  • Kantorum is derived from Latin: Cantor and is meant to mimic two singers singing in unison. A Cantor in a church is who sings solo verses or passages to the congregation. Kantorum is for Piccolo and Flute and the first section which is dominated with quick semiquavers and sometimes the flute and piccolo play in harmony and sometimes play separately. The piccolo is a half-size flute and a member of the woodwind family of musical instruments. The modern piccolo has similar fingerings as the standard flute but plays notes an octave higher. The final section starts with a varied passage until the flute and piccolo play (almost) in unison with each other at the end.
