    I have to T1000-4 and T600-4 and love them very much. They have never gone into protection but my T1500-1 has over heated and needs to be vented decently. These 3 amps together make any car sound like a concert.

    I have been driving since 92. My first amplifiers were my Rockford Fosgate 200a4 and my 301S... I still have them both and use them every day. They have been in countless vehicles and still sound as amazing as the day they were new. I recently added the Prime 1200-1D to my pickup and I have to say, all the years later and Rockford Fosgate is still every bit as good! Very happy! I am an SQ guy. Always have been.

    Great upload man!!! If there was ever a complaint I had on Rockford amps, it would be the excessive amounts of thermal paste used. They put so much on there, makes repairs take forever, especially if you have to remove it all and reapply your own. Other than that, Rock on 🤘🏽 Rockford!!!

    So which amps are better out of the R2 500.4 Prime Class-D amps vs these 400.4 power series-AB? Great video.

    • @JasonWW2000
      @JasonWW2000 Год назад +1

      Both of them seem really solid. The 500.4 is probably going to give you a little more power while drawing less current compared to the 400.4. If both of them have all the features that you're looking for and physically fit in the place you want to mount it, just go with the one that you like the most. A few differences I see is that the 400.4 is quite a bit larger in size and it does have steeper crossover slopes than the 500.4. There's also a difference in price.

    Ace ace ace! Been looking for a video coving this for ages! Ok….here is my question:
    If you have 4x50w amp and you only use 2 of the 4 channels, does this mean you have slightly more power on these used channels given the decreased stress on the power supply??
    The reason I ask is, in AV, they rate 2 channels driven because when all channels are driven the output of each is significantly reduced. So, by contrast, if you only used 2 of 4 on a multi channel amp, do you get a bit more power from the amp??
    This is not a question about bridging the amp, just about leaving 2 channels unconnected like when using an AV amp in stereo, will you get more power?

    • @HifiVega
      @HifiVega  2 года назад

      Yes you typically get a bit more power when all channels aren’t driven because it’s less stress on the power supply. In my experience it is not a huge difference maybe like a 10% gain

    Hey Hifi! Great video, as always. Thanks for testing this "Older" model Fosgate amps! I don't have a T400-4 amp, but I do have a P400-4 amp, which sounds awesome, and loud. I bought it refurb for $189, on Crutchfiield, years ago!
    On a side note, I have a question for someone like you, who knows a lot on this subject... Can I test a P10002 amp (2006), which has a 160amp fuse, with a 35 amps Power Supply? I don't have a car now, to test it! Will I blow the Power Supply, or damage the amp, if I do so?
    Thanks for your expert advice.

    • @chuckmiller5763
      @chuckmiller5763 4 года назад

      You can test the amp to see if it powers up, KEEP THE VOLUME LOW. That power supply will not power that amp well. Your 35 amp power supply is only going to allow you to output about 380 watts. You will most likely blow the 35 amp fuse. There is a slim chance you could damage the mosfets in the amp's power supply.

    • @HifiVega
      @HifiVega  4 года назад +1

      You can test for functionality for sure, but like Chuck said you should do that only and not try to play it on the PS.

    • @chuckmiller5763
      @chuckmiller5763 4 года назад

      Now, you could put a car battery between the amp and the power supply and get some volume that way. The battery will not charge fast on that power supply so dont play the amp too long, let the power supply charge the battery.

    • @charlesbolano7148
      @charlesbolano7148 4 года назад

      chuck Miller Thanks for the advice! I just plan on testing it, and playing it a little at low volume, to see how it sounds. Do you think I can damage the P.S. or the amp, just by powering on the amp? That's my main concern! I've played a P5002 amp without problems, but it only has a 60 amp fuse, not a 160 amp fuse, like the P10002 amp.
