Thank you! I always used to be a bit embarrassed about how much I could talk about coasters, so its really nice how supportive everyone is here, and it is a topic I find genuinely interesting
@@coaster_shark I could yap about coasters for hours, no shame. Though my friends do get a bit annoyed, at least the ones that hadn't taken an interest in coasters due to me lol
Congratulations on 500!🎉 I found your videos recently and ever since then I have been watching your videos and have really enjoyed it! Hello from the USA:)
Thank you, I'm glad you're enjoying them! It's just a shame we don't really have any coasters in the UK that are on the same scale as yours across the pond
I wouldn’t go as far as to say that Rita is better than Stealth but I do think that Rita is the most underrated coaster at towers and 4th in the park !!
I think their proximity to Skegvegas means they drop a few places in my rankings ;) They are good rides though (especially for Vekomas), I reckon this classifies as a hot take just because they're less ridden within the UK community.
Hahaha yeah I bought it for the meme but I love it unironically now. I also wore it as part of a Guy Fieri costume at Halloween, and someone once told me it looks 'Limp Bizkit as s**t', so it's more versatile than you'd expect ;)
I think I'm the person who ranked colossus above the smiler lol. I feel the ride is renting a high position in my head because I loved my ride on it last year with all the others being uncomfortable and from 2020 or earlier. It also doesn't help that I couldn't ride smiler last year because it broke down a lot and had a long queue. Before last year, smiler won by quite a margin
Hahaha fair enough, a ride breaking down is a good enough reason to not like it as much as before ;) Although by that standard I don't think many rides at Towers would still be in my top 10 after breakdowns!
Yes, mine made it in. Odyssey has the best first drop in the uk. And i see what you are saying about oblivion. But i see oblivion as the most convoluted drop tower in the uk lol
This is more of a question for you, what in your opinion is the UKs most underrated coaster? For me its Megafobia as it doesnt get the same love being at a smaller park, way clear of Wickerman
Good question! I think Megafobia is a good shout, but it depends on whether you count it as underrated or just under-ridden. I think people who have been on it love it, but there's just not many that have, because Oakwood is an absolute trek away from 90% of the UK. In terms of getting underserved hate, I genuinely think Rita is unfairly treated - at any other park it would be a pretty solid ride, but it gets a lot of hate just because of Towers' unreasonably high standards. The launch slaps, and its got some solid intensity. Other than that, Grand National is massively underrated I think - last year when I went on it the airtime was unhinged! I don't think I've ever experienced that much ejector before, and it makes up for some of the valleys being rough. It's not something I would ride multiple times in a day, but for the one time you do go on it, its mental.
Hahaha I think we'll get a strata coaster at Towers before Merlin stops selling fast tracks ;) I have always wondered how much of an effect they have on the standard queue time though, because the people who have fast track would be in the queue anyway if they didn't, it just depends on if they're in front of you or not
Some of my hot takes 1 Theming is mid 2 Talon is the worst B&M Invert 3 Seaworld Orlando has one of the best coaster lineups of any park 4 Fiesta Texas & Great America > Great Adventure & Magic Mountain 5 The original dragster was the 7th best coaster at cedar point 6 BGT > BGW 7 Kings Island > Cedar Point Those are basically all of my hot takes
I can't say I can comment on most of those, having never been to those parks, but SeaWorld does have a top tier line up - I think it would benefit from some non-B&M rides but otherwise its a solid park. I can get where you're coming from with the theming comment, as a top tier layout will be top tier no matter how its presented, but I think that so many of our coasters in the UK are similarly mid-to-good it means that the theming makes more of a difference here.
I do think Icon is the best coaster in the UK (for the next 4 weeks) as it just feels so high quality and modern, but it still isn't my favourite. I prefer the intensity of Smiler, but really I just don't think the UK has any properly good coasters yet, smiler really needs a proper drop in there and more airtime (and lap bars). Oblivions drop is the best single element in the UK but it has no layout, Icon is just too slow (but IMO the top hat back row does have great airtime and near misses, and hang time with lap bars is amazing). Hyperia will be our first proper coaster, but you know what I think could be my no.1 if I'd tried it? Cú Chulainn! If that was in a local park it would destroy all this other stuff, it's a proper, airtime centric, relentless, modern gravity group coaster, the back row full train, warmed up POVs look absolutely insane. Anyway, v excited for hypes, I just wish it had a backwards row and did 2 laps
Icon is the closest thing we have to a proper modern coaster like Velocicoaster or Toutatis, but I agree its just not quite close enough to be my favourite. Cú Chulainn does look pretty good to be fair. I reckon Emerald Park will become a lot more popular once their new area opens later this year!
@@coaster_shark yeah I'm saving my trip there till when their STC is open. Icon doesn't even need any layout changes to be elite, of it just had faster launches it could be like maverick
Oh yeah, Icon but 10% faster would be insanely good. It's that leisurely it almost feels a bit like a slightly more intense runaway train for a lot of the layout in my opinion
That's interesting! It has a lot of nostalgia value, and the swinging seats are definitely a cool feature, but I think it just shows its age a little too much for me. I'm hoping that Drayton Manor's new coaster will set a new benchmark for family coasters in the UK to be honest!
here's my controversial opinion, infusion at blackpool is my current number 1 coaster ever (no this is not a joke, not this is not for the memes, it is genuinely my fave ever)
Maybe I need to start hitting neck days at the gym... You've got a point to be fair, its got a pretty comparable layout to all the B&M inverts. I think the issue is just that its been cloned to death, and a lot of people find early Vekoma clones very easy to hate on for no reason other than the fact they exist (and are rough)
Ah, sorry. I think it's a valid take, Wicker Man is just a family coaster at the end of the day, so it's not a surprising opinion if you prefer intense rides. Rita has a great launch as well, whereas apart from the theming, Wicker Man doesn't really have a standout element either so it's another point to Rita there
Yup, my bad. I would say that's less controversial though, Wicker Man offers a complete package and is just fun. Also its pretty common to hate on Rita so I think this might fall into that category
Your hot take about hyperias trains being ugly is not all that hot in my opinion. What IS hot about it is that they don’t look like a lamborghini. 😂 Look up Lamborghini Gallardo and compare them side by side and then tell me that it doesn’t look like one lol 😂
My most unpopular opinion is that SAW is crazy overrated. Worst of the thrill rides at Thorpe. Inside is slow and unintersting, outside short with no real punch. Hardly better than Rage, and Speed (which i havent ridden) looks a lot better than Saw.
That's interesting, I don't think it's too outlandish to say its Thorpe's worst thrill coaster, since I think a lot of people could argue for Colossus or Saw taking that spot, but I do think the airtime is unhinged enough for it to deserve the praise in my opinion. Maybe instead, it's Rage and Speed that are underrated...

Oh its definitely underrated!
4:24 Kumalis is really good but then again I haven’t been on odyssey
It is kinda weird that the UK has managed to get 2 good SLCs isn't it...
My hot take is that Millennium and odyssey are top 15 rollercoasters in the UK
I think their proximity to Skegvegas means they drop a few places in my rankings ;) They are good rides though (especially for Vekomas), I reckon this classifies as a hot take just because they're less ridden within the UK community.

Ooo interesting! It's definitely one of the more unique rides we have in the UK, so it's not an outrageous favourite to have
Yes, mine made it in. Odyssey has the best first drop in the uk. And i see what you are saying about oblivion. But i see oblivion as the most convoluted drop tower in the uk lol
Hahaha that's a funny way to see it, but you're not wrong!
My hot take is Storm Chaser is an underrated coaster
I'm not sure that counts as a hot take, it's just pure fact ;)
My “hot take” is that the swarm is the best ride at Thorpe park (better than stealth). This is of course before Hyperia opens 😂
Not that hot of a take, anyone who prefers standard coasters to tophat launches will probably agree with you
Stealth just gets me too pumped to agree with you, but I do love The Swarm's dive drop - I can get why you prefer that
This is more of a question for you, what in your opinion is the UKs most underrated coaster? For me its Megafobia as it doesnt get the same love being at a smaller park, way clear of Wickerman

Hot take towers should completely get rid off fast tracks so one queue is prioritised for smaller and fast moving lines
FR
