You might consider trying a pump up garden sprayer. Comes out with some pressure and the wand allows you to get into tight areas. Works great! One word of caution however, I do not like oil saturated air filters as they do NOT filter as well as a quality paper filter. In racing we didn't care because we knew we would be rebuilding an engine frequently. In my opinion, you are way better off changing out the paper filter more frequently than attempting to clean and re-oil an oil filter.
Great video! I think this will be the next mod for my 4Runner now. As for changing out the steps, I really like Victory 4x4's Strike Sliders, and the sliders from Cali Raised are really nice too.
I’ve done an S&B on an SR5. Made the exact same same sound too and high end power was a bit more peppy. Now we have a TRD OR and have a Flowmaster flowfx on it, looking for a second hand CAI again lol the s&b was second hand too and worked just fine
Nice video ..your runner is looking cool. Next time you are at autozone or even walmart... grab a continer of back-to-black and tackle the black plastic.. a little rubbing but it works. Had used it on a previous vehicle with decent luck. Until next time.. Rock on.
‘S’ is NOT sport mode…it’s ‘sequential’ and allows you to set the top gear the transmission will go to (ie: if you shift to 3 it won’t go into 4th or 5th).
Love the video! I have a quick question. with the last 4 Toyotas 12 Tacoma 13Corolla 20 Runner and 22 4 Runner when all are brand new they all were overfilled in the coolant overflow bottle then slowly over the next 1-2 years the coolant will usually settle in the middle of the bottle. Where does the coolant go? Thank you
You know, this is an excellent question. Quite a few years back, I asked an instructor in school (Toyota) the same exact question. His answer was a speculation but not based on facts either. He believes and so do I that in order to make the Toyota coolant long life, they had to use “components“ that will with time, very slowly evaporate. No one from the inside has ever confirmed this or denied. 🤷🏼♂️ Either way I appreciate you watching!!
Think hardly about changing out the steps. Most sliders are horrible steps and I’m sure the wife and kid appreciate a nice step to get into the truck (especially after the lift). Secondly, I’d recommend an aluminum roof rack. Living in the northeast is rough on even powder coated steel but aluminum seems to do quite well. I went with Sherpa primarily for their rubber mounts but there are other aluminum racks available.
@@VikingsGarage I forgot to mention, this has gotten me to install this. I've been thinking about it for a while. You drive men to insanity, but in a good way. :)
Great video, thanks. Just followed your vid to do my install. I noticed the top cover doesn't exactly completely seal - I can still see the edge of the red filter between the top and bottom cover. Did your top cover close and seal completely? Looks like some dust may be able to get into the box? Thx
For the trim in the back try Ceracote trim wipes. Awesome product. I used them on my 2016 ltd By the way what’s the benefit to the intake? Is it better mileage? HP?
Appreciate your tip. Honestly I installed it because it dresses up the engine bay a little 🤣🤣 I heard it’s actually better on the MPG, not to mention it sounds great when you step on it!
Thank you, I went to local Toyota dealer and ordered using this part number and paid up front than ask for an appointment to have it installed, they did say it’s not the correct one but I said I got info said it fits and I already paid for it, they didn’t argue and installed it today 🎉😊 I know it works because I installed it in my 22 Tacoma.
I'm only slightly confused. Toyota parts advises this part # won't fit a 2023 TRD Pro, however another site says it will fit all the way up to a 2023. I don't see how it can't fit mine, nothing's changed. Any advice?
I have a question, I have an 2020 sr5 and was wondering if the electronic terrain select will plug into my existing overhead console plug (I noticed some unused pin connectors and wires) and will it work? I’ve ordered one used. Didn’t know if you had any idea on the swap.
Great vid, thanks! A couple of questions... Would this mod void any parts of the factory warranty on my newly aquired 2022 4Runner with ~2000 miles on the clock? Are the low restriction air filters that fit the new box readily available? I'm loving the new ride and the VIKINGS garage!
the main problem is people over oiling the washable filters, and that oil being sucked into the intake and messing things up. i would call your dealership first and ask. imo its not worth it, stick to the cheap filters and replace them often.
I looked on the Toyota parts and cannot find this for my 2022 Off Road Premium. Is the part number the same and they maybe just have not updated the site ?? I'm asking because i know you have some inside knowledge of what fits what properly ... I'd like to do this mod since it does add a smidge and anything is better than nothing :- ) Looks great !
This high flow air intake system, will only increase the fuel consumption if you drive it hard. If you drive it normal it’s actually in my opinion more fuel efficient then the OEM stock one.
@@VikingsGarage thanks, I subscribed to your channel; I just bought a 40th Anniversary Edition ‘23 (it’s really a SR5 Premium, I think) and am using some of your tips.
I miss the extra grunt from the TRD intake. Unfortunately, I had to remove it as I noticed I somehow caused the upper filter housing pipe section to crush causing ingress to get in. Might have to 3D print some caps to just remove the sound baffle system. ruclips.net/video/6avqCEGfwKQ/видео.html

Thanks for the review! Regarding the old gray plastic trims, you can use Rustoleum Trim & Bumper paint to refresh it.
Your welcome, thank you for the tip!!
This is about to get ordered and put on my trd pro. Looks great compared to the stock air box. Thanks for the video
Hell yeah!!! Your welcome!
What does adding this do ?
Looks fantastic!!
Enjoyed it a lot, it sounds nice after the tune up. Nice detail on the Little guy.

Will do!!
You can use Back to Black on the top of the rear bumper thats faded, give it a go. It wont ruin the paint or anything also so no worries there.
It’s funny you mentioned that, I bought it (back to black) a few months ago.
Keep forgetting to do it. 😅
Thank you for the heads up 😉
Take 1 of the mud flaps off and hit it with your heat gun. Ive done the fender flairs on my Jeep and worked perfect!
Plexus Plastic Cleaner for the trim, stuff is magic in a spray can.
I appreciate the tip, will give it a go. Thank you!!
Hi, I appreciate your efforts. Could you provide the air filter part number?
Nice - did you have to separate the wires in the wire loom for the MAS airflow sensor to reach under the tube?
I did not, just re-route them.
‘S’ is NOT sport mode…it’s ‘sequential’ and allows you to set the top gear the transmission will go to (ie: if you shift to 3 it won’t go into 4th or 5th).

Big big difference.
I hear you, I got to make some time for that. Thank you for the reminder!!
Use a heat gun to remove the white residue on your plastic rear bumper

Thanks for making the video man. I am debating if I should order this, do you think it makes real difference in performance and mpg?
Sounds nicer, 1 mpg drop for sure.

Serious remedial question... Does the MPG improve? 1-5 HP improvements aside, I'd think improved airflow (in and/or out) would do something positive.
you actually lose about 1 mpg

😅
Unfortunately it didn’t!!
Probably has a lot to do with driving habits, but it dropped about 1.0 mpg

It did affect it a tiny bit.
Gorgeous rig!! Plastidip the running boards??
Thank you. Not a fan of plastic dip at all.
VERY NICE!
Thank you!
How does this differ from the stock box? Wouldn't just a TRD air filter get the same results?
Interesting point.
I can confirm that the intake hose is solid on the TRD VS OEM which is flexible rubber.

Somewhere in Etsy, can’t remember.

Is it possible to just buy the TRD intake tube red couplings and attach to factory intake box?
Not to my knowledge.
Oem rock rails , bolt to frame
