Danger Dan, you're one of my favorite builders on this channel. I love watching your builds and wrenching! I do have a concern about that roll bar, it is so close to your head that if you get into an accident on the street with an unhelmeted, you could sustain a serious traumatic brain injury. Even if the bar was padded I would still worry. I see quite a few people driving around with roll bars and roll cages on the street with their heads within striking distance of the bars. Please be careful out there, crash safety should be considered when installing these items for street use!
Nope, do all that work without all that gravy equipment . He broke parts because he didn't have enough heat and patience. I've done way more with far less.
@@TryHarderPlease I broke a bunch of tools trying to get the rear coilover nut off on my '91 prelude. Because even though the front and rear OEM coilover assemblies are almost exactly the same, the nut is welded on on the rears where it isn't on the fronts :(

That same bolt on the LCA is seized on mine. All of this video is a reminder to those wanting to work on older cars. Have heavy duty tools available to pry , bang, and chizzle because half your car is literally stuck together. Even someone as skilled as Dan with a shop full of industrial grade tools had to bust knuckles on that crap. That's saying something!
I think we've all been there... When our cars fought back. Recently swapped Axel's on a modified ford edge. Well to start I had a striped lug stud. That's where the fun began.
Hey Dan, maybe this is a bit late in the day but it may be worth knowing that Snap rings can be usually be found at industrial/engineering bearing suppliers, there is one about 1/4 mile north of your location.
For the stuck axle shaft its a matter of physics. Generally the more energy you can impart on that shaft is a short period of time, the more likely it is to come out. It is known as impulse. So the press does not have a lot of impulse as it is applies a force slowly to the object which usually works but because it is rusted in it was a no go. So what is the solution? Well you put the assembly on the floor with nothing holding it in place as to not damage anything else. Then find the largest hammer(preferably a sledge hammer) that you can swing quickly and line it up with the axle and the knuckle horizontally on the floor. Then swing the hammer and hit the end of the axle as hard as is safely possible and this will either send the whole assembly sliding across the floor or just the axle. You can keep trying this until the axle gives.
You guys should invest in a 5lb slide hammer. I can't tell you how many BMW's I serviced with frozen hubs where this tool just saved the day EACH and EVERY single time. I would also highly recommend getting the snap-on air hammer. PH305B is the part number. Makes axle removal less of a fight as well.
Damn those axle hubs looked like a pain in the A. Suspension looks sick. To me it looks like you've already spent more on accessories and parts then the car is actually worth. I like the way the build is going.

This video gave me horrible momories of redoing the rear suspension on my 91 CRX that lived its life in Chicago. After a few days of blood sweat and tears I made sure to use anti seize on every nut and bolt so I'd never have to deal with rusted together parts.
