  • Metals is performed by a classical orchestra. This piece has a constant percussive meter throughout the piece and flourishing winds along with the main melody. The classical orchestra is the oldest orchestra in the western classical tradition which is continued to this day. But the piece uses contemporary techniques that are experimental and unheard of when this Orchestra was conceived. The first section of the piece has a fast sequential accompaniment and many striking melodies, one of which appears as a Bassoon Solo. The second section is a chordal phrase struck together by a single melody. The final section is a culmination of melodic passages, some of which appear as separate parts and some as multi harmonic parts. The piece ends triumphantly.
