I once called up my favorite design store asking specifically for Verner Panton furniture and they said they had never made replicas of it. The store is Barcelona Designs by the way. Great replicas of Panton are so, so hard to find.
My 1973 Herman Miller Verner Panton chair just cracked along the ribs today. 50 years old. Plastics degrade over time. Ordered a set of glossy 2 black and 2 white chairs off of Amazon. Maybe plastic is not a good sustainable choice for longevity?
People spray new paint on the Originals too, so saying it is a fake is not always the case, though may devalue them a little. Majority of the time finding these originals from the sixties will show a fair lot of wear, so would you not refurbish them with a good spray paint job, or would you suggest they be dumped or destroyed? Also did Vitra relaunch these copies of the original without the verner panton embossed logo?
basf made them before vitra got the license to build them. There's a few of them around. I've got one from pre vitra era.

Aren't the embossed logos a new thing? I once had an authentic Panton chair and I thought that it was fiberglass.
