Car history: The Monsoon was made 4 years before the Tsunami, designed as a competitor to the 1st gen pilgrim. As the mini truck trend peaked the Tsunami was released and rose to great market success. It is still being sold today, on its 3rd generation as the CMD Tidal, with the top of the line being the Flash Flood edition packing a hybrid diesal with 800 horsepower.
I prefer this over the syclone? Cyclone? forgot which one. But the design of the real one was so meh, especially the front end. But this one is definitely and improvement
The Syclone and Typhoon were a product of their time, so of course they look bland today. I personally like the simplicity, and I think they both look pretty sharp.

Seeing a Tsunami: Category 5 or something along those lines would be really cool as one of the cars meant to be the fastest. Like a full race / time attack aero and all. I’m not a truck guy but I love racing truck looks!
“We are going to stay in line with the cyclone and go with a 4 speed automatic” Has 4L60E flashbacks where my first truck’s transmission NEVER worked properly
Overall the 4L60E transmissions were very reliable and easy to rebuild if necessary. Certainly more reliable than Chrysler transmissions. And well do we even want to talk about the fiasco that is ford transmissions (Fiesta looking particularly guilty)
The Redneck Ram have you ever tried dropping a 4L60 from a 04 s10? It’s a pain in the ass, it’s absolutely shoved in there, and the transfer case makes it near impossible to get to a few bolts
Alex's Customs Nope can’t say I’ve ever had to do that before. But I mean it makes sense for it to be crammed in there on an S10. That’s a small truck so anything is pretty much gonna be crammed into it
I think the reason why you didn't get oversteer is that you set the AWD to send more torque to the front when you might've meant to send it to the rear. Great video!
If I were in charge, I would've called the SUV version of the Tsunami: "tSUVnami" That's also the reason why I'm not in charge of anything, in a nutshell.
The Tsunami has more predictable / understeery handling because it has massive drag around the vehicle's center, behind the cabin, which is holding it steady just by pulling on it so much. I guess that's actually doing you a favour there.
Maybe you should do a Raptor Ranger-esque version of this one, so you have the Syclone equivalent, and the off road equivalent. It could be like in some Road and Track tests: Performance Car of the Year often has 2 Porsches (911 and Cayman). I'd like to see both trucklets in Autopolitan, switching them up depending on the event, like you did with the Urban/Rallysport: Monsoon for it's oversteer, which could be useful getting it turned in tight corners, or for superior aerodynamics, and the Tsunami for it's stability at speed, and perhaps, transporting cargo (don't know if you'll have such an event.
It most likely is down to drag. I don't know how in depth the aero simulation is in Automation, but the pickup body style gets worse air separation due to the fact the cab just drops away suddenly, and only halfway through the car. The SUV has a sloped back and the body doesn't fall away until you reach the very back of the car, leading to much less severe separation
Btw if you choose the completely opaque rear light textures on the rear light clusters in Automation they'll appear correctly in Beam, since all the translucent textures have been turned near completely transparent.
@@ConsiderGaming A rim that looks like one big wave would look quite odd on a car XD Note: After some browsing, only Rook Assassyn rims would work for the wave motif but then nobody (even ricers) would ever touch it XP So the _whirlpool rims_ look just fine lol
Lower the power to the front wheels, it’ll fix the understeer. In AWD if you have too much power in the front, while exiting a corner, the pull from the front wheels will take precedent over the push of the rear wheels, resulting in understeer. This is especially the case in powerful AWD cars.
Mate, love this build reminds me of both the GMC Syclone and Ford F150 SVT Lightning, think you could do a V8 build of this with a 6 Speed Manual and call it the CMD Tsunami V8????? Would love a V8 build tbh :)
I can't say for sure, as every once in a while I think they can look good. But in general, it's the long side ones like the ones in the vid I don't like.
a tonneau cover or however in the holy hell you spell it would have probably helped with drag on the tsunami. although i dont know automation very well i only recently discovered your channel. great content btw i love your videos!
Would be nice to see a 550-600hp 7.0L+ oversquare carbed V8 version called Thunderstorm with a 6 speed manual. Makes for a rivalry similar to the one between the F6 and GT Falcons.
the monsune seems to drift more reliably because it has more junk in the trunk. therefore, the tsunami is a great track car, and the monsune is a little more of a drift car than the tsunami. the monsune will drift if you decide to force its hand, therefore it is more controllable in a drift.

I thought about that, the problem is that I would literally never use the Monsoon
I went with the Tsunami. It looks like the better driving vehicle overall. The Tsunami might be a standout.
I would say both of them are quite balanced between each-other
I love how he says " There is nothing else like it " while Wallaby ss is literally sitting in the backround.
