What a year 1984 was for the city of Liverpool. Ocean Rain was released, Liverpool won the league, league cup and European cup, Everton won the FA cup, Frankie Goes To Hollywood we’re number 1 for half the year and The gig at St George’s Hall was one of the greatest in music history.
Don't know why so much hate for jools Holland, always liked the bloke myself.. He's a great musician, was in the legendary squeeze & asks all relevant questions.. I'd have thought most bands would prefer being interviewed by him rather than some journo from a rag like the nme who'd find it hard work getting a tune out of a kazoo.. Anyway great to see this again rip Pete de freitas..
Went to this! I'm on the ferry throwing the bananas! Saw them at Buxton, Albert hall, Shakespeare theatre and still watching them gig to this day! The greatest live band ever!!!
i was at this gig at st george's hall just spotted my girlfriend at the time!! great gig!!!!!!! she contacted me after all these yrs.. and sent film of the gig off you tube she was still amazed at the sound in st george's hall and the band!Happy days LA!!
Jools is hilarious. Had forgotten all about this. Watched it at the time and was disappointed virtually no Bunnie's in it but all jools. Still think the same but really enjoyed seeing it again and to actually see Mac laughing is a rare thing.
Fantastic I remember watching this on a Midsommer Tube special great programme made when Channel 4 was something special not like the traash they churn out today, as far as television goes less is more, channels anyway.
Only could understand about 50 % of the commentator's gibberish. Ever notice that interviewers and commentators are always people that talk far too much?
1984 was an amazing year for great bands

The Bunnymen onto their way to be a superpower. Tragedy they stumbled. In my book, the greatest of them all.

Great to see Victor cut my hair as well as the Pete!

1:16 Pete de Freitas and Les Pattinson
It all seems to be about Holland and not much about the Bunnymen
Turn the captions on, it's hilarious. It's all nonsense about "crime and violence" and "violence and fear"
