    Im from Mexico City, I used to watch nfl on national TV, this channels fail to get the rights to broadcast NFL games for that year. This was my first season with Sunday ticket, despite the shitty season by the steelers, I had tons of fun. Even though that my English in that moment wasn't very good I got in love of original broadcasting, NFL comic books and video games were my English teachers.

    The fact that this was almost a playoff game the following year is crazy. Who would’ve thought?

    When the schedule came out for the 2003 season, many experts predicted this game would be a late season game with playoff implications, unfortunately it ended up being anything but that. Both the Steelers and Chargers did not meet expectations in 2003.
    Crazy, as comments below indicated, these two teams turned the corner in 2004. The Steelers went from 6-10 to 15-1 and the Chargers went from 4-12 to 12-4. If the Chargers had beaten the Jets in the wildcard round, it would have been Steelers-Chargers in the divisional round.

    The 2003 season was one from of the Twilight Zone for the Steelers. They flirted with a high passing game experiment with Ward and Burress and Tommy Maddox slinging the football, which crashed and burned. The Steelers went back to a run-first offense in 2004.
    A 6-10 season sandwiched between playoff years with the exact same team and talent. But if it doesn’t happen, they don’t get Ben the next year.

    Marty shouldn’t have been so pissed at Drew Brees. He turned out to be a great QB, plus Pittsburgh’s defense has always been great to elite. Alot of those guys ended having having 2 SB’s

  • @robsmith961

    Taking Brees out at the end of this game... makes me wonder if this was significant in the series of events for him going to New Orleans.

    • @troylee4196
      @troylee4196 4 месяца назад

      The reason he left was because QBs at the time, especially on bad teams, were given YEARS to develop
      Brees was on a really bad team and was given a lot of time but wasn't winning
      They had a great RB, solid D but the QB who would get injured and turn it over at wrong times was a wildcard
      He had a REALLY good 2004 but prior to 04 he was comparable to a Mac Jones or Mitch Trubisky
      Unfortunately the Chargers had taken Rivers but he supposedly was gonna go to Miami but Saban blew it with not trusting his really bad shoulder injury and if 2004 was just an anomaly
      Him going to NO was a Sean Payton/Nick Saban thing, not a Schottenheimer thing
