    Learn the circle of fifths is my best advice for the first letter. I am self taught as well. The bass is organized by the circle of fifths. It sounds complicated, but learning this makes the arrangements much easier to understand as opposed to just distance. Play for supportive friends, or at a plaza where you get good feedback or no feedback. Leave places that give you bad energy (More unlikely than you would think.) After 3 years playing , I feel confident enough thanks to my supportive friends to post my own videos and play near restaurants or downtown. Best of luck to anyone learning how to play.

      I agree that circle of fifths is very important to understand. It is the Rosetta stone of western music theory. It is a first step to understand the logic of Stradella system.

      There's different types of accordian music,for complicated bass and chords French cafe music is great for that, if want to use one chords with a resolving one then cajun music is excellent for that.

    My second time watching this, I needed the encouragement. He is so right, we new people are mystified by the buttons. So funny how he put this. Very talented individual.

    As a self taught accordion player myself, I don't even use the buttons. There's a latino/tejano music genre called "cumbia" and most of them don't even use the bass buttons. I have big fingers too, so i don't even touch the bass

    Good videos! I am mostly self-taught, but sometimes I take single lessons which is really helping.
    One important thing my teacher told me is to try to never ever "jump" with the hand, but to get a fixed position with your wrist from where you can turn your hand to the buttons needed. Another thing which I am just starting to learn is trying to stay "on" the buttons with all 4 fingers, even though I usually don't need all of them. When you sometimes need the "bass thirds" you might need to stretch a bit to reach them and use your pinky, which isn't as usual, so to have the control you need to keep things under control, so to say.

    This was a good video because it shared real problems that we beginners have. You don’t get that in one to one standard student - teacher music lessons.

    I dont know if is unknown, but Liberty Bellows has a pretty good lesson program. Just in the web, ordered by accordion size. Maybe the lessons are a bit jumpy in terms of difficulty, some songs are stupidly easy and the next one can be difficult in some extend, but i think the easy one is easy because they explain very very well the song and you have learned the previous lessons correctly. It's not a teacher, but i think is pretty darn good for being free.

    Hi Jackson,
    I really enjoyed this video regarding left hand button issues. One problem I have had with the left hand for several years is pain developing in my lower left palm. I have been playing for almost 10 years. I am also an older adult (69 YO). Aside from resting any suggestions of how to address this?
    Thanks, Guy

    • @MusicConnoisseurian
      @MusicConnoisseurian 5 лет назад

      @@johntaliaferrothompson6052 you can get it with either. In Western European and the US the chromatics seem to be paired most often with the stradella bass. I own a b-system chromatic button with stradella bass. The classical music professionals in Russia, if not always, almost always, use the free bass on a bayan. However, I'm pretty sure you can get the basic 3 row bayans with stradella, just look at eBay. It's a lot more work to play free bass system. Lookup this up on RUclips: Vivaldi Summer bayan By the way, the chromatic button accordions come in b- or c-system which is most common in Western Europe/US if you were thinking of getting one.
