In Romeo and Juliet on a quiz I put “he makes himself an artificial night” as a metaphor and got it wrong lord montage said that can anyone explain why it is wrong and not a metaphor because I might talk to the teacher about it

I’m guessing it might be because it means he is making himself a very dark room shutting all window and stuff but I’m thinking it has a more depressed meaning that Romeo is depressed I thought that is what it was implying, so can anyone help
