Sweeeeeet. One of my all time favorite Boz Scaggs tunes. I love seeing Matt Bissonette on bass. We were in college together. So good to see him after all these years. I miss him.
he sure is a cool cat..this was our music! after used to and loved the 60's music in our teens, this music in the late 70's/ early 80's was something we got excited for.. again..
When I first heard this tune, with its urban sleekness and rhythmic composition, that it reminded me of something Isaac Hayes would write, a la Shaft. I couldn't believe it was written by Boz. A classic tune still worth its money today.
On this day in 1976 {September 25th} Boz Scaggs performed "Lowdown" on the NBC-TV program 'Saturday Night Live'... Two months earlier on July 4th it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #3 and spent 22 weeks on the Top 100... It reached #28 on the U.K. Singles chart... The song won the 1976 Grammy Award for 'Best Rhythm & Blues Song'... Mr. Scaggs, born William Royce Scaggs, celebrated his 69th birthday three months ago on June 8th...
Damn!!!! Boz still has it!!!! That dirty LOWDOWN!!!! And the backup chicks are really kicking butt with this tune! I love Boz, I remember jamming to it in 1976!!!!!! Thanks so much for posting this live, amen. I appreciate it!!!!!
I just love this guy, I saw these guys perform couple of times at Demetris jazz Club in Seattle. It was so chill and so cool the same time! I also saw him on the water front in Seattle with the backdrop of the Puget Sound,on a beautiful summer night one of my favorite memories. Thanks for the memories Boz!
I remember my 20's... Great music, great performer, song writer and arranger! Thanks Bozz for your music, you did a very good job! I grew up in South America listening and having a lot of fun with your songs! Yo recuerdo mis 20's... Estupenda musica, tremendo cantante, compositor y arreglista. Gracias Bozz por tu musica, hiciste un trabajo espectacular! Yo creci en Suramerica escuchando y disfrutando tus canciones!
Saw Boz Scaggs Feb 17, 2011 at Stafford Centre, Stafford, Texas. What a show! Miss Monet still has those pipes-could she ever hit the notes! Boz played all the favs especially "Lowdown".....My fav was "Loan Me A Dime"- a 14 minute version---did he and the lead guitarist rock! If you get a chance to see Boz do it!
Nothing but outstanding , this guy blows the shit out of any this of this shit in the charts, Top man and respect to a guy who's been here for over 38 years, i love him and his music !!!!!!
I always liked Boz Scaggs. I saw him a few times back in the seventies. Always had a strong voice and put on a great show. He still looks and sounds great. As to Real singers, real instruments, real talent. What has happened? It is simple most of the real talent came out of the sixties and the seventies. That is when musicians and the bands took the time to learn their craft and write some nice, interesting, music. Everybody wants to be an overnight star today. Three chord crap and noise. MG RI
I was in my teens when Boz was the real boss.So cool, always a great dresser. woman love him.All that said ,Boz could sing ,play and wrote great songs.I was in the market and Lowdown comes on. I saw people actually shuffling and singing to this song.We had great music back in 70"s,80"early 90"s. Today's stuff doesn't have any of what we had. Closest to getting into your soul; check out Chris Stapleton.
Every time I hear this I am back to my 20's driving to the beach with my Girlfriend in my old Chevy!... The World was our Oyster and felt so carefree and Cool living the dream... 😪
It was the 70's...I was working my first art dept. job....she was one beautiful woman and I had the world by the tail.....great song and time in my life!!!!! Thanks!

Saw Boz at the Palais Theatre Melbourne Australia this week and he and his band were excellent playing a very blues based style. Lowdown was a highlight.
My sister was like 9 years older then me and I remember her bringing this album home from college when I was like in 5th grade. He really aged gracefully. Good music
I was 16 when 'Moments' came out. I was into punk by the time this came out so I missed it. Many years later, I just love everything this guy did in the '70s. 'Moments' is still one of my favorite records. But then, so is 'Never Mind the Bullocks'...
Boz got me through University 1976-79,listened to this late into the night doing my dissertation or writing to my girlfiend Julie...happy days ,thank you Boz.
As I clicked like, I couldn't help noticing the dislikes. Who dislikes this? I remember a Mr. Show skit that parodied him, which I would think probably did more to turn people on to him. When you've got it you've got it, and few artists sound this great live.
16 it was a sunny day in july i was working on my ford maverik my girlfriend and her friend came by, my girl and i eventualy worked our way into my bedroom turned on the stereo passions ran high thank you Boz.
Smooth, refined and sophisticated...I think this was at Boz' club, south of Market (SOMA) in San Francisco...He and Michael McDonald are going to have a concert here in Honolulu, March 2010...'
This is the best version of this song hands down, be it studio version or any live version, this live video version rocks. Checkout that sweet thick sista Barara Wilson a.k.a Skyler Jordan singing back up for boz, she is so damn fine.
Just listen to that sound, that guitarsolo, watch the drummer enjoy and thinking: "Who am I that I may play this lowdown rhythm?" Life is beautiful!

Is that Gregg on Drums?
He's just the King of Understated Cool, lounging in front of his mic, singing so uniquely yet casually as if he's having a conversation. Cool cat.
He is most definitely cool and smooth as butter! I am a long time fan! I'm 70 years old and still dancing to his music.
