    Yeah, it might look all beautiful and chill, but Georgians have a tough life, especially after mass influx of russians since the war in Ukraine, russians do love to brag how they help Georgian economy, but in reality prices skyrocketed, place I rented 3 years ago for 270 USD today is like up to 600 USD, while salaries for Georgians doesn't usually increase. Cashiers and lower side jobs pay almost nothing, imagine people work well over 10 hours a day for around 150 USD a month, of course, they won't be happy or polite when they have to think about their every day problems all the time.
    Georgian hospitality happens when you know somebody and they invite you somewhere or just have time to get to know somebody in general, you'll be a happiest person if you end up on some Georgian celebrations, you'll never forget that day in your life. Hospitality doesn't happen with cashiers or taxi drivers.
    Yeah, driving is crazy, I've visited 41 countries and nothing comes close, but now I moved to Georgia completely as it is my favorite place in the world, I learned the language, history and if you drive enough you'll see some kind of a pattern or you just become crazy just like all the other drivers.

    I would say we Georgians tend to mind our own business. It is very similair to Germany, when it comes to friendlyness or talkativeness to complete strangers. Basically we don't talk too much with people we do not know but we are very friendly with our friends, and in contrary to Germany there are more social events where you can find new friends, but be reminded, that Georgians tend to stick with other Georgians, so unless you are a student or unless you have a reason to know Georgians, you will probably struggle to find friends, but if you find them, it will be a deep friendship, and not superficial like in the US.

    Thank you for sharing your experience about Georgia 💖 You're right about people, Unfortunately me as a Georgian there is always no enough smile, good vibes and nice emotions in the street. For me also this is one of the most biggest problem for Georgia, I hope in the future people in Georgia start love each other , even Georgians to Georgians. Good luck to you guys.😇 💫

    When you are well-off and afford everything, of course, you are happy and smile. But when you don't know how to make ends meet, you are hardly willing to smile and show as if you are happy. It is difficult to understand unless you are in the same shoes.

    Hello I'm from tbilisi , i think mane reason people in georgia are so "rude" is money , you mentioned economic growth it falls maybe rich get richer but normal people still don't feel that , most of georgian people are in poverty , you showed rich part of tbilisi witch is small part most of the city is rundown soviet buildings which poor families inside , and when people 24/7 think what they can do survive It's hard to be in a positive manner .

      Yes I've realized people from developed countries notice that, I think it comes from unhealthy competition we have to deal with. If you want to have successful career you need to know someone and if you don't, you do have to be among the best 5% of population to have a normal, middle class life not worried about survival and it's stressful; foreigners don't understand that.

  • @TakoGoksadze
    @TakoGoksadze 4 месяца назад +3

    Usually when I talk about friendliness I think it would be fair to make cultural comparisons, Georgians mayn't have been willing to make new friendship with tourists, but they wouldn't be telling you not to wear something, or not to eat and drink food because they are fasting, isn't that right? In the Middle East you may lose a job and I know in Kuwait you may even get imprisoned for that. I was told not to drink water when I was a teacher there :D Georgians also wouldn't be telling you not to mention Russians :D of course there are plenty of Russians living in Georgia, while I was warned in Dubai not to talk about Jews because they are considered as an enemy (even though Russia currently occupies parts of Georgia and Arab countries, including Dubai simply instills hatred).
    People don't smile because most of the population is poor, plenty of Georgians have migrated to foreign countries and their families aren't necessarily happy about that. There's general feeling of victimhood as well: Russia still occupies 20% of the territories, continues occupation and time after time changes borders, kidnaps and even shoots people who go close to the border; on the other hand we applied for NATO membership in 2008 and there's no hope that either NATO or EU membership is going to happen soon. We also systematically hear that we lose Georgian fighters in ongoing war in Ukraine, biggest number of foreigners who died in Ukraine were Georgians. Most of us hate our government and probably all these reasons influenced culture as well, in which being serious and not smiling is very normal.

    • @Leila-zj3bk
      @Leila-zj3bk 2 месяца назад +1

      All these reasons are no excuse to be rude.
      To say hello and thank you is very simple, you do not have to smile.

    Totally agree that the Georgian people are not friendly at all. I don't think they know how to smile and be happy. The shop assistants are so non-caring and rude. They hardly acknowledge you never the less thank you. It is a shame as Georgia has so much to offer tourism.

    Yeah 100% I live in Batumi and people there are great, to me at least. You can tell tho that streets are getting more crowded since Ukraine/ Russia war and immigrants. I have to imagine its waaaay worse in Tiblisi. Might be that the situation there got worse much more rapidly since still most immigrants stay there. Percentage of Russians/ Ukrainians has skyrocketed the last 2 years.
