    I just performed service on my Showa forks and followed the instructions of this video. It was a piece of cake to do and my bike now handles so much better with the oil in both chambers changed out and the seals replaced. Charles and RMATVMC, thank you so much for your help. Buy all my stuff through you guys because you guys are all around the best.

    12:23 Amazing instructional video. I have a problem, however. Whenever I get to the point at the end when I am resetting the rebound clicker, the clicker itself does not move. Does the rebound clicker get automatically tightened (thus not allowing it to move when you are ready to adjust your clicker) when you torque the rebound adjusting nut?

      I would say it depends on how long it's been since you changed your seals and oil, if you've got around 20-30 hours on your forks, then it's a good idea to do a full service anyway. But if you have less than that, then yeah, I would only worry about the one fork seal. - Chase

    I am trying to get the cap assembly back into the damper but I simply cannot get the threads to engage. I’ve done everything by the book but it’s as though it is not inserting completely. Any suggestions? What am I doing wrong?

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  Год назад

      Hi, yeah it can be tricky. Double check the oil level and make sure it's not to high. Then, push the damping rod up as far as you can without spilling any oil out. Then insert the cap assembly, push down and thread in. This can help minimize any air that you would have to compress. Other than that, sometimes people install stiffer springs in that cap that can make it harder to push in. -Charles

    I teach motorcycle repair at a technical high school. My students better not spray any aerosol cleaners into the same pan where we drained the oil into, because it contaminates the oil to the point where it cannot be hauled off for recycling. Just a note for folks that must recycle oils. Bill Ross - Region 10 Technical High School - Brunswick, Maine

    I’m not understanding why oil has to go into the damper... I’m sure I’m wrong but it seems like that would make to much oil in the forks when you put the recommended amount of oil back into the fork. Or do you subtract a certain amount of oil from the end amount of what you put in the damper?
