What an informative video, I had no idea that there were so many points to look at to identify an original Swan or Egg chair as I have not had the opportunity to inspect one first-hand. I am now also armed with enough information about how a fibreglass chair is upholstered to feel like I can attempt the re upholstery of a mid-century chair I own - to be clear, it's not a copy of either of these. Thank you!
The registration feature is for the event of a thief stealing your chair. If stolen you can register it to Fritz Hansen so the police and Fritz Hansen can notify you if they discover a chair that is missing.
+Kristian Brandt I agree with you here, I don't see either how you can lose a chair of this size/value. I think the speaker means to adress the issue as if the chair were stolen.
+Jensen Zack Actually you'd be surprised how much architect drawn furniture recides in common Danish homes. My grandmother had the Egg once and threw it out because the leather was torn... That's rigth, she threw out... The Egg!!!! It's one of those family tales she just can't escape XD
+Kristian Brandt Wow - that sounds like a bad day to have to by mistake throwing out an Egg-chair. I assume you must be Danish - I am too, so I can understand how you feel about throwing out a piece of Classic Danish furniture...even by mistake.
Its rather ridiculous how the Bauhaus idea - which obviously inspired all these designs - is perverted. It was meant to be a concept for everyone and not an elitist status object.
@@ZnenTitan It's not made of fiberglass. It has a solid metal body. Then foam. I have 2 swans and an egg, inherited from my parents. Their swivel is quite unique, trust me.
The swans are very comfortable, but they like to swivel, I just let it go around as it needs to, quite fun while having coffee. The egg chair is actually a bit uncomfortable and needs a large pillow to keep your body from curving inwards so much. But my kids would lay across them and fall sound asleep in the egg.
Egg chair, Swan chair, I think that what we can all agree on is that the discussion around originals can be just too harmful. Why can't we just appreciate the furniture? I've gotten lots of replicas from online stores (mainly Manhattan Home Design), and I don't regret any of them. Haven't had the chance to buy a Swan chair but it's definitely on the list.
To have an original piece is great if you can handle the required budget for that. If you don't, you don't have to suffer. Barcelona Designs has the best renditions of the market. Just like the original design it feature its tilt and swivel control and it has the best aniline leather, creating an egg chair truly loyal to the original design.

+Jensen Zack Yeah I understood that much. Still don't understand how you lose a chair though.

@@MiauZi69 Over 8000 dollars for something made of fiberglass and plastic foam. (And a copy won't swivel like an original? Are you kidding me!?)

Are these chairs really comfortable to sit in ?

No the reason is that it's a very famous chair. H&M is just as easy to copy as Burberry. See?
