I own 3 Diawa reels and I really, really like them. Bought the 2500 FM last week and I’ll tell you…it’s stunning!! Forget about wind knots! Soooo smooth and balanced. Bluegill have no chance! Just kidding, I live in Naples Florida. The variety of species I’ve caught, both inshore and in lakes and ponds, is quite diverse. Try pairing it up with a Bull Bay rod. Very, very happy!
I have used all kinds of high reels from daiwas and Shimano low end to Stella and after a long day of fishing schools after schools of jumbo 3lb to 7lb white bass the only reel that didn't give up on me was that high-end reel, the Shimano Stella. Broke many stradics and ballistics. If you do light to moderate fishing stradic is the way to go. If you fish a ton it's worth investing into the Stella build like a tank, will last you forever.
like the FL more after my one outing of the FM. dumb how Shimano made the handle smaller on the FM too ie. the 4000 FL handle is bigger than the 4000 FM
👏.about sound drag i can tell you i like more the sound drag of the FL model (if i put spare spool of the stradic fl to fm is good, i like it. The sound drag of fm is ok but i like more the sound of FL or vanford (is a little louder). In future i try to change the sound drag of the fm if is possible.anyway i love stradic my expectation from the New fm is to be durable like stradic. Sorry for my english 😅🔨🐟🔨
This might be the reason I can't get my Vanford (6months) and Stradic fixed. Don't get me wrong, I really like these reels but my next reel is going to be a Sahara. Having no clear timeline when parts will come in has reduced my reel inventory to fish.

Im heading over to Reddit right now to see if I can find a code. If I find one I will post it.
I got my c3000, drag sound is weaker than my 19 stradic, and not very consistent , i.e, first half the turn is louder than second half of the turn, but it's okay, it's a workhorse reel, not very refined.
What's the diverent betwen stradic fm 2500 shg and stradic fm c2500shg? I found the weight was not same. Are the materials was diferent? Can you help to explain??👍👍
“C” means compact. C2500 model is using the 1000 size body. Meanwhile, 2500 model is using the standard 2500 size body. That is why C2500 is lighter. “S” is shallow spool, “Hg” is high gear where both of these does not affect the weight.
Auto bail trip is a horrible feature, that just wont go away until you invest in a higher PP reel. Its terrible for the reel longterm and causes twists.

Stella is miles ahead of the Stradic in terms of weight, more tech features, build quality, smoothness, etc. If I had the choice, I would always get the Stella before any other Shimano model.
Japanese reels still using lesser alloys or same as USA? The drag is certainly 100% weaker on a JAPAN 2500 frame than USA frame. … . That’s indisputable … maybe post a video about what a Compact Japan Shimano frame is … comparing JAPAN Shallow Spool 2500 to USA regular spool 2500 is entirely confusing and really of no utility. (Good luck fishing 100M 4000 FM in FLORIDA. LOL😂
Frame size and line capacity varies with the manufacturer and reel model not with the country but yes typically Japanese brands are smaller, shimano “c” frames are essentially one size smaller for ex C3000 is a 2000size frame with a 3000size spool. USA reels have a more robust design with heavier components so they are arguably stronger but Japanese reels are definitely more finesse. I use Penn reels baitcasting for shark, rays and large species and shimano / diawa for casting lures.
Does yours have a wierd clicking sound when you reel? I bought mines from digitaka as well but it seems odd that theres a click on retrieval even though it feels smooth.
You can literally hear it if you listen closely when he winds the reel at some points in the video. Mine does the same thing. Kinda annoying but when winding under pressure it’s not noticeable. Did you contact shimano?

That can be prevented with some fresh water rinsing and some reel oil on the line roller bearing after heavy salt water use
