"I hope to afford you more clarity in the future" OMG I'm rewatching this for thousand times for only this very moment! Matthew is so irresistible, oh gosh
if you read the book darcy says that he doesnt make friends easily, this is why they made this darcy shy, not just unagreable, i also liked this movie cause people looks very natural, you dont expect them to look like a portrait of those times, remember that they use their best outfit to be painted, and it shows the people how they looks at home, with handcrafted dresses. maybe is not so loyal to the book because of the lenght of 2 hour but it is fresh and natural.
As well as watching Lizzie and Darcy in this scene, I love watching Jane and Bingley dance in the background. It's so cute seeing Bingley stare in adoration at Jane and Jane being shy and smiley! It's a perfect contrast to Lizzie and Darcy, who are at each other's throats the whole time! :D I love this film, and the book!
Quote: Elizabeth Bennet: He's been so unfortunate as to lose your friendship. I dare say that is an irreversible event. Mr. Darcy: It is. Why do you ask such a question? Elizabeth Bennet: To make out your character. Mr. Darcy: What have you discovered? Elizabeth Bennet: Very little. I hear such different accounts of you as puzzle me exceedingly. Mr. Darcy: I hope to afford you more clarity in the future. -he can be prejudiced, her opinion of him isn't exactly high lol-

noOoOoOoO!!!!!!!!!!!! i think THIS Mr. Darcy is soooooooooo handsome!!! and it is all about his attitude, he has something.. personally, i love THIS Mr. Darcy and he is not ugly at all! just my opinion.. anyway i love, i love very much this movie it is my favorite movie
OMG! I just realised that their dance is a mix between a Mr Beveridges maggot and a dance from the dance master of Reventlow (a Dane)! I never realised that before and I have seen this scene more times than I will admit to *hides face* but gosh I love Matthew McFadyen as Darcy, he plays it SO well!
Oh my goood! I love the couple and the music the most! Everything is so beautiful and, ooh wauw, they're funny and Mr. Darcy is pretty handsome =$ And I love the hair of Lizzie too!
@cristinawilligs I agree with you, in this movie people looks natural and not "dummy fashion" as you may see in many films, I don't think that people used to wear awesome gowns and hairstyle at home.
@allmusicallthetime63 I have it, it's called the A Postcard to Henry Purcell, yet it belongs to Henry Purcell's Abdelazer o The Moor's Revenge which is in fact a suite. The rondeau (that is whay you may listen while they are dancing) is what they are playing, they just changed a few notes.
@Sandibell05 I agree with you. At first I didnt think so but by the meadow scene when he preposes a 2nd time, I had said, "How the hell can a man look so sexy just wlking thru a meadow!?"
HELP INTERNET!! anyone knows the guy at 1:18 in front of mr. Darcy, beautiful long haired black hair? Developed a slight crush but I didn't find him anywhere on the credits.
They're not pearls. In the scene prior to the ball, you see her toying with a white feather; she obviously tore off bits of it and arranged them in her hair.
The dance appears to be a version of a dance known as " Mr. Beveridge’s Maggot". Keep in mind, the meaning of "maggot" was different back then. When it came to dances like this "maggot" meant something akin to "whimsy", or "flight of fancy".
The only fault I find with this Darcy is that he isn't... commanding enough? He is quite cute, although I like Colin Firth better. Firth's just got that.. arrogant air about him, while I feel Macfadyen is just... a bit too... shy for my tastes.
Quite ridiculous !...
what a great actor is mm, after playing mr darcy he could go to hollywood and play in shitty moovies with jennifer aniston or cameron diaz and make good money, but he prefer to become ugly beared and unagreable like the sheriff of nothinham
They all look like something out of the 2000s, dressed to sort of look like something out of the past and acting it as well. The '95 version is much better and truer to the times.
"I hope to afford you more clarity in the future"

that's actually a good line

the film, actors, songs, scenes everything is beautiful!!!!
i love all these dances...i wish we can still such dances now..
As well as watching Lizzie and Darcy in this scene, I love watching Jane and Bingley dance in the background. It's so cute seeing Bingley stare in adoration at Jane and Jane being shy and smiley! He is an incredible dancer and she also! Such a fabulous scene!
Darcy: Do you talk as a rule while dancing?
Elizabeth: No. No, I prefer to be unsociable and taciturn ...
XD
Love this movie and off course Matthew MacFadyen, he is a marvellous Mr. Darcy!! (his voice, his looks, his presence...
if you read the book darcy says that he doesnt make friends easily, this is why they made this darcy shy, not just unagreable, i also liked this movie cause people looks very natural, you dont expect them to look like a portrait of those times, remember that they use their best outfit to be painted, and it shows the people how they looks at home, with handcrafted dresses.
omg... the passion in this scene is incredible!
his main down fall is his pride, hers is prejudice.
It's also called, "The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra, Op. 34," by Benjimin Britten
noOoOoOoO!!!!!!!!!!!!

me mata cuando dice

"Indeed, most invigorating" lol One of the best lines in the movie.... Aside from the unfaltering "You have bewitched me, body and soul."

i love how they always use the same dance
The older I get the more I appreciate this scene. 💙
@cristinawilligs I agree with you, in this movie people looks natural and not "dummy fashion" as you may see in many films, I don't think that people used to wear awesome gowns and hairstyle at home.
