To be fair, they didn't have Simon explain or show what he's playing, nor did he transcribe the song for them. They had musicians sitting down and listening and transcribing the song. How far off are they in Rocksmith? I haven't played it yet. Just getting back into the game recently. What about the other Biffy songs in the game?
@nedim_guitar I actually just compared how Simon plays it compared to how Rocksmith teaches it and it's NOT far off at all. Song is in Drop d, half step down, so Drop Db, I guess The opening Bbm chord I don't remember being voiced as a barred chord in the chart with the top F being played, and the arpeggio he plays isn't in the chart, but like he says. that's a piano part. The verse is actually spot on to Rocksmith, though the second half Rocksmith does have a Lead and Rhythm, so if you play lead, you're letting chords ring out instead of continuing to staccato chords. Rocksmith uses a different chord to get into the chorus instead of that chorus pinky chord (Ab/C) second part of the chorus is all spot on, hanging on the Ab the whole time with the pinky. The Outro, as Simon calls it is different in the RockSmith chart. Simon is voicing the Bbm and Ab on the 9th and 7th frets while Rocksmith voices it on the Ab string using the standard chord shapes. The following Db and Gbadd2 are both beautiful and stupidly hard to pull off, but Rocksmith nails what Simon is doing here. THEN, this is where rocksmith gets it wrong, they go back to an Open Ab and Db, whereas Simon is playing that chorus Ab/C shape again with the pinky, and leaving the pinky on Ab over an open Db I like Simon's way much better.
