- Certainly not the easiest option but I think we found a good middle ground to get new pipework in to the top floor yet still keeping the 'original' look. I was going to be a stubborn purist and go with all cast iron but having seen how it turned out I think it's just fine.

😬
Having completed a few renovations myself over the years and that feeling of being just knackered at the end of the day , then the thought of filming it all while I go and all the editing etc ...well fair play to you , crack on your doing a fine job !
Amazing job you should be well proud of what you have achieved Tim 👏👏👌🏻👍🍷
Brilliant video. Just about to start on my third house renovation and there's always more to learn. Thank you.
looks great Tim, well done mate
That looks legit, and no-one would be any the wiser that it's plastic. Fair play!
Yay- happy to hear that the expense of the scaffolding is behind you.
I love watching your videos. It’s interesting the differences between how you do things versus how we do them in the US.
I’ve wrestled with a pvc soil stack covered in fairy liquid Tim, I felt your pain. Wasn’t aware of a tool, would’ve saved us both a lot of time and effort! 🤬😂
never before have I been this happy to hear the words: "the scaffolding is down" :-))))))
Those pipes look amazing..great job Tim!
Thanks for this, I need to do this very job in the next couple of months and now know that Hargreaves can help!
Hargreaves Foundry stuff is great.
Tim, have you tested the plastic run?
Also if you had put the rubber in hot water, it would of helped
Good job, looks great!
Awesome job
Looks very smart
Very informative video !
Really liked your project you did very well to keep the cast iron stack. Do you have a link for the cast iron soil pipe you used with the push fit connectors? thanks OK rewatched and you said its a Hargreaves Foundry hence 'HF' stamped on fitting.
Heroic job 😎👍
Looks fabulous
Once again you satisfy my OCD,, love your approach to the project, some so called professionals could learn from you 🤔👍👍
I find that component DIY'ers often do a better job, as they tend to take a lot longer to achieve a better finish. A professional would have to charge a lot to get things done to the same standard. Professionals obviously do it way quicker, in most cases, but don't have the time to go back and fill defects 4 or 5 times to get a prefect finish, or take several weeks to get the bit of wooden siding just right.
@@cjhification agreed, compodent amateur individuals can achieve a high quality because they are driven by the end result rather than renumeration. In saying that it was a pleasure to watch the skills of the plumber carrying out the roof lead work, a real pro. Who obviously has pride and skill at a level unlikely to be attained without years of experience. Anyone charging professional rates should be able to produce top quality work faster with more skill and accuracy than any amateur.
@@gordyl9247 absolutely, professional do the job day in day out, so usually can do a good job, quickly. As you say they have to value time at a professional rate, which makes for expensive work if it takes several weeks; to an average homeowners, that's rapid for something like a bathroom remodel.
Fantastic job great information happy new year to you and family
Silicone spray is great for making the connections
Unfortunately it wasn’t enough this time. Usually does the job though. 👍
Oops sorry I missed that part! I didn't realise you had tried and it didn't work!
Looks great, good work
Hi Tim I mentioned in your last drainage vid that you should change the 90 bend for an access 90 bend trust me it's better to have it and not need it than to not have it and hav a blockage and no external access.
The access elbow is the other side of wall where en suite will be. That way it’s not visible outside but easy access inside. 👍
@@TheRestorationCouple would still be better outside sir you wouldn't want a sewage spill inside the building if it backs up.
Just thought.
Great work!
Nice job there, looks excellent. 👍
I need Someone like You ,I had a New Bathroom Suite installed ant the Plumber has made a mess of joining the Soil Pipe from the Toilet to the Caste Iron Soil Pipe outside, He wrapped the Joint in something and also the outside waste Pipe for the Sink I want the outside of My House to look good and the outside soil pipe painted.
good job !!!!!
Aw Tim I was really looking forward to seeing you pouring molten Lead😀. Regards Jim.
Had enough old stuff lying around! 😀
Looks Good. Have you different for inside and outside? In germany grey is inside. Not for cold temperature.
Grey or black outside, brown underground as not UV resistant. That’s for soil pipes.
Why did you put the sealant in before you finished connecting all the pipes?
Brilliant.
Did you chamfer the end of the plastic pipe before putti ng into the castiron pipe
Yep, even the factory chamfer wouldn’t go easy. To be fair, it is designed for the cast which was a couple of mm smaller.
Now that lovely roof is finished Tim you’ll have to re-film your intro 👍
We're looking at buying scaffolding, then selling once we're done (whenever that might be). I was quoted £6.5k for setup and the first 3 months rental, out of interest do you mind sharing what you spent on your hire and how long it was up for (feels like years!)
£1900 with 8 weeks. We went over quite a bit but the extra came to around £500. Went up mid September.
@@TheRestorationCouple Ugh, guess thats just highlands and islands premium them. We had a quote for 40m (2x 20m runs) 8m high, 3 lifts. It's cheaper to buy the scaffolding and truck it up it seems.
I had my doughts, but I'm happy with the way it looks painted. I hope the paint lasts..
Judging by how hard it has been to clean off the porch floor and other drips I’m pretty confident and others have used on upvc with several years. Fortunately it’s at a level I can easily get to off my tower scaffold if really needed but should be fine.
I got caught on that with that Cr*p spray(never again)......when I used the correct brought lube from screwfix it fly's in the socket. I have a big tub of it now. Also I learnt the easyway to get plastic 110 push fit apart. Before I used to wiggle it and pull then the guy from osma told me to put a screwdriver in the lip gap on the side and twist and it pops off the plastic top and the rubber is free. Then you just put the rubber back on and push the plastic back down and hey presto you can push it back in again. Simple when your told how to do it.
Nice!
How long does the battery last on the grinder Tim?
I've always like to have the right tool for the job, but as time passes, I have learned to value my time, £20 for a quick, stress free job, sounds a lot more reasonable now.
This was not a 💩 video 😂😂😂😂👍👍👍👍
That is such a strange thing for me to see a sewerline outside. You don't see that here in Finland due to freezing issues.
Looks really clean install though. Hopefully the plastic pipe will hold the paint. Sun might affect it differently than the cast iron.
Love your content. 5/5
Yeah you wont see any pipes on the outside in the Europe
Normally it's not a problem in the UK, it just doesn't freeze for long periods here.... saying that I had a smaller frozen waste pipe last week :)
Did you chamfer the plastic pipe before pushing it in?
Yep. 👍
Looks like a quality job that roof project must be draining you
At 7:40 >> name that electroswing, please!
As an engineer I would have simply gone to a steel supplier not a supplier of house materials for the pipe. 3m of schedule 10 , 4" pipe - £27. Same stuff just a fraction of the price and you can get 6m lengths as well. 6" is 84 quid - still cheap.
Fairy liquid rots the rubber
by the time you you painted everything a same colour you wouldn't tell the difference between plastic and cast iron welldon Tim.
Even PVC to PVC can be painful to join.
Soak the ruber seal in hot water for about 10 mins to soften it, then use fairy liquid as a lube to help get the pipes in.
Yeah did think that afterwards, may well have worked. That’s said it was close to freezing most days to would have had to take the kettle up there. 😀
Fairy liquid is a degreaser. You should never use it on rubbers, it dries them out . You wouldnt wash your car with it
❤️❤️👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🙋🏻♀️💕🇬🇧jane
Yay Poo ... LOL
Bend with an access as it leaves house would have been nice but hey, who gives a shit about the plumber that comes to clear a blockage...
Access on elbow the other side of the wall with easy access. 👍
That’s a shit job 😂
Yep that’s the idea with soil pipes. 👍
