I own a Ghibli. Previous owner of Merc CLS, BMW 5 series and Range rover. I had heard about the Maserati Ghibli but not seen too many around in Scotland. This year I was planning to change my car. So I test drove a few cars, one being the Ghibli. The Ghibli was outstanding !!. In every way. It may not be packed with some tech features such as lane change etc,.. but i am not fussed about these. When I drive my priority is a comfortable refined drive, with some pulling power if required. The tech stuff I use is bluetooth, satnav, radio and reverse camera. All these and more is there in the Ghibli luxury. And tell you what, the inside finish is superlative, with excellent leather, big touch screen and minimal buttons. Clean & elegant interior. I am not sure what the chrysler parts bin means...the power window or head light switches look good and are not much different in quality to similar priced cars. The exterior is stunning and the drive is fantastic. Maserati has done a good job maybe not as perfect as the germans, but the car is rather special. For some reason the car has got very poor reviews in the UK....blind obsession with german cars here !!. I drove the new 5 series and E class.. very good but I could not understand why to do the same thing there were many options,...buttons, touch screen and gesture control !! The Benz was even more bewildering. For me car driving should be about driving and not spending hours trying to figure out how to set up the screen !! The car is well appreciated in USA, India, China and Australia as well as Europe. In the UK also it is getting popular slowly. I suspect a lot of people have not driven the car and some folks are maybe a bit envious !!. I have met a few people who own the Ghibli and almost everyone loves the car !. I drive the Ghibli to, after Audi and BMW’s.... and yes, it is also a matter of taste, but I love it! Strangely enough, the most enthousiast reviews come from Germany....
I couldn’t agree more. I’ve owned the Germans, and while being very nice and much more tech oriented, they don’t give me the joy that my Ghibli does. It’s just the perfect balance of elegance and sport imo.
I have owned my petrol Ghibli for about 6 months and I absolutely love it. People are constantly commenting on the looks and it sounds amazing. it is well specced with 21 inch wheels red leather carbon fibre etc. It's an easy choice to buy a similar German vehicle and I am sure they are all very good but if you want something different from the crowd and that always makes you feel special get a good spec one of these.
@@kaustubhnarkar Still got it now! Just had a few jobs that needed doing like discs and pads. Then as a treat had it lowered mapped black pack ceramic coat and wheel spacers. It's like a brand new car 😁
I don't understand. The Maserati is an exotic enthusiasts sedan and MERCEDES and BMW are luxury / consumer sedans. Like comparing a Ferrari to a Corvette.
I just bought a new one Blu Passione color with the Granlusso package and blue leather interiors. This car is the ultimate head turner, I mean I turn myself to look at it because it is truly unbelievable how good this car looks, it surprises me every morning. The sound is simply majestic, in sport mode the gear shifting is phenomenal, I keep the radio switched off at all times to listen to this engine. For sure the best car I have ever owned, will be very hard to beat in the future.
I drove this car last year. it belongs to my friend. Very nice. He asked me to rev it to 5K and shift the gear. Goodness, my heartbeat rev up too. The twin turbo is overwhelming.
you got water on the side of the door, man I wish that was my car...I sat in one of these today and I can honestly say it's the best build quality I've ever seen. It made any Mercedes or BMW seem like a pice of crap, at least in recent years. Unless your in an Aston Martin, this thing is better than most Jaguar and even some Porsches...Cayman.
Hey trouble makers, I'm driving the Maserati Levante S (the SUV) tomorrow and making a video. Are there any questions you want answered or things you want me to check out for you, while I'm there? Richard Berry
what Richard forgot to tell you is how much of a headturner the Ghibli is. Choose a Merc c63 or BMW M3 if you want to be part of rest of the mob, choose a Maserati and you will stick out !
Ilya Elis I have a Maserati Ghibli. and I love it. won't trade with anything ordinary like a BMW or Mercedes. so yes I want to stick out even if it borrows some buttons from a Chrysler.
But you are basically paying for Maserati badge and some Dodge Dart interior parts, in reality M3 is light years ahead in everything. I was tempted to get Quattroporte V8, but reliability is pretty scary
Dino Pappous You have to be kidding......Car values dictate the reliability and maintenance costs. Maserati has always been the worst of them all. My Honda S2000 used to cost more then similar year and miles Quattroporte, today my BMW M235i cost about the same as this Ghibli and drives 100% better.
This is my first time stopping by for channel. I have to say by far this was the best review on RUclips! Excellent video quality, excellent presentation, overall very detailed video so thank you! The only thing I wish you would have added was prices preowned vs. New. I'm making a purchase of Ghibli in the next month or two so in super excited about my upcoming event and once again thanks for the informative video.
A wonderful honest review so wonderful I bought a used Ghibli last night from Santa Monica thank you so much for your input my profession is I am a professional driver so I love the point that you bring out about not as much Electronics in the BMW Mercedes where the driver actually gets to be more in control and that's one of the reasons why I bought.
Well Richard, as I've said before, you could convince me (almost) to buy a, say, Daewoo Lanos. You are that good. But probably not good enough to sell me one of those. Lol. You have changed my perception of Maserati as I am one of those people who thought that Italy had fallen asleep at the wheel. Another great review mate. Cheers.
I drive this car, and you nailed it, period! But you must not compare it to the M3, that’s not it’s competition. That will be left behind by the Alfa Romeo Quadrifoglio. Also an incredible car.
You know what's funny? The switchgear Maserati uses is made from much better plastic and also has chrome accents and rings allover the place, things that the Chrysler counterparts don't. But, such is life... people are trying to find all kinds of stupid reasons why Maserati sucks, just to make the fact they can't afford one easier to accept.
Finally see someone on RUclips who actually enjoyed this car 😂, btw why is my ghibli 2017 so “quiet”? Is it because I have tried sport mode and shift pedal ?
I have some advice for the reviewer whenever you are reviewing a car interior space and demonstrating the rear head and leg space be sure to state your height, it's really frustrating when reviewers don't say their height, it's not that we can guess your height from a video, ppl want to know these info so we can have an idea of the amount of space
Last week I drove this car. My friend own this car. At 3000rpm the car roar. At 6000rpm the car sounded like a lion raring to come out. The experience is just overwhelming.
Good review, thanks! Such a nice car. I just hope that it will soon great a similar grill as Levante and that the S version gets the revised turbo petrol V6 from Levante S(316kw and 580nm).
Cars are like women, you don't need your friends or the people in the streets to like it, you have to like it and that is more than enough. This car has the dimentions of BMW Series 7 and has a sporty touch to it plus italian design on the exterior, if you like it there there is no other car that offers that the same way this car does.
+herrdoktorprofessor - The Ghibli definitely make more sense as a used car but then there are so many other luxury sports cars whose value drops like a stone. In fact, some of them are worse. Just look at an Audi S8 - these lose £30-40k in their first year alone should you try to trade one in. RS7's aren't all that much better either. The BMW M6 Gran Coupe depreciates like a stock market crash...there are dealers offering demonstrators with fewer than 3000 miles for £30k off the list. They can't give these cars away.
Still not worth it yet. C AMG 63 S for the same price offers a V8 505hp. M550i BMW is a second tier V8, which is incredible with spacious room and 456hp. Plus it's also in the same price range. I was hoping this year they would junk the Chrysler parts and put some quality parts in. Cousin drives this, and I wasn't impressed. Though you do get noticed...

Feels special drives special but eccentric as an ever day driver !
+Charlie Newman - Hate to break it to you Charlie but manufactures use cheaper components from basic cars on luxury/sports cars and have done so for decades. Aston Martin, Ferrari, Lamborghini...the list is as long as you're arm.
Hate to break it to YOU, Alex...but just because many do it doesn't make it right. Crap is crap if one manufacturer does it or all of them do it. Accepting it because it's been done for decades is a nice way to reward a con.
ALEX! I'm not saying that others-maybe all-car manufacturers do or don't do it. I don't care. I'm not saying Maserati is or isn't different in this regard. I don't care. None of that has anything to do with right or wrong. Charging more when using pieces that cost less is wrong. Claiming luxury for a car that uses econo-parts is wrong.
It's nothing but FCA spare parts and terrible engineering. The reason why depreciation is really bad after the first 3 years and even more after 5 years.
Oh, so this is from the Fiat Chrysler crowd? Their "f×ck you" attitude to customers once they've got your money, should limit sales of these to about nil. Just have a look around the internet, and you'll discover. Especially in Australia.

the 4200 cabiacorsa was the last real Maserati ferrari 430 engine shared with the ferrari California . this is plastic fantastic with an engine made for the car, not a ferrari engine. some of parts are from the jeep Cherokee, WHAT THE HELL.
It's a beautiful car but it has all kinds of problems mechanically in electrically... it's not worth the money spends more time in the garage and it does driving around and I'm talking to my experience. I have friends who has them I got Brothers who works on them . They're not worth the money at all👎👎👎
Ryan Fowler because nouveau riche folks seemingly care to show off all the wealth they do not have. Sensible folks with wealth don’t buy Maserati vehicles. Unreliable pieces of crap. Brand name is worthless. Luxury is worth the money if you desire it, but even then, Maserati doesn’t excel at that compared to its competitors in the same price range anyway. This car is literally for folks who value brand name over actual quality. A BMW or Mercedes is a better buy than this.

the 4200 cabiacorsa was the last real Maserati ferrari 430 engine shared with the ferrari California . this is plastic fantastic with an engine made for the car, not a ferrari engine. some of parts are from the jeep Cherokee, WHAT THE HELL.
You will regret having so many tattoos one day, unless you belong to the lower social classes, of course..
Not worth it save y'all money
An inch of legroom is.......amazing?
You look like you just got out of jail. And it's not a compliment.

These cars have THEE worst reviewers
It's a beautiful car but it has all kinds of problems mechanically in electrically... it's not worth the money spends more time in the garage and it does driving around and I'm talking to my experience.
I have friends who has them I got Brothers who works on them . They're not worth the money at all👎👎👎
Everyone else hates this car. Dealers are selling it for $10,000 below sticker. How can this guy sing its praises?
Ryan Fowler because nouveau riche folks seemingly care to show off all the wealth they do not have.
Sensible folks with wealth don’t buy Maserati vehicles. Unreliable pieces of crap.
Brand name is worthless. Luxury is worth the money if you desire it, but even then, Maserati doesn’t excel at that compared to its competitors in the same price range anyway.
This car is literally for folks who value brand name over actual quality. A BMW or Mercedes is a better buy than this.
@@theconformist2399 What an idiot statement. You are talking out your arse. Try owning one than a 10 a penny common german car and also know your facts about the brand before looking dumb. Another pretend couch critic with no class.
This guys uptalk is so annoying
Its not that good of a car...believe me .....and yes I currently own a 2017 Ghibli. When opening the trunk it "flings" open ,
thin and uncontrolled ....not smooth like a merc or BMW .....embarrassing when opening the trunk looks like a Honda accord trunk in a $90,000 car ....feels more like a $60,000 car
The touch screen and interface are slow...like molasses....I have owned GTRs 1993, and 2017 , 2011 LP-670 SV, 930 Turbo, 997 turbo 996 turbo , AMG E63, AMG S65, Audi RS5, just to name a few, and built turbo civics when I was a youngster .....Trust me .....get something else.
Johnny, thanks for the owner insight. Take note guys. Richard Berry
Pretty car...BUT also a pretty terrible car.
Ha! Yup, I've never met a Maserati that I was 100 per cent happy with - the Levante S is getting there though. Video of that is up on the carsguide youtube channel now. RB
The front looks so horrible. Like it belongs in 2005. GranTurismo only Maserati that actually looks good.
This hipster is just too annoying.
