Whatever the pros and cons of the internet, thank goodness it allows us to enjoy this music today despite the decreasing numbers of such good bands and the loss of musicians such as Ken and Monty. How sad that they can't bequeath their talent to others as they leave us
I was lucky to listen to Ken and of course to Monty Sunshine's Band in 1974 in London. Unforgettable - Fantastic reunion in 1994 with Chris Barber and his original 1954 line-up with Monty, Pat, Lonnie, Chris, Ron and Jim in Zurich.... I still have that sound in my ears!
Vielen Dank für diese video; es ist das ersten mal (first time) ich siehe Micky Ashman (so gut/net) auf eine Bühne (schon mit Chris barber in die 60th jahren). Grüsse aus Elsass Frankreich. Jo Luttringer
The trombone player sounds the same, I thought jazz players prefer that kind of sound?is it perhaps not what the trumpet playing is doing as well. Sorry I don’t play jazz, but the sound is more clear on for example classical/hymn side of brass.
Monty Sunshine remains the finest clarinettist ever to set foot on this planet and I doubt anyone will ever replace him

Never will this planet ever see a clarinettist who can hold a candle against Monty Sunshine
I got a phone call from Monty ..Wild Bill Davison was over from the U.S. he wanted to play with Monty..They played the 100 club..late 1980's

Love it all and that banjo player is rock solid!! Loved his on-spot chord progressions and strumming accents.
Great clarinet .
Rip Monty .. beautiful players.. ❤
Wonderful!
Excellent and will be in our heads with great thanks forever ....

Fantastiskt!
Great music. Malc Murphy used to play drums for Collyer but that wasn't him in that session. Loved the 100 club and Ken Collyers club too.
Great line up. Ken Colyer, trumpet. Monty Sunshine, clarinet - could someone please list the other musicians. Thanks.
Hermien Nees! Prachtig. !
❤🎉
Amazing!!
There is no doubt that Monty Sunshine was the best clarinettist to ever walk this planet and Ken was pretty good on the trumpet
Bril. Memories of Ell Pie Island Jazz Club.
Wonderful singing by Ken
awfull singing just awfull
This is jazz
no this is has-beens who can't play anymore
That's very true!
Vidunderlig Jazz.......................
Alan Gresty tpt, Mickey Ashman bass, Geoff Downes dr, Barry Dew bjo. Not sure who is on trombone. Mostly regulars with Monty's band at that time.
According to a couple of comments on another video of this recording on RUclips it's Eddie Blashfield on trombone.
Usually John Beecham...But not here
Postman's Lament, I think.
It would be better with a black, not blue, backgruond
Ken Colyer's tone is pretty bad here. I suppose that he wasn't playing often by 1981.

@kenfarmer STUPID . . . ken Colyer sings so beautiful here as has always .
it was awfull and sounded as though he was a beginner. the singing was even worst.
