, but left me with scaring :-(. Worse of all, white scars that no longer has pigment so if I turn red, those spots stay white. I was very gentle after the treatments (I had 2 of them), I protected my skin with occlusion, washed it with Aveeno Calm and Restore (and used the serum). Some of the scabbing fell off a little too quick leaving other type of scars. What's bad is I still have spider veins and I will need to go see someone else to try to fix that. Now, the scaring I'm referring to is not super bad or so noticeable that I won't go out (I do but have to cover up) but being someone who's suffered from BDD for years it is very difficult for me not to see them as the ONLY thing on my face. I'm worried about other treatment but would love to correct the damage that was done from my previous procedure. I would love to go see Dr. Idriss as I am sure she could see, understand and help me :-)! I rather go 5 times if needed but have a gentler, more gradual result then being scarred for life.
Can you discuss Dual Fraxel Laser treatments? I've seen videos showing people's skin bronze up with color (like a bad sunburn) then slowly peel off over the 3-5 days post treatment to reveal pretty amazing results. Its seems to treat texture, fine lines and pigmentation all at once. Thank you
Dr Idriss, Would you please talk about non-hydroquinone skin lightening products? I just heard (Dr Karam facial plastic surgeon RUclips video) that hydroquinone is not good for your skin and can’t be used long term.😳

Great content. I’ve had my first of three IPL treatments so far at a local med spa with a dermatologist with great reviews…. So far I’ve seen some results already, looking forward to having all three done to see the difference in my hyperpigmentation.

Love this! Could you do a video on using the Tixel please? Fairly new device using heat. 400 degree Celsius. Majority of the settings is no downtime, unless it’s used at a higher setting which os similar to the Co2.
Thank you Dr. Shereene for the informative video. I wanted to ask about your thoughts of Laser Genesis, It was mainly recommended to treat rosacea and redness
Yes, I have a request. An influencer did a treatment in Derm’s office of Sculptra. Showed the insertion of fluid into 3 areas each side of face to encourage collegian production. Came back into office in 3 months( and $1,00 later) a restored face that they hope will last 2 years. Can you endorse or explain this procedure and if you recommend in your office practice.
I have to share my experience, heat won’t help I learned the hard way. Every ones skin is different. But for me what helped was hydroquinone with retinol prescribed by a dermatologist which is higher in percentage along with vitamin C and tons of sunscreen. What city do you live in? I can give you the info to my dermatologist. His amazing. I’m in Los Angeles.
I would love to get this treatment. Very informative post. I really appreciate how you break down the science in everything you share. I wish you the best...where did you get your top and jacket? très élégante 😍
Mineral sunscreens dry my skin out. I can't use the one that so many love by Elta Md. Can you be allergic to zinc oxide or would there be a physical one that has enough of other ingredients to counteract the drying effects of the zinc. Would the Isdin be a good one to try or should I avoid all mineral sunscreens?
What do you think of red light at home masks? Seems like lots of influencers are talking about them - but really not sure if they are worth it. Would love your opinion on that .
expensive. shit like this is very much a be rich already or save for years/pay it off for years kinda of thing. lazers are hundreds to thousands PER treatment (price will vary by location and provider u are seeing) and you typically need multiple to get the results you’re going after so…. a LOT of money. which is where the “you aren’t ugly you’re just poor” comes from lol
This is pretty interesting! I don't have any of those skincare concerns but if I did I think i would be too scared of treatments due being Asian, where asian skin is more easily irritated and triggered by treatments causing hyperpigmentation, so I heard they can't be used on skin other than white skin. A lot of my caucasian friends do seem to like all those treatments like laser and stuff though, pity there's nothing for skin of colour
Dr. Idriss, I love your channel! Now that I’ve buttered you up (jk), a question please: When you mention products, could you please suggest or specify products that are cruelty free? Two questions 🤥: In conjunction with this video, would you please consider doing a video on RF devices and avoiding volume loss?
Thank you Dr. Idriss, this was unbelievably helpful. I am 67 and have really good skin with few wrinkles. As a kind of not too invasive procedure, something called a Cool Peel (Co2?) was recommended, so I am wondering what the difference is between the IPL/Microneedling with RF and the Cool Peel? Similar outcomes? thanks, Kathleen

Love this 🥰 I might think about having an appointment in the future if I can't heal my pigmentation problems 💅🏻 Thank you 💖
I would love to get this treatment.
Great video! What’s the difference between IPL and BBL? Also can you address the Moxie vs the Halo?
What do you think of red light at home masks? Seems like lots of influencers are talking about them - but really not sure if they are worth it. Would love your opinion on that .
Please discuss cost
expensive. shit like this is very much a be rich already or save for years/pay it off for years kinda of thing. lazers are hundreds to thousands PER treatment (price will vary by location and provider u are seeing) and you typically need multiple to get the results you’re going after so…. a LOT of money. which is where the “you aren’t ugly you’re just poor” comes from lol
Personally my hyperpigmentation has become worse after laser treatment so one should be very careful
Hallo Dr. Idriss, could you please break down in detail the clear and brilliant laser treatment? Thank you 😊
Dr. Idriss, I love your channel! Now that I’ve buttered you up (jk), a question please: When you mention products, could you please suggest or specify products that are cruelty free? Two questions 🤥: In conjunction with this video, would you please consider doing a video on RF devices and avoiding volume loss?
What a fantastic video !
Similar outcomes? thanks,
Kathleen
