    I really like how the film depicts the four siblings' key traits (I'll only focus on the brothers since their actions were focused on in the battle scenes): Peter's courage sees him instinctively choosing to make his stand against the coming horde despite his lack of military training and being vastly outnumbered; Edmund's wit has him instantly identifying Jadis' wand as the most important thing and completely focusing his attacks against it, ultimately robbing Jadis of her most potent weapon.
    Also, both encompassed one of the noblest aspects of being a king: "a king does not flee". A true leader leads by example. Both had the conviction to push forward even in the face of overwhelming odds, that act alone demonstrated that, despite their young age, they were fit for the title of "king".

    • @Syrdanus
      @Syrdanus 2 года назад +22

      To be fair, Peter had no other option than to hold his ground after his unicorn was killed - a mere human cant outrun the minotaurs, tigers and others. He was in the last line when fell, so there was no one to help him. In his situation there were only two options - the last valiant stand to help others escape or brake in tears and fear of death. But still... they had planned to retreat into that vale - Jadis had her all forces there and she herself were basically on the frontline.... Why they didnt focus their defenses on the vales walls and had their archers fire barages on them, the low number centaur cavalry should be more than efective there to crush them under their hooves, or use that phoenix arrow to just burn them? There were so many options...

      I see people all around the world asking this question, answer is simple, life has got so fast, you used to blink in 2000 and one second passed, now you blink and half an hour is gone, life is so much faster now, nobody is even thinking about creating something incredible that will usually take much longer, if you create something, it's for the quick buck. it's same with books, movies, tv shows (well those were shitty always, but nowdays everything that comes out you can see it follows it's predecessor, nothing original, nothing difficult to understand) cars, phones, everything you can think of. You go to an restaurant, and the menu is filled of food that takes short time to make, doesn't matter how prestigious the restaurant is, you play a game, there are 3 battle passes that you need to purchase if you want any chance to compete, you buy a phone with 1 little detail changed and it costs 40% more than the previous version. You buy a modern car, it need service once per 3 months, you buy 69' impala and it holds together from grandpa to grandson with little to no care. etc. examples could be talked about for hours. point is, why would you put the work in, when average (stupid) human will give you the same money if it's faster but worse, speed is what makes money, not art or charisma or talent

    That entire shot at 3:16 perfectly captures my favorite aspect about the Narnian battles, the amount of creative detail that goes into the individual fighters. Unlike most movie battles where, it's one group of people or one species verses another species, each of the Narnian armies have nearly two dozen of their own various soldiers, and they all fight differently.
    And for that whole 3 second shot, you can see everyone fighting in their own unique ways.
    Peter fighting against a minotaur with an axe, swinging heavily at him, then a boggle tries to attack him from behind, and swings his hatchet at him the WRONG WAY in an attempt to knock him out.
    A centaur is carrying a minotaur to the left, and he turns around in time to knock out a werewolf with his horse legs.
    You have a faun to the right who's surrounded by a minotaur and a mino-boar, but he does a roundhouse kick to psych one of them our and stumble backwards, right before he challenges the minotaur one on one.
    And then theres a dwarf that ambushes the distracted mino-boar by jumping onto his back.
    You see another mino-boar defeating a faum by judo flipping him.
    A satyr goes up to a minotaur head-butting him, and they go swinging at each other.
    A wold comes rushing in but is attacked by a bear, but the bear is ambushed by a minotaur who had just killed a satyr.
    A dog is rushing after an ogre
