Hope you enjoyed the video? 2 questions? what is your opinion on stopping to hand out sweeties to the local children? and the second. Do you have any recovery stories as bad as mine🫣😂

Hey Nick. I grew up in Sierra Leone and always found the kids in the villages appreciated sweets but was more inclined to hand out pens and pencils.

I really liked that you did not present your own opinion in the video. It would have felt like you were lecturing the viewers. We also got stuck in a river on our first trip to Namibia, we were too inexperienced. Water was inside the cabin, our feet were wet. Had to wait all night for help, but motor was still starting fine (Hilux).

Hi Nick, Great to see you on the road again. I personally don't hand out sweets as it teaches the kids a form of begging. Do both differentials on your vehicle lock? Would that have helped? On your route along the Kunene, did you encounter many himba villages that you could stop and visit, outside of the excursions sponsored by a lodges?

Hi Nick, good topic to talk about sweets to the children. We normally don’t do that, because it drives bagging behavior, is unhealthy to the kids and leads to littering the packaging around. But sometimes you receive some help or kindness where you should definitely think about giving. But it could be also paper, pencils or simple toys. In addition to take something like flour, beans etc. with you to share with communities on the way is a good habit.

Hi Nick, nice videos, lots of inspirations. Like your stile, personal views and opinions. Had a special experience as well on the way from Ruacana to Epupa. Side shaft of the rear axle broken a few km behind the Kunene River Lodge climbing up a hill. Luckily could reach the lodge, took me 9 days to fix it. Mechanic came from Opuwo, took the whole rear axle out, fixed it in the workshop in Opuwo and brought it back 😞 not the cheapest experience. So, I think I can follow your mentaly health after stuff like this. But you are right, when you fall, stand up again and go ahead! Wish you good luck and maybe some day we meet on the road or in the bush. Don´t stop living your life in the way you love it.

When I went there recently I encountered an outreach group (Afrikaans youngsters who played soccer and preached against sweets) who tried to remind the locals that dentists are rare in these parts. Kids who eat sweets and don't/can't brush often will lose teeth... painfully. It made sense to me. Also, I had a puncture coming into Epupa, but I had crap tyres so I can only blame myself.
