  • Now it's finally time to talk about one of our absolute favorite designers of all time - Verner Panton! The two mentors Poul Henningsen and Arne Jacobsen taught him a lot, but when creating an aesthetic of his own Panton chose a path different to all other Danish designers. Clean and traditional lines just wasn't his thing. Follow us into a world of psychedelic interiors and space-age furniture!

Thank you for making this video. It's strange there isn't a lot of info on Panton out there. Even most books are out of print. Wild.

there are more versions of cone chairs also. the plus linge is a hair smaller than the rest and uses round white feet. jebruder nehl did them and switched to black feet with metal wire seat cushion, then frem rojle took over with wood cushion and then switched to fiberglass by vitra.
there is also 11 more cone chairs from 1994 made by Polythema including solid acrylic models.
panton was not the first fully plastic one piece chair, canada did it first through a man named aj donahue. ive already contacted verpan over that.

Thanks a lot for all the information, very helpful indeed. When it comes to the plastic chair by Donahue. Was it really put into serial production. If not one can still claim Panto was first developing a one-piece plastic chair put into production. There were indeed several attempts and prototypes produced before that though.

Kjaerholm should have patented his design. I believe he deserves partial credit for this. I do agree that bringing a design to mass production is half the battle but Kjaerholm clearly had the design first.

Yeah, this is an interesting issue. Kjaerholm, and most certainly Aaagaard Andersen as well, had already developed the actual shape of the chair. Panton was the one who managed to put it into serial production, but all three should possibly be mentioned as involved in the design process.

@@ScandinavianDesign101 aj donahue in canada did the first fully one piece plastic chair, not panton.
