Many upgrades you may come accross passively providing you scan new areas. Take down new machines and shoot off/harvest components when you can. Shoot down and hunt various wildlife as you never know when something might come in handy. Personally, I like to discover most things for myself then if I realise I made a mistake I’ll start over.

I actually like the armor, the mixed set works well if you just to randomize your play. The bow is great too, but that death bow from the arena hits more for me.
But wow, too many armors look identical, not even like based on rarity like in Ghost of Tsushima when you level the armor up, which would have been great. Color schemes aren't good enough, especially when you can change them now.
Don’t make the mistake I did. I spent about 15-20 hours before the final quests hunting down every resource needed to fully upgrade all the legendary weapons- turns out upgrading past level 3 really isn’t that important at all and is just headache inducing with how much effort you have to put in.
"Don't upgrade anything except for very early/late/end/post-game stuff, ignore and outright avoid upgrading literally anything blue or purple more than/even once, hoard resources like a pack rat and never use them until you're kitted out in full legendary gear and can stage-dive a thunderjaw." Yeah cause i'm gonna deliberately gimp myself and give the enemies a significant handicap against myself. Sure. You can only say that cause you've beaten every single game you've ever covered on their equivalent to Hell or Hell difficulty from DMC with no upgrades/damage and your view of being low level has as such become jaded from your overwhelming amount of experience. I'm sort of the same way in some games but I still get bodied from time to time and sure i've given advice to numerous lower level players, but i'd never tell them "Yeah just don't upgrade your equipment until the end of the game." That's just bad advice and, if you were a doctor, malpractice.
Yep. The vlogger might be in normal mode thats why it was prolly easy to say "dont upgrade till mid-late game." In Very Hard mode, its quite difficult not having to upgrade weapons. Two digit damages takes so much time and ammo. Plus, dont need to use everything in the game depending on the play style.
I used the vanguard hunter bow tear is 254 with damage low at 83 fully upgraded. Then I demolish them with the skykiller! For smaller to medium machines the vanguard can take them out with one shot to their weak spot. Plus building up your skill in warrior, hunter and infiltrator helps a lot.
So many people say “complete all the races, it’s not that hard and doesn’t take that long.” Meanwhile I’m here completely unable to come close to winning a single race.
About wasting resources crafting advanced ammo (or using them on weaker machines) I would point you towards powershots Valor surge lvl 3. 5 free attacks for most weapons and a free ammo refill for the currently equipped ammo. Maybe build an armor purely to speed grind Valor off weaker mobs so you can use powershots more freely? Valor surge master and maybe stealth gain skills (just go silent strike spam on weaker herds)
True, if you have the right skills and use the right valor for the situation your in, you won't be wasting resources. Also be sure to loot everything. You have no true item limit since what you can't carry in your inventory will automatically go to your stash box so you may have much more resources than you think, if you never check your stash when you are running low on something.
Good content, I've got 115hrs it the Forbidden West only cause I hate that when you start the final mission (singularity) the open world is closed. I decided to just pursue upgrades and unknown locations. I won't lie though I was hoping for more side quests.
I thought warrior bows and gauntless were trash additions. Lances are cool if you use the trap feature. Otherwise, bows and slings are still the go-to. I swear tripwires were nerfed with how far they go. I haven't been able to use them in a while.
Its ok to upgrade purple weapons to level 2, anything beyond that I started getting suspcious because its quite expensive for rare parts and I thought "hmm... if there are legendary versions I dont want to be upgrading twice" lol, looks like my suspicions were accurate
This game is a single player masterpiece! I've upgraded at least 2/3 purple weapons and armours without finishing the main quest or side quests and have no regrets!! I clicked on this link in wonder if I should be having regrets but like many in this chat who think soaking this is in the way you want will give you the most out of it - is absolutely spot on!! The whole point is that process of personal discovery is remarkable, remember when you last did that with Skyrim?
Man Dying light 2 and hzd has been amazing this year is already off to a great start not into Elden ring but people are excited for it so another win for gamers and we got the Lego Star Wars coming soon
I save resource materials by frosting everything and using an impact spear to do all the damage. It’s hella fun, hella cheap, hella fast and hella safe to kill monsters with. Kind of an OP combo tbh 🤣🤣🤣
I actually found that upgrading the purple gear is easier to do, gold is better but harvesting the parts needed is a little harder and unnecessary especially if you’re not into repetitive grinds that can be frustrating.
I'm sure this will get buried but bro...you're such a great resource for tips and tricks without spoilers. You are appreciated so much! Glad to be back and have you back for the sequel!!!
I absolutely loved the first one and really hyped this game buthinking it wouldmt actually reach my expectations but it surpassed them and I love it more than the first.
upgrading items was a negative in this game, it was just such a grind and it was not needed that much as the extra power wasn't fully noticeable. Also I really wanted a "hidden" armour like the first game. , That said, this is not making me hate the game, I loved it and have completed most of it.
craft ammo at workbench for volatile sludge requiring types , and unlock workbench expert skill for making ammo more cheaply try to use mostly hunter arrows on the run against normal machines
Regalla's Wrath upgraded fully with some good coils has made it my strongest weapon in the game. Using it with the cloaking valor and braced shot hits so hard.
What difficulty are you playing on? I’m on ‘normal’ but barely died so far. I just entered No Man’s Land, so I’m not too far in. Will it get harder or should I crank up the difficulty? I’m looking for a fun time, nothing Souls like, but a little challenge is fine.
Ok I had to choose between Elden ring or forbidden West a year ago.... I was really invested in fromsoft so I got Elden ring. That being Said I had the platinum in horizon zero dawn and absolutely love the game. How do you get that legendary warrior bow? Thought you said do all the races but it only looks like there’s one. I do have something that says get the van garden hunter bow but I was looking for that legendary warriors bow.
Yes the first one, honestly the amount of gronding needed to upgrade everything ruins the possibility of variety in this game. I could have great armors throughout the game, but id have to spend sooooo long upgrading them and then they would be useless soon after. So you either get by with like 1 or 2 lesser armors, or spend again a long time at low level trying to upgrade the legendary stuff... its terrible. I put off buying a better bow or armor because i just knew after the next mission id likely get something as good or better that id want to use. Wish theyd change it somehow
If they decreased the raw number of resources needed and increased the variety of their sources, it would feel wayyyy more fun. I totally agree that it just doesn’t feel rewarding at all
@@barkbarkshark3797 yeah I think this is why I'm trying to avoid the upgrading as much as I can, far too much of a time sink, way too much time for me imo
yeah in my playthrough I realized pretty early that there's literally no point upgrade bows past tier 3 or even just one level is enough. save all resources for legendary, but there are some exceptions like this blue sharpshooter bow I have that can shoot tear bow with 300+ damage.
@@themagnus2919 yeah also it was a huge let down with the legendary one from arena, because it doesn't have tear arrow and crafting require rare resources it's not sustainable in fights, ended up back to this blue bow and for raw damage I just use the legendary spike. Ez
I want to save my resources for legendary weapons and armour but i am afraid I won’t be powerfull enough with my green stuff for the world before I can get my hands on legendary
@@KarelAnkerr um for green or blue dw too much just go ahead and upgrade them as you would like. It's the purple (higher tier upgrades) that will a lot of times overlap the parts with legendary, the story gives you plenty access to purple gears but i wouldn't upgrade them all the way to tier 4, or rather when parts required are very rare or hard to get.
when it comes to upgrades would the best idea to just replace all gear and weapons with the next tier, so from green to blue to purple etc. and just upgrade legendary?
1st part of your video is true, I need to stop wasting time upgrading blue/green weapons and armour, maybe halfway if I have the parts but apart from that I will wait for legendaries before I waste money and resources on lower tier weapons + armour
What pouch do you have to upgrade in the game to increase the amount of health plans you can carry to you know quickly replenish your health if you don't have potions? Thanks
Hi. Total noob here. Still learning the basics. what button is RT? Is it R1 + R2? is it pressing down on the right stick? I was melee-ing a the cobra boss in the beginning or something I think, then, it got stunned, and a prompt for RT showed up and nothing of what I pushed on the controller worked. :/
as much as i am grateful that your one of the only content creators for this game i can get info i need from. id have much appreciated you not showing the endgame in your beginner tutorial videos. you have spoiled over 6 machine types i didnt know existed. im not cranky about it, its much more about the hunt for me. but i think the ratio between whats cool and what to show in a video should have correlated to the area your making a tutorial for. per instance, mistakes you can make, nothing of this video should have shown endgame places creatures or equipment. I didnt even know there was legendary equipment. i think some people would be rather salty at the fact that you show unnecessary footage of beyond the embassy or the mid half of the game (first tallneck region) anyway, thanks for the video. i like that you do have very detailed and thought out pieces. but i am not a platinum hunter, so you might need to alter your takes on playstyle based on the gamers intended experience. im 12hrs in and only past the embassy, i play it nora style so i hunt my machines and i dont care about expensive ammo being used or upgrades for outdating. my goal is to survive and save the planet. that and i like riding around on my chainsaw goat.
I don't understand? Don't upgrade your weapon because you *might* find a better weapon later at some point maybe. ...but how do you know if and when you'll find a better weapon? And when do you know when you have a weapon that *is* worth upgrading??
I dont know if the developer put it as easter egg or it was a glitch but looking for Goose loot for upgrade really befitting the the terms "chasing goose".It would fly even if you are far away from it and even the loot dissapear if you didnt manage grab it fast enough after shooting it.
One thing that I've discovered is if you kill wildlife on the ground with a fire arrow you tend to get more resources like skin and bones most of the time, and killing vultures in the gives you more too. I don't know why killing two diffrent boars and only get meat off one and the other gives you every bit that you need? But it's taken me less time scrounging for pouch upgrades after doing these.
The epic/purple, delta sharpshot bow, uses regular precision arrows. Which are relatively cheap(er) to craft. The legendary, Forgefall sharpshot bow however only uses advanced precision arrows. Which require volatile sludge to craft. These are not cheap and not easy to bulk up on mid-game. Making upgrading epic variants most definitely worth it. The same could be said about the Tenakth Recon set vs the Tenakth Tactician. The epic variant comes innately with machine damage and health. (The legendary version however does not.) Which are arguably the two primary stats, even for an acid clawstrider build. Allowing you to use two weaves of your own choice, or one with the +2 elemental damage. In my view making the epic variant superior. I'm sure there're other examples.
@joraptor So how early would you say that you can buy the BEST armour and weapons in the game? I want to max myself out (if possible) before doing the last missions. Keep up helpful the content!
Also, I thought all legendaries come from quests. And man, I haven't enjoyed a racing game in years. Auto-keep-up and having some badass combat in it was fun. Still hate racing games in general. Always in the back at the start, always gotta come in 1st place to progress.
But what about Marechal hunter bow unique purple weapon that you gain in the arena with medals ? And it's unique rage ability and coils ? Think this one worth it ?
That was very helpful already wasted some time on purples not knowing about levendary. Small friendly advice: Im assuming youre dutch. 'Armor' is pronounced like the dutch word for poorer. "Armer" instead of "armòr".
broo on me when i was diving (EARLY) in the game i was trying to discovered some hidden ancient treasure and i couldnr because how deep the dive was i was like ahhhhhh i think i need a mouth piece or something because it basically impossible to hold your breathe for that long -___- thanks for this upload!
To your knowledge is there any hunter bow that has shock ammo aside from the one at the arena? (which btw could you tell me how you completed the encounter of the two triceratops in under 1:30 min, I'm UNABLE to kill them jaja) Y have a blue light bow but I dislike that weapon
I keep wondering do you need to scan every single variations of the enemies cause I was checking and those annoying small machines need like 10 different variations
I don't think JorRaptor is really a raptor. His English is very good and he plays videogames with a controller. Not sure if raptors can do that with their raptory hands and vocal cords but it made me think.
its important to say but for the last part, the story is better if you choose the heart, and there is a legendary sharpshot bow you can get from the arena so personally i would say do the heart instead of the fist
Should I just avoid upgrading green? I’m on very hard so I feel I need whatever I can get. I’ve been fully upgrading weapons cause they so far and few where I’m at now
good thing I finnished the game without buying anything, only earning legendaries through the way Plus i had every champion token legendary item on my ps4, but now on my ps5 i have to restart. Good thing I really know what to do now
there is actually a weapon class that doesn't have a legendary variant, and that is the ropecaster class. although ig it could technically count as a boltblaster?
Correct me if I’m wrong Jordan but the idea behind this title (and most open world action RPG’s for that matter) is to spend time destroying the enemies and collecting the spoils and in turn upgrading every piece of kit you can. If you’re going to rush through the game and go for the Legendary weapons and gear straight away it kind of spoils the flow of the game and not mention pretty much over powers you. 60 hours in a game of this size and scope to platinum is disappointing I was expecting at least double that it sounds as though you may have rushed just a little. I believe you spent a lot more time in Zero Dawn. Remember you’ll never get to experience this for the first time again. I’ve just started the game on the PS5 and art style and beauty of the landscapes and the machines for that matter make me actually stop and admire it every so often. I think my route to Platinum, as with the previous game will take a lot longer and I’m happy about that
This reminds me of how I got a Plasma Boltcaster (which I used to take out a [REDACTED]) and a Shock Boltcaster. Only then to find a Plasma/Shock/Frost Boltcaster.
Its a really good game, im playing its right now and the tip about creating the jobs for the wepons ots really good. I will do the jons from now on and every machine i encounter will check for anu parts that i need. The legendary armors are quite hard to get.
If there is an update they need to include altitude markers. It's so frustrating not knowing whether or not something is above me or below me, whether or not something is special gear blocked, having to figure out these infuriating platforming puzzles because pathfinding isn't helping navigate.
Go to settings and change waypoint and quest path both to guided instead of explorer and also the compass at the top will say if a cave enterance or something requires a tool you don't have yet
Not a big problem i enjoy farming the bigger machines so just takes longer however i enjoy just farming all of them only issue i have atm is the big turtle and thunderjaw because my gear is "not good" atm, it takes a long time to grind them down.
The tips in this video are so bizarre. Completely ignoring the fact that his purple bow with its upgrades managed to get him that far in the game, far enough so that he could replace it with a legendary weapon and now suddenly hid purple weapon was now a waste of time? So bogus lmao.

"Don't upgrade anything except for very early/late/end/post-game stuff, ignore and outright avoid upgrading literally anything blue or purple more than/even once, hoard resources like a pack rat and never use them until you're kitted out in full legendary gear and can stage-dive a thunderjaw."
Yeah cause i'm gonna deliberately gimp myself and give the enemies a significant handicap against myself.
Luckily, this is gaming, not practicing medicine.
So many people say “complete all the races, it’s not that hard and doesn’t take that long.” Meanwhile I’m here completely unable to come close to winning a single race.
enable auto mount sprinting...make it much easier.
Thanks for tips mate
The gauntlets are really rather strong. Just have a slight learning curve.
Use the knockdown arrow skill for small enemies. It's free 1 shot kill arrows
What skill is that
@@pravond middle tree infiltrator
Ok. Quite decent but still not skilled enough
You cover all the games I play, and even when I don't learn anything new, you always entertain and give great info.
Thanks raptor :)
2022 delivering after an absolute shithouse 2021.
From all the videos I’ve seen Dying Light 2 looks just like the first 🤔
@@freewithnature idk what you’ve been watching buts it’s improved in almost every single way just a bit buggy rn tho
I save resource materials by frosting everything and using an impact spear to do all the damage. It’s hella fun, hella cheap, hella fast and hella safe to kill monsters with. Kind of an OP combo tbh 🤣🤣🤣
but frost and spears take some of the rarest materials to craft 🤔
@@hankscorpion so use a frost blast sling or regular frost arrows…
Also another good tip is dont play the arenas past the second one it will spoil some monsters and first 2 section u can pretty much get a orange armor
So you can open how many arenas in the game?
I like JorRaptor's voice a lot lol, this guy sounds like the buddy u need and yes I intend to play smartly learning from ur vids :)
Thanks Nero haha
I actually found that upgrading the purple gear is easier to do, gold is better but harvesting the parts needed is a little harder and unnecessary especially if you’re not into repetitive grinds that can be frustrating.
I'm sure this will get buried but bro...you're such a great resource for tips and tricks without spoilers. You are appreciated so much! Glad to be back and have you back for the sequel!!!
Thanks so much! RUclips has revolutionised how we play games. These tips are invaluable. Thanks again.
Thanks for watching
I love JorRaptor's content, especially how he delivers it, but man does this guy love the word "totally" 🙄
Just jumped back on it. Thanks for giving us notice 👍🏽
Hey Jor, dont get me wrong the legendary weapons are amazing but a lot of those weapons require volatile sludge which most machines don't drop.
craft ammo at workbench for volatile sludge requiring types , and unlock workbench expert skill for making ammo more cheaply try to use mostly hunter arrows on the run against normal machines
I was swimming in volatile sludge
Regalla's Wrath upgraded fully with some good coils has made it my strongest weapon in the game. Using it with the cloaking valor and braced shot hits so hard.
What difficulty are you playing on? I’m on ‘normal’ but barely died so far. I just entered No Man’s Land, so I’m not too far in. Will it get harder or should I crank up the difficulty? I’m looking for a fun time, nothing Souls like, but a little challenge is fine.
I’m on the hardest difficulty, I definitely recommend it, makes you more focused on boosting your gear and stats
Deff play on hard at least normal is too easy
@@deanmohan do u upgrade ur purple or blues? Or do u buy them all bro? Cause I don’t know what to do
It will get much harder towards the end normal felt like Dark Souls to me.
Ok I had to choose between Elden ring or forbidden West a year ago.... I was really invested in fromsoft so I got Elden ring. That being Said I had the platinum in horizon zero dawn and absolutely love the game. I have a big family so I am limited on funds...but thanks to playstation plus premium I now am a proud owner of forbidden West!! I'm so excited to get the plat for it too. I love your vids been a sub for a couple years now and your content has helped so so much!! Thank you very much
Bro I love ur channel whenever ps+ uploads a new game first thing I do is search ur channel
Till now I have watched all of your Horizon Forbidden West videos🙌🙌 This game is so Amazing and I never get bored of it 🔥🔥🙌 Keep up the Good work bro🤙🤙🤗
Thanks a lot Yash!
thanks for getting me to give the warrior bows another try, they're great!
How do you get that legendary warrior bow? Thought you said do all the races but it only looks like there’s one. I do have something that says get the van garden hunter bow but I was looking for that legendary warriors bow.
I said it before I will say it again: just picture adept/ ng+ versions of this stuff. Well if they add them anyways.
That's what I'm literally looking forward to😭
Same, but highly doubt they'll made the legendary weapons have an adept versions because they already have 5 mod slots
I've been watching since the zero dawn days keep it up man
Yes the first one, honestly the amount of gronding needed to upgrade everything ruins the possibility of variety in this game.
Sharpshooters bows are awsome.
@@gryu325 thank you! Appreciate the help and tips
when it comes to upgrades would the best idea to just replace all gear and weapons with the next tier, so from green to blue to purple etc. and just upgrade legendary?
1st part of your video is true, I need to stop wasting time upgrading blue/green weapons and armour, maybe halfway if I have the parts but apart from that I will wait for legendaries before I waste money and resources on lower tier weapons + armour
What pouch do you have to upgrade in the game to increase the amount of health plans you can carry to you know quickly replenish your health if you don't have potions? Thanks
To upgrade your health plan you will have to unlock Obama care. That’s only available in the DLC: Horizon Forbidden Left.
Grateful for the advice, but I do plan on playing this game many times. All things to learn as I go.
Critical strike when down is r1
as much as i am grateful that your one of the only content creators for this game i can get info i need from.
id have much appreciated you not showing the endgame in your beginner tutorial videos.
you have spoiled over 6 machine types i didnt know existed. im not cranky about it, its much more about the hunt for me.
but i think the ratio between whats cool and what to show in a video should have correlated to the area your making a tutorial for.
per instance, mistakes you can make, nothing of this video should have shown endgame places creatures or equipment.
I had no idea about about the armor,. Is there any good armors to unlock all the way for the best mods?
Can you apply face paint in normal gameplay? Or is it just for photo mode? I’m getting these face paints I wanna use them
I don't understand? Don't upgrade your weapon because you *might* find a better weapon later at some point maybe. ...but how do you know if and when you'll find a better weapon? And when do you know when you have a weapon that *is* worth upgrading??
I’m 25 hours in and I’m loving this game so much
I dont know if the developer put it as easter egg or it was a glitch but looking for Goose loot for upgrade really befitting the the terms "chasing goose".It would fly even if you are far away from it and even the loot dissapear if you didnt manage grab it fast enough after shooting it.
@joraptor
So how early would you say that you can buy the BEST armour and weapons in the game? I want to max myself out (if possible) before doing the last missions.
Keep up helpful the content!
Also, I thought all legendaries come from quests. And man, I haven't enjoyed a racing game in years. Auto-keep-up and having some badass combat in it was fun. Still hate racing games in general. Always in the back at the start, always gotta come in 1st place to progress.
But what about Marechal hunter bow unique purple weapon that you gain in the arena with medals ? And it's unique rage ability and coils ? Think this one worth it ?
I so appreciate you bro!! You saved me so much time.
This game came out a few days ago. You're a beast.
I got the armor but i want that bow is there anything i can do to acquire bow?
Glad to have this game and you my friend
That was very helpful already wasted some time on purples not knowing about levendary. Small friendly advice: Im assuming youre dutch. 'Armor' is pronounced like the dutch word for poorer. "Armer" instead of "armòr".
broo on me when i was diving (EARLY) in the game i was trying to discovered some hidden ancient treasure and i couldnr because how deep the dive was
i was like ahhhhhh i think i need a mouth piece or something because it basically impossible to hold your breathe for that long -___- thanks for this
upload!
To your knowledge is there any hunter bow that has shock ammo aside from the one at the arena? (which btw could you tell me how you completed the encounter of the two triceratops in under 1:30 min, I'm UNABLE to kill them jaja) Y have a blue light bow but I dislike that weapon
Can always count on you man. Thanks 👍
Appreciate it!
Thank you for the tips!
GRRRRR
Another amazing video. Huge thanks !
Play how you want ,immerse yourself in the game and enjoy it ,not how some youtube guy is telling you how to play it
its important to say but for the last part, the story is better if you choose the heart, and there is a legendary sharpshot bow you can get from the arena so personally i would say do the heart instead of the fist
thanks for some more great Tips And Tricks
Should I just avoid upgrading green? I’m on very hard so I feel I need whatever I can get. I’ve been fully upgrading weapons cause they so far and few where I’m at now
good thing I finnished the game without buying anything, only earning legendaries through the way
Plus i had every champion token legendary item on my ps4, but now on my ps5 i have to restart.
Good thing I really know what to do now
Every weapon type has a legendary? Is there a legendary ropecaster? Because i havent found one so far.
there is actually a weapon class that doesn't have a legendary variant, and that is the ropecaster class. although ig it could technically count as a boltblaster?
I think my route to Platinum, as with the previous game will take a lot longer and I’m happy about that
So does the game ever run out of greenshine? Is there enough to fully upgrade everything?
This reminds me of how I got a Plasma Boltcaster (which I used to take out a [REDACTED]) and a Shock Boltcaster. Only then to find a Plasma/Shock/Frost Boltcaster.
Its a really good game, im playing its right now and the tip about creating the jobs for the wepons ots really good. I will do the jons from now on and every machine i encounter will check for anu parts that i need. The legendary armors are quite hard to get.
This game's addictive as hell, I haven't been able to put it down since I got it
sleep deprivation on a next level :D
Great info, thanks!
it's amazing watching your videos covering this game.
super useful!
and it brings me back to your Horizon Zero Dawn videos :p
Thanks!
Upgrading the weapon you have at the time is not a waste UNTIL you get the better weapon
Haven’t gotten any legendaries yet. Do they have special perks?
Not a big problem i enjoy farming the bigger machines so just takes longer however i enjoy just farming all of them only issue i have atm is the big turtle and thunderjaw because my gear is "not good" atm, it takes a long time to grind them down.
just go on the big rock above it and shoot of its weapons, literally cant even touch you
Great vid
I mainly use shredder guantlets cuz I like the fact that I can catch it and reuse the ammo
Is there any tearblast arrows in this? I’ve been looking around merchants and can’t seem to find anyone who sells the bow for them
You get it from a main mission (broken sky)
@@JorRaptor thanks :)
Dude I just learned this the hard way last night....
I'm more then a little disappointed to learn that I spent so much time upgrading the wrong items.
The tips in this video are so bizarre. Completely ignoring the fact that his purple bow with its upgrades managed to get him that far in the game, far enough so that he could replace it with a legendary weapon and now suddenly hid purple weapon was now a waste of time?
So bogus lmao.
