I like how they portrayed her wedding compared to her wedding to Francis. In her wedding with Francis, it shows how light and happy she was. She was actually happy there compared to this wedding with the dark atmosphere. She isn’t even smiling in this one. You can really tell where her heart is even though her feet are moving at a completely different direction.

The last two seasons was actually the only time this show felt like a period drama. Before it was more like a teeny bopper CW teen drama. Even the costumes got better in the last two seasons. If you stopped watching then, you missed out on when the show actually got good.

I love Reign so much. I think a lot of people forget that it isn't really a love story, it's the tragic story of how Mary loses everyone she loves an eventually gives up on her personal happiness. It is so well done, as much as I hated the last season because Francis died and Mary was miserable, it was beautiful in the darkest way.
Mary told Francis when he died. . . That she would NEVER love anyone the way she loved him. She meant that and kept that promise. Even when she did sleep with Darnley and got pregnant. Even when she did marry him, all of it was for her country. There wasn’t a single moment where she did any of it bc she wanted to or because it made her happy. Those moments died with Francis and she knew she’d be sacrificing her own happiness to continue fighting for her country. The only other person she put effort into loving WAS her child. Everything else and everyone one came third in comparison to Francis and the baby, James.

I stopped watching the show after Francis was killed off, only sometimes caught on with clips from yt and I'll always remember the show but it's like watching something different for me, personally. Seeing how Mary was when Francis was alive, and how she is now, forced to marry Darnley... It really does look so different to me (not saying like a bad thing).

Darnley turned out to be a bad choice and many things went wrong. So, I cried when she first saw Francis's face in heaven! They both knew why the other did what they did even if they didn’t necessarily agree with it. Only Francis would sacrifice so much for Mary he loved her so deeply and so much more than any other man ever could. I’d like to think that’s the way it was in real life but things were different, but in the world of Reign I know that they’re united in heaven at last. I cried when Francis died, only tragedies can end up being so heart wrenching and memorable. We all knew what would happen in the end but still it hurts...
When Francis died I felt so sad it broke my heart and I cried. Love is not perfect but the love that Frary showed for each other seemed so real. These two have great chemistry and are good actors.
Notice how it is dark and gloomy at their wedding but it was happy and had lots of light at Marie and Francis’s wedding. And at Marie and Darnley’s wedding it was a song implying she did not want to marry him, but with Marie and Francis it was a song about love. 😭
What I love about this show is how Mary is such an amazing, brilliant person, but also human, with flaws and mistakes, and those are just left there among her good traits for the audience to notice and pick apart, rather than the show either actively excusing all of her mistakes or rubbing them in the audience's nose so that we can see "character development" through artificial flaws. She is a person, and it is on the audience to pick up which of her actions are correct and which faulty. My favorite is Greer's gentle "Mary, I know you, it won't be enough" which is basically a code for "you are so going to cheat on the schmuck".

I love this, you can see the difference even in her dresses. She is wearing white with Francis but gold to darnly. In history gold was the color for French weddings but she wore white to honor her country and traditions. I don't know if it was purposeful but it shows her honoring France and her true soulmate!😚

I loved this show. You hated and loved characters that showed their treacherous side, then their good side. How easily we forgive, how easily we can condemn. They had the most outrageous costumes, absolutely stunning! Learned my history too, not that everything was spot on, but pretty close. Now I have a new show to find, but will be hard to find another as colorful and as grand as Reign.
Exactly. So many fangirling over "poor dead cute Francis" want to make me vomit. And appearently a high school student left a comment about this show's almost perfect historical accuracy - laughable. I'm just 14, but have a great love for history and making a soapy teenage drama that feels like fantasy show could never do justice to the real Mary Stuart.
Y Francis died, because the show is based on history. He had to die, that was clear. The show is still pretty good. Its cool to see how Mary and Catherine get closer, how Mary goes back to Scottland and how everything goes downhill. Its History, not even the directors of the show could change that

I am sure this is a beatufil film but it is based on poor history., A number of people have commented on my last comment and I feel in the interest of Mary Stuart and truth they should be answered. Mary was fascinated by the young and dashing Darnley before the wedding but as with many brides the real person stepped out after the wedding. Darnley was a drunkard and womaniser. Mary fell out with him and refused to give him the matrimonial crown. This was important for it meant though King of Scotland he could sign nothing without Mary adding hers. Because of his behaviour Mary continued to refuse him this. When Darnley was found with the Pox in Glasgow Mary took him to Kirk O'Field to nurse him. She seemed to have been reconciled for she visited him often and sang with her maids outside his window and on occasions brought the hand to play from the Castle. robert Guy the historian claims that She must have had something to do with his murder' but historians deal with facts not opinions. Later in June Guy refers to the fact that Mary is said to be five months pregnant but again dismisses the fact saying it would have been better known. Why She was worried about her now life and the life of her child and the dress and the loyalty of her Ladies would have kept it quite. Why Guy did not want ruined was the Bothwell story, for undoubtedly the baby born at Loch Leven was that of Darnley, which is why the idea of a three-month old baby being born was ridiculous. A good book to read is The Life of Mary Stuart Queen of Scopts by Agnes Strickland. Written in the 19th century it was dismissed because for the first time someone had written the life of Mary in a good light.
I know it's over a year since you wrote this comment, but I just have to let you know (if you haven't figured it out in the meantime) that nobody who work with the series have ever claimed it to be historical corect. Also: great that you wrote this, I am really interessed in moniarchiology (defenition: a person who loves studying royals and such), and learnt alot. PS: like you probably got, it's a series, not a film, and I totally recomend it. It's off in a mollion ways when it comes to accuracy, but fantastic entertainment. That's it.

Exactly. So many fangirling over "poor dead cute Francis" want to make me vomit. And appearently a high school student left a comment about this show's almost perfect historical accuracy - laughable. I'm just 14, but have a great love for history and making a soapy teenage drama that feels like fantasy show could never do justice to the real Mary Stuart.

Y Francis died, because the show is based on history. He had to die, that was clear. The show is still pretty good. Its cool to see how Mary and Catherine get closer, how Mary goes back to Scottland and how everything goes downhill. Its History, not even the directors of the show could change that
On my wedding day which was Just recent I was inspired to have a similar veil as Mary's in her second one!!! i just LOVE her veil!!!!!

Francis and Mary were soulmates! When Francis died, a part of Mary died with him. She was never the same. Poor Soul, living in a world while partially dead. 😢😢
I'm commenting on all of these because it's brining back memories 😂 but you can tell that Mary didn't want to marry him and she still loved Francis 💗 four years later and I still adore them

I am sure this is a beatufil film but it is based on poor history., A number of people have commented on my last comment and I feel in the interest of Mary Stuart and truth they should be answered. Mary was fascinated by the young and dashing Darnley before the wedding but as with many brides the real person stepped out after the wedding. Darnley was a drunkard and womaniser. Mary fell out with him and refused to give him the matrimonial crown. This was important for it meant though King of Scotland he could sign nothing without Mary adding hers. Because of his behaviour Mary continued to refuse him this. When Darnley was found with the Pox in Glasgow Mary took him to Kirk O'Field to nurse him. She seemed to have been reconciled for she visited him often and sang with her maids outside his window and on occasions brought the hand to play from the Castle. robert Guy the historian claims that She must have had something to do with his murder' but historians deal with facts not opinions. Later in June Guy refers to the fact that Mary is said to be five months pregnant but again dismisses the fact saying it would have been better known. Why She was worried about her now life and the life of her child and the dress and the loyalty of her Ladies would have kept it quite. Why Guy did not want ruined was the Bothwell story, for undoubtedly the baby born at Loch Leven was that of Darnley, which is why the idea of a three-month old baby being born was ridiculous. A good book to read is The Life of Mary Stuart Queen of Scopts by Agnes Strickland. Written in the 19th century it was dismissed because for the first time someone had written the life of Mary in a good light.
I know it's over a year since you wrote this comment, but I just have to let you know (if you haven't figured it out in the meantime) that nobody who work with the series have ever claimed it to be historical corect. Also: great that you wrote this, I am really interessed in moniarchiology (defenition: a person who loves studying royals and such), and learnt alot.
PS: like you probably got, it's a series, not a film, and I totally recomend it. It's off in a mollion ways when it comes to accuracy, but fantastic entertainment. That's it.
