I agree with this video but it's also very common for forest/mountain paths to suddenly stop and start somewhere else because nature grows back on them. So the random paths/stopped paths in sumeru make perfect sense to me haha
The first thing that set me off about the way Hoyo's team handled the trade/npc/road route worldbuilding, was when we first went into Sumeru. It is a very pretty path for an adventurer to go through, with a Statue of the Seven being one of the first things that welcome you there (mainly to have the Dendro power available immediately.) But the whole time after exploring Sumeru's border from the Chasm and around that, I got more confused on how it all worked. I just assumed after visiting Port Ormos, that the region only traded via that massive dock.
asmon you are wrong about this topic, pull me up and we can talk asmon: nah bro permaban, ill pull up this unhinged guy making no sense instead for content, i dont want to debate with actual people
I’ve always been mentally critiquing how well the roads and infrastructure is, how defensible the games castles/cities are, and whether there’s enough farms and small towns.
i have also wondered a lot about the placement of Yilong wharf lol. It faces lumidouce harbour directly...which is great..however that is a very manhandled port even though the melusine aquabus guide says that Lumidouce is where most of tourists and goods come to fontaine. But romaritime is the one that has been developed, even though its literally next to a desert and not many people come via there. Not to mention, Bayda harbour is disconnected from Yilong wharf and Lumidouce harbor both..there are literally waterfalls between them lol. So sumeru's trade with fontaine can only be done via Romaritime harbor, meaning what kind of crack was that melusine(Elphane?) on? Also, why is bayda harbor so small, considering that is the only port that connects it to fontaine for trade, Port Ormos is not reachable from fontaine...so is there no trade relation between Fontaine and Sumeru? Seems a very bad choice tbh, i would assume the nation of wisdom would be closely associated with the nation that has the largest mechanical institute. There are two major settlements in mond, the mondstadt city at the centre(ish) of the cider lake and Springvale to the south west end of cider lake. So you would assume you can take goods there via boats(i mean there is only one road in and out of mond, so if all traffic goes through there, it would get congested..also timmy would cry 24/7 as everyone would be scaring the pigeons off at all times). But the only docks on cider lake are on south east of mond and south east of cider lake(near the statue of the seven)...where are you taking the goods from there? To the sea? even if you are taking it there..why? There is no port over there(unless there is a portal to dorman port..no road takes you to a docking station) so you cant be taking it to the sea for trading with inazuma , liyue and port ormos...and even if there was a port, Falcon coast would be a better spot, it is a very open area for a port, and close to main city...and then it would make sense why there are giant light houses atop stormbearer mountain and starsnatch cliff. Infact if you wanna take it to liyue, might as well go by road next to Dawn Winery, the sea route might note even be the best one.
59:57 So...about that. 😅 Gotta remember nearly every person in the Kamisato estate is a combatant of vary capabilities. actually she's wrong about the Chasm guards. They DO stop you from passing if you don't finish the Chasm's pre-entry questline! So they do their jobs well. Also another reason why The Kamisato estate doesn't "Have" very many guards is because they technically have a group of Ninja protecting them. So just cause you can't SEE them, doesn't mean they aren't there XD
Not to mention Tsarevich. I feel like he is in the wrong place. Also, the way every Fatui I've met says in-game, including Tarti, Señora and Teucer that they will take a boat home. We can store thousands of items in our bag. The obvious logical solution is that one little boat could carry a nation’s worth of supplies. So the little dock area makes complete sense.
Jokes aside, I'm fairly certain Genshin just follows that unspokem rule of game design where (especially for Open-World games) "The map you play in is a microcosm of a greater world, your imagination can fill in the unseen." as in you can't Actually walk from Mondstadt to Sumeru in about 7 minutes (characters like Kaeya treat it as a multi-day journey). Like Dunyarzad's family is apparently of somewhat higher standing than the average Sumeru citizen and lives in another town or an estate of their own but you can't actually ever go to or even see it, and of course there's more cases like this for just regular traveling npcs or such, implying there are plently more towns and housing story wise it's just gameplay wise we don't see more people or towns/housing for the sake of said gameplay (who wants to spend 4 actual hours traveling from 1 town to the next, unless you're into Death Stranding which I hear is quite calming). This is just something a lot of people seem to either forget or not even think about nowadays, Pokemon is a good example where the Kanto Region isn't actually the size of a small town that could be walked across in minutes and their towns don't only contain 6 people and some houses that are a singular room.
I didn’t look at the time stamp when I opened the video and as I comment this you’re starting on the rest of the videos and I am so excited that you’re watching bee’s stuff! She’s so creative and funny!
I actually think about the pathways all the time. It's like when you look at old versions of "open world games" which just have big but empty maps. Teyvat kind of feels like that in a lot of ways once you actually LOOK at the land and world. I also binged their videos recently because they're so right on a lot of this. I agree with the Diluc part because I don't think he would want Knights at the winery but at the same time it's used as a venue from time to time and he doesn't have his own private security (at least not one we know of; I guess it could be people from that network he's in). I feel like he would be required/expected to allow knights to be present during events that use the winery as a venue unless he hires out his own or solos it. If I recall, Reekwind is literally called that as a nickname because he was a slacker who "didn't care much for his appearance" (stimky no showers) 😭 Apparently choosing to get himself together led to his forgetfulness...
@@spyrothetimelord well yeah varka took everyone competent with him, which makes me question how godwin got picked (it makes me think he wasn't actually supposed to go with Varka and he's been lying to glory for no reason)
@@kaiseremotion854we hope that's the case but Diluc's opinion makes me wonder otherwise. But I'll never forget that Varka's letter during Weinlesefest said something about everyone being accounted for, which made me wonder if genshin devs forgot they say/imply Godwin got left behind, or if Varka knows he got left and doesn't care 😂
I've been wondering.... We've only seen characters visiting other nations....but Khaenri'ah aside for obvious reason, have we ever seen a major interaction between nation and nation?
Inazuma has had interactions in events for post-Decree trade. And of course Fatui have been messing around everywhere while having official diplomats talking with local representatives.
Recently in game we’ve seen Inazuma reaching out diplomatically to Liyue and Fontaine. And trade agreements have been mentioned. But yeah it seems like the nations on a political level seem very isolationist and keep to themselves.
@@TheCsel I think that comes with having active gods. as the two regions with the most trade between each other are mondstadt and liyue, who haven't had a god, and only had a god visit once a year(and now is "dead") meanwhile inazuma and fontaine had active gods, and sumeru technically had one
Bro I knew as soon as you showed the house in inazuma you were looking at her videos I just watched them all. I love genshins world building so I also love her channel makes the game feel more real to see all these things that I think about on my own time be put into a cohesive video
Fun fact: the wooden houses in Inazuma are actually one of the most culturally accurate aspects of the area! For centuries (less so in urban areas and now with the rise of modern construction technology) Japanese houses were made largely of paper/wood/light materials due to the high frequency of earthquakes and lighter material meant less people would be injured or k!lled when their houses fell down.
The road from Liyue to Sumeru is the one that goes through the chasm (the one from the Caribert quest). I will never forget that road because that was how I got to Sumeru the first time lol~
Who knows, maybe traders learned how to use teleport waypoints. 40:50 didn't those houses belong to an orphaned kid from a sidequest? He gave like a recipe or something like that. Or was that possibly the house that belonged to the doctor who died? Gotta be one of the 2, only those houses were in that area as I recall. Kamisato estate with not enough guards? The old lady in the garden could kick Ayaka's butt in a fight. She was the head of whatever it was called? Shiimatsuban? That Sayu a ninja/assassin is part of. If you ask me, in that entire house, the guards are the weakest people, and in a really scary situation, it'd be the people living there protecting the guards.
I would Love an event wshere we get missions by the local authorities (favonius kniights, xising, corps of thirty etc) where we need to improve the roads and infrastructure of teyvat. Just me? ok I will leave
She probably watched _Any Austin_ (he does this style of videos for Skyrim: from rating restaurants, to how many people are employed, or if the rivers make any sense) and thought of making videos about Genshin.
The guard in Liyue that keeps copying what people say is so funny. I read the Teyvat travel guide, written by Alice, and to cure this guard's stutter, she put a spell on him, but that meant he could only reply to what other people said. I read it in the book and immediately went to the place. Couldn't stop laughing when I saw they were actually there.
the 3 berries/10 road in sumeru that leads (or doesn't lead) to the statue stops there because people in sumeru didn't worship for nahida for so long that they just didn't take the road up anymore and therefore the road got reclaimed by nature, that's just what happens to dirt paths D:
Did she never saw the cargo container attached to balloons we help in daily quests they can move through anywhere, in sumeru there are tamed sumpter beasts carry goods,
Also the landscape and geography is always changes in tyvet due to many things like laylines and other things like the whole mondstat map is different now due to klee blastes and mountain to that lake

As someone who had a potato laptop once and couldn't use waypoints, I noticed this route problem for merchants for a long time now.
50:41 SOMEONE CLIP THIS TO MAKE BRAN LAUGH IN THE NEXT YLYL PLEASE
Remember, Teyvat has it’s own laws
Mondstadt: The nation of freedom, ironically has some of most linear pathways of any nation
(linear being straightforward, not necessarily straight)
The kamisato estate is protected by ninja you don’t see lol
I love her videos!
Mondstadt guards are pretty canonically lazy and overly reliant on Jean etc hmm
@@spyrothetimelord well yeah varka took everyone competent with him, which makes me question how godwin got picked (it makes me think he wasn't actually supposed to go with Varka and he's been lying to glory for no reason)
@@kaiseremotion854we hope that's the case but Diluc's opinion makes me wonder otherwise. But I'll never forget that Varka's letter during Weinlesefest said something about everyone being accounted for, which made me wonder if genshin devs forgot they say/imply Godwin got left behind, or if Varka knows he got left and doesn't care 😂
ive been bothered by the docks and trade routes too lmao like why does bayda harbour look like THAT
Omg I LOVE her videos I’m so happy you reacted to one
“When you admitting WuWa better-“
*gets fucking obliterated*
i found my favourite genre of genshin videos
Fun fact: the wooden houses in Inazuma are actually one of the most culturally accurate aspects of the area! For centuries (less so in urban areas and now with the rise of modern construction technology) Japanese houses were made largely of paper/wood/light materials due to the high frequency of earthquakes and lighter material meant less people would be injured or k!lled when their houses fell down.
The road from Liyue to Sumeru is the one that goes through the chasm (the one from the Caribert quest). I will never forget that road because that was how I got to Sumeru the first time lol~
Remember, there aren't any horses or forms of transportation in Genshin Impact... except for the advanced Natlan I suppose.
resin-less behavior
Knew from the title alone that it was Beerevity. Let's goooo
Ngl that Aranara face jump scared me bad. PTSD.
10:52 - navigable: (of a waterway or sea) able to be sailed on by ships or boats.
and now, we have waters (lake? Sea? who knows, gotta love arlechinno for fixing the trade routes though)
i've seen the road video one awhile back, and ever since then i've paid a little more attention to the roads in genshin XD
An hour of video? It's a blessing ❤
Love your content bro pls keep it up
the 3 berries/10 road in sumeru that leads (or doesn't lead) to the statue stops there because people in sumeru didn't worship for nahida for so long that they just didn't take the road up anymore and therefore the road got reclaimed by nature, that's just what happens to dirt paths D:
Just in case we get hit by truck-kun and get isekai'd in Teyvat, we need these safety inpection videos.
She mentioned them once. I initially thought maybe they use them instead of horses, and had a picture in my head of Kaeya leading balloon cavalry
Now i kinda want you to react to the freminet family tree theory video
omg yes
28:04 Man... poor Le Goff they did him dirty :'[
Glad i wasnt the only one questioning how we ended up early
