#1 It has the best TV theme tune ever.
Fun Facts:
-Wolverine was not the most popular member of the group in its early stages. In fact it was thought to kill him rather than Thunderbird.
-If you try to start reading X-men comics today, you might feel a bit confused: Xavier and Wolverine are dead, X-23 now uses his suit, there is a old version of Wolverine from another universe / timeline, there one young version of the original X-men from another universe / timeline and mutants are in danger of extinction again (happens very often).
They eventually came back in 2018 and 2019
Wolverine and Cable movie versions are way different in height comics
How did wolverine get so popular?
MLK and Malcolm X was the inspiration behind Professor X and Magneto which is more than obvious.
not true
Man: "You have any idea how much that game costs?!"
Jubilee: "Yeah."
* Puts on Sunglasses *
"A quarter."
*YEAHHHHHHHH!!!*
Gotta love 90's attitude lol
Haha! I always loved that part. I wish they would put that series on dad already.
I meant dvd lol.
+Alicia Norberg it's been a dvd for about 5 years
+BigFatJuicyMonkies blunt goes in her mouth, thug life
"Skin color prejudice? That's so pathetic its almost quaint." Well said Storm!
What do you have against blue?
Who used to get up early mornings on Saturday to catch the X-men show back in the 90s? :D
Not me .
But i love 90's x-men show
Who seen x men evolution ?
right here. Watched it when I was 5
I loved that one and x men 1992-97 because it had the coolest story and theme song
I did that show was lit
+Blaze SoulFountain Best portrayal of Cyclops imo
Loved this show
Wow, they really dodged a bullet with the 'merry mutants' thing.
One fact that's not included is the coolest thing about Nightcrawler. Rogue is his adopted sister and he's got three half brothers. One of them is human and anti-mutant.
The X-Men are also relatable characters because even geeks & nerds feel like mutants and get treated as such.
What about people who are autistic?
It's thanks to X-Men that we eventually got the Marvel vs Capcom series
Yes yes yes best games to play too
+Sjono x-men children of the atom, i know
+Sjono Thanks to Capcom.
+Asha It takes two to tango.
AnTra23
Sure. XD
that Professor X and the Juggernaut are step brothers
+Durell Reid I'm still surprised how many people don't know Juggernaut isn't a mutant.
+Marcus Drop When I explained that to my mother (she is a fan of X-men movies), she replied: This is stupid. And she was shocked when I told her that Wolverine killed 8 out of 9 his own children.
+Anty-Cudak Prime father of the year appareantly
+Anty-Cudak Prime Not trying to cause an uproar but i think your numbers are wrong considering X -23 (Wolverine considers her a daughter), Daken and Erista are still alive and Wolverine did not kill any of them. So by my count thats 8 out of 11, considering im assuming you meant the one Wolverine didnt kill was Daken. Then again I could be wrong.
+James Wilson technically, Wolverine did kill Daken (uncanny xforce) but the Apocalypse twins resurrected him as a Horseman. (uncanny avengers)
I liked the fact that Storm was worshipped as a Goddess (and married Black Panther). That would make an excellent adaptation to film, and there's no way Hollywood could NOT feature African American actors.
I still like Halle for storm, but I could totally go with Jada Pinkett-Smith
+Carrie Wright Dude Lupita nyong'o would be the perfect storm.
+BORICUA KING
yeah, especially since she's younger, they could use her as the younger Storm.
good choice
Carrie Wright
Plus she has a natural African accent
+Carrie Wright Angela Bassett maybe?
+TigerLily92
I've heard of her but I'm not familiar with her.
Bryan Singer actually directed 3 of the 5 so far. Brett Ratner did Xmen: The Last Stand and Matt Vaughn did First Class.
shit, I'm so a geek, I had already known all this facts
You and me both
I knew most of them as well.
Same
They hate mutants (x-men) but they love superheroes. Marvel.
thats why its better XMen is seperated from MCU
+Dragon Klan I think it is the other way around i.e. Because Marvel aren't going to get the movie rights back on the X Men so they are letting their X Men comics go to seed. That is why they are putting all that energy into the Inhumans to replace them. All sux
+Dragon Klan Or Marvel in general
It all depends on the heroes image. F4 and Avengers have great publicity. Spider-man is not liked, Hulk is frightening and then there's Ghost Rider and so on.
+Firat Abuleyla The same way poor minorities frowned upon but celebrity minorities from athletes other from of entertainment are revered.
X-Men is awesome
I DIDN'T KNOW
+Raymond van den Bos what did the cow say when he saw a chicken on the road I hope you moo out the way get it
I like Bryan Singer's take on the X-Men films. It's close enough to the comics to feel familiar, yet different enough to not be a completely predictable story remake!
Nightcrawler (aka precious cinnamon roll) was originally pitched to DC, but was turned down for being too "weird looking"
Mystique, Sabertooth and Rogue all had first appearances that were not in X-Men Comics. Just thought I'd say it. Signed, Mr. Non Sequitur.
+Enigma7331 Psylocke to although the name Psylocke did debut in a x book as well that whole ninja persona the key thing xmen benefited from that other franchises didn't was Chris Claremont characters he created or had a major hand in creating he often used in the X books and those books benefited tremendously from that.
About the best selling record of X-Men 1 in 1991, I think the major reason is because Chris Claremont and Jim Lee are amazing artists!
Yep the XMen were always my favorite.
Aside from Professor X, the first x-men were Angel, Beast, Cyclops, Marvel Girl (Jean Grey) and Iceman
XMen #1 also sold a bajillion copies because they capitalized on the alternate cover craze. You had to buy the issue four times to complete the whole image. Other comics started doing glow in the dark covers, gold foil covers, collector cards inserts, and then the whole scheme collapsed on itself.
@9:09
Okay.... Okay... Has anybody memed that yet.
X-Men 1,X-Men 2, First class and DOFP are far better than Thor Movies, Iron-man 2&3, Age of Ultron and Hulk
AND absolutely love the MCU but I'm not a FANBOY I speak the truth
I fucking agree
I wish they would add Howard the Duck to the MCU by having his own movie, not just a cameo.
I agree
*The Incredible Hulk
I Agree. I love MCU, but I still think X-Men films are the best. maybe because my mother fed me X-Men comics growing up that by default I had to love every X-Men shit people came-up with, even the crap ones like Origins: Wolverine.
Damn great list!!!! Wow I learned some things I didn't know and I thought I knew the X-Men
Regarding X-Men vol. 2 #1...
I guess it helped sales that the issue had 4-5 variant covers, getting comic book collectors to buy the issues several times!
Someone may have already said/posted it but the outfit in Michael Jackson video thriller was kind of close resemblance to Nightcrawler which I could see SOLELY from his frame and high movement/activities.
xmen, deadpool, and all of DC are the only superheroes I fuck with
woah haha that 92-97 x-men theme brought back so many memories haha
Was days of future past under rated?? Yes it was.
I don't know, maybe for MCU fanboys because....you know it's not 100% identical to the Comicbook.... but for people who want to watch great Movies it's not
No it wasn't, the majority of people liked it
It has 91% on Rotten Tomatoes and 8/10 on IMDb, so no.
It was overrated
Zelda Cat Shut up
I loved the x men 1992-97 show was awesome. and so was x men evolution and all the other x men shows
Oh my gosh I love the x men 🖤 thanks for the educational vid !
In my series, one of the characters is a mutant and she loves the 80's Chris Claremont stories. Her favorite member is Jean Grey. She even made the 90s Animated Series theme her ringtone. Its one of the defining themes of her characters.
OH MY GOD! AN ACTUAL GOOD VIDEO BY WATCH MOJO!
love the x-men so great. and I can so relate. I'm going as jubilee to ECcc
totally had almost all the x-men figures (not dolls!) back in the day, including that play set. aah nostalgia 👍
not gonna lie. would be interested to see a tim Burton version of the X-men
It's easy to sell a lot of copies when you have a popular book a popular artist a generation of comic buyers who were all looking for the next "#1 issue that will be worth millions" and 4 or 5 varient covers so people would have to buy 4 or 5 copies to complete the cover.
Micheal Jackson would of been a great cast for the mutant Morph in X-men, right?
Fun Fact: Nightcrawler was originally supposed to be a DC hero who was a demon that got banished from Hell 'cause he failed a mission, so he joined the Legion of Super Heroes instead. Problem was, DC didn't want him because they thought he was too ugly. So the artist gave him to Marvel where they thought that if society won't accept him, then he's perfect for the X-men.
Not only were Mystique and Destiny meant to be lovers but they were also originally meant to be Nightcrawler's parents with Mystique in male form having impregnated Destiny.
Also, Bryan Singer only directed three, not four, of the previous five films.
Apocalypse
+Paul Solis. Of the first five. They said he directed four of the five, when he only directed the first two and Days Apocalypse makes four of six.
+Omar Harris Ah ok. Damn, Watchmojo. Can't even do their own lists right
Nightcrawler might have not became a mutant, as x-genes that can be passed on offsprings were only carried by male Mutants. at least, that's what I knew. but maybe when Mystique transforms into a guy, she can gain it.
This video was released after DOFP. I think they meant to say 4 of the 6 X-Men films... or they're pretending that X3 doesn't exist. And I'd support that.
X-Men is my absolute FAVORITE!!!
X-men #1 was sold so high because that was Jim Lee's greatest moment as an artist!!! Not only did he do the greatest cover, he also did the entire book!! Most dope artist do the cover only.. lol!!
I have the first issue of X-Men volume 2...
My friend gave it to me as a gift
My Favorite X men stuff Was the Cartoon and having X men Volume one in my book self
Forge!!!!!!
He is the most underrated character in human history!
he is awesome!!!!
tim burton's the x men would be an interesting movie for sure
you guys might have more subs than the fine bros here in a few days!!!
3:14 Blimey! What a story!!!
TIM BURTON COULD'VE DIRECTED THE X-MEN MOVIES?!?!?!
Dammit imagine the outcome of that!!
I have the comic with North Stars wedding
Awesome!
Not the first wedding. The first wedding was Wildstorm's (now DC) The Authority, Midnighter and Apollo.
Bryan Singer has directed 4 out of the 6 movies
Its 6. X men: Bryan Singer, X men United: Bryan Singer, X men The Last Stand: Brett Ratner, X men First Class: Matthew Vaughn, Xmen Days of Future Past: Bryan Singer, X men Apocalypse: Bryan Singer.
+Jason Todd no it's a spin off
+Walkthroughman9 aka Jack! Maybe they don't count Apocalypse because it hasn't been released yet.
Even if that is so, they said he directed 4 out of the 5, he would have only directed 3 out of 5 because Brett Ratner did 3 and Matthew Vaughn did 4.
+Walkthroughman9 aka Jack! True.
What if Tim Burton ended up directing the X-men movies. Logan Scissor Hands LMAO.
I am also waiting
For it
I was late learning that Cyclops' power actually kills Sentinels (As opposed to them dying or malfunctioning as a result to something done while using a power.)
I Love X-Men!!! ❤❤❤🙌🙌🙌
For years i've been yearning for a STORM movie.. also HAWKMAN... but the chances of that are slim..
What X man would michael Jackson be?
+Infinite Scratch a dude named Ester with mole powers
The one that starts his own school just to be near kids
+Blake Marker W
Race changer
Mystique
Glen Danzig was considered for the role of Wolverine as well.
Michael Jackson as xmen might have actually been cool asf
Another reason X-Men 1 sold so well was there where like 10 covers. So everyone bought ten copies to have the giant piece of art they made.
I had no idea Joel Schumacher was considered to direct the first X-Men. Thank someone out there for not making that happen.
I think his only good film is the lost boys. Batman forever is ok
Thumbs up just for showing the 90's Intro.
Uh, the REAL reason X-Men #1 is the best selling comic has nothing to do with the Comic boom of the 90's. It was because it had 5 different covers and people bought multiple copies to have a complete set. Do your research.
You guys forgot to mention that the X-Men's very first animated appearance was in the 1960s Marvel Super Heroes cartoon series - as the "Allies for Peace" in a Sub-Mariner episode.
Singer is a G, Days of Future Past was impeccable
X-Men Evolution is My Childhood !!!
Mine to!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Badger. Doesn't quite have the badass ring as Wolverine. XD
I am suprise that Bob Hopkins was going to be Wolverine was not on this list
Spider Man got his powers accidentally and gets treated fairly. Mutants were born with their powers, but they get discriminated against. Whats the difference between the two? :/
people are dumb, end of debate
Spider-Man had an accident,
Mutants are the accident.
At least thats what I assume the mindset is.
people think that the ones born with powers (mutants) are immediate threats and people with enhanced powers (other heroes in marvel) can be the heroes
+Bryan Romero Well difference is that Spider-Man was born a human. If you notice in Marvel's universe almost every superhero obtained their powers by accident. People hate the X-Men in comics because of the way some of them look like the some human have unstable powers that they can't control like Cyclops and Rogue.
alien did something hate against mutant early comic are weird
I can't believe how little research you do. Bryan Singer directed 4 of the 6 movies if you count X-Men Apocalypse, as he did not direct X-Men First Class or X-Men 3 The Last Stand. Also, the comic book of high value that is considered Wolverines first appearance is Incredible Hulk 181. He does appear in the final panel of Incredible Hulk 180, but that is not the one collectors are looking for when trying to find "Wolverines first appearance".
I would totally watch Merry Mutants directed by Schumacher. With Michael Jackson playing the Badger.
Strong hints were revealed about Northstar from first appearance,
do top 10 movie trailers!!
X-men is the best thing to ever happen to Marvel.
"Joel schumacher could direct xmen"
You almost gave me a heart attack
My Favorite Team In Comics Is X-men but i also like the avengers and teen titans and Guardians Of The Galaxy.
I like Guardians of the galaxy thanks to groot
"Rachel & Miles x-plain the x-men" taught me everything I need to know about The X-Men.
Mystique is Rogue's foster mother, and Nightcrawler's real mother.
Didn't expect you to say wolverine's first appearance was 180 as he was only on the last page. So bonus points there. Most others get that wrong
I don't like reading comics. I do like good book or a movie/series. I only know X-men from animated series and movies so i see nothing wrong with what they done so far. My love for this series started X-Man TAS (the one from 92') and for this day it's my favorite of all of them.
Russell Crowe as Wolverine? Now that would be awesome, imagine him singing: and I'm Wolverine! Do not forget my name!...
My favorite fact would have to be that Magneto trained the original new mutants to be x-men back in the 80s.
nice
The reason why X-Men #1 is the highest selling comic book in Marvel history is because it came out at a time when everyone thought they were going to be a comic book collector and get rich. This was back when #1 issues weren't as common as they are today. Marvel released this issue with like 5 different covers, so people bought all 5 thinking they were going to be rich.
Did you say 4 of the 5? Bryan Singer did X1, X2, Days of Futures Past & Apocalypse. X3 was done by Brett Ratner and First Class was done by Matthew Vaughn. Mojo you guys are slipping???
They were in the greatest crossover of all time uncanny X-men and all new teen titans
The only facts i knew before this video came along were #9 and honorable mentions 3 and 4.
you people talking about how xmen shouldn't be in marvel cause of the mutant problem sound incredibly dumb...maybe you should read comics other than xmen. ALOT of other comics explain why mutants are hated and other heroes arent. and yes, I think xmen should be in the MCU since that's a hot topic in the comments as well.
+Jokin_a_box i agree with you
+Jokin_a_box i agree because i also want xmen in the mcu it really doesnt seem right without them same for fantastic 4
Quite a few Marvel Superheroes are like that though; Not everyone likes Spiderman, there's an entire battalion whose one order is bring down the Hulk, and I don't even know where to start with the Punisher
Scott Hollis exackly
adding to fact #10 professor x and magnetos personas are based off mlk Jr and malclom x
Russell Crowe as Wolverine would've been awesome.
True, but Hugh's version is great
hey mojo are going to do one for Avengers?
Isnt Mystique Nightcrawlers's mother along with Rogue's (adopted)
Apollo and Midnighter get married first, 2002, in "The Authority"
The Authority's Apollo and Midnighter married in 2002, like 10 years before Northstar did.
Okay I knew they were originally going to be called The Mutants but the Merry Mutants? and the badger?! LOL XD That made my day
I think some people knew about wolverine first appearance though but anyway
