Yub Nub is meh and that's coming from someone who grew up with it. It doesn't even sound like John Williams. I get that it's probably what the Ewoks (who I love!) would sing, but The Victory Celebration fits with what the larger galaxy went through. It's just so much more powerful and emotional. To each their own!
I'm 50 years old and saw the original Yub Nub in theaters in 1983... but the newer "Victory Celebration" is SO SO much better, grander and epic for the trilogy.
@@moviesarespiritual I was being generous at six, personally I could be convinced that the official number is actually 3 and they were the pre 1996 original theatrical versions.
No, you are wrong about the Yub Nub crap. Even as a kid at the time I heard that and the first thing I though is "This is from some commercial I heard the other day". Terrible. I won't say the replacement music was good or anything, but it was welcome to get rid of that other ick. And I do recognize the Ewoks contribution and never had issues with them. In fact their introduction as a creature that might enjoy some "Rebellious Roast" was played very well.
As a composer who loves Star Wars and has analyzed all 9 films, I totally agree with you on the music in Return of the Jedi. Lepti Nek was perfect. I mean real perfect as it evoked an alien world music. Yup Nub was an amazing piece of music, that actually has had performances by large choirs on the concert stage. It could have been used in the new final ending and worked just fine. The new one that John Williams composed seemed like "okay George, whatever you say." and just did something to please Lucas. The song Jedi Rocks was not even composed by John Williams. He said to Lucas "you have my blessings to find a replacement." I just don't even know why he didn't listen to Williams on these two tracks because normally (both before the special editions and also during the prequels he let Willams do his thing. I mean let's be honest John Williams is a master and without his score the scenes would have been dull.
Ah, that makes total sense. I'm a musician myself. I always thought Williams was pretty incredible. Even when he returned years later to compose for the prequels, Duel of the Fates was an incredible song that was just as memorable to me as some of the original songs. I still love listening to the soundtrack when I play the old Episode One Racer game.
We do love Rogue One. Yeah, @snart2195 is right, it could be 12 if counting Rogue One, Solo and the Clone Wars. We were just referring to the main franchise trilogies.

I think we as a society must accept the fact that ”Victory Celebration” is 100x better than ”Yub Nub” and by far the best special edition change
Six films. There are six films, not nine. Let us never speak of this again.
There are actually 12 films in total
Haha yes... I think we would agree with you

The the new ending is so much better. Time to be objective and not nostalgic based
Ending song in ROTJ special edition is so much better imo
Hard agreed, this is some old hat opinions but what can you do
John William's tune is better than yub nub, sets the scene of Vader's pyre way better.
It's interesting to hear everyone's thoughts on that. More people like the change than I expected!
Wrong. Yubnub translates to "Feedom" not victory. As revealed in Bantha Tracks, 1983. 2 minutes in and already way wrong. Bye
Nine films? What about Rogue One?
12 technically. Rogue One, Solo, and the Clone Wars film are excluded

Talk shit about Jedi Rocks. But keep Victory Celebration out of your mouth!
Nostalgic bla bla
Six films.
Lol! You're the second person to say that today. Yes... 7-9 definitely blew up the canon. It should be 6 films!
