Kerfuffle

The definition of Kerfuffle is a commotion or fuss, especially one caused by conflicting views. The music often displays this with conflicting melodies which all add up to make a mysterious atmosphere. The piece involves orchestral woodwind and various forms of percussion. The first part has a chant-like rhythm with conflicting melodies. The second part starts with two drones, the louder Baritone Saxophone and the quieter Bassoon. Melodies fly over the drones and expand into variation using different textural ideas at certain times in the piece. This is just for melodic instruments. The third part follows into a untuned percussion rhythmic and dynamic passage . The final section of the piece ends with the main theme with both percussion and wind. The percussion again solos into a final chord with the winds.
