The local CBS station must have brought in shirtless & toothless hillbillies to interview because those folks wouldn’t be able to afford that area of town.

I'm Ohio born and bred, but like a woman I moved from Jamaica, Queens to Cleveland told me "You must be from down south. Down south? I'm from Ohio. To which she replied You must be from southern Ohio", due to my *accent*. I couldn't fire back at her because, I am indeed, from southern Ohio. Still don't think I have an *accent*, though. Be that as it may, I didn't start this comment for my accent (or lack thereof). I wanna tell ya about Frank Spruill's accent. Frank was also a professional mover, and had moved to Ohio from Alabama. Yes, friends and neighbors...Frank did indeed have an accent. We would show up for the move, and Frank would shake hands with the customer and say "My name's Frank...don't let the accent fool ya." 😎

I found that North Carolina and South Carolina have different accents. Some from S.C. sound similar to South Louisiana, my home state.

Lots of awesome southern people. But in fairness, southern people are much less educated on average, and much less informed about basic facts, compared to the rest of the country. It’s also the last region to accept every piece of moral progress throughout the history of the US, from abolition to women’s rights to corporal punishment to gay rights.
